I think GRRM said that Peter Dinklage is way more attractive than he intended Tyrion to be - although not sure if he was referring to post-Blackwater.

I was under the impression that he was ugly from the start - but can't remember much referencing his appearance, other than his mismatched eyes, just other people's reactions.

Also, I'm not sure he was a big hit with the ladies - he did pay for them, after all!

Dogolphin · 19/06/2016 15:27

I am hoping Sansa removes Ramsay's bits and sends them to Theon in a box, its sounds a bit grim when written but quite fitting I think.

EverySongbirdSays · 19/06/2016 15:29

Comments like "Peter Dinklage is pretty FOR A DWARF" on that quora thread you've linked to are kind of gross though to be fair.

Book Tyrion's features are more of a caricature than what real people with dwarfism look like

EverySongbirdSays · 19/06/2016 15:34

I'm not sure Theon would want it.

Tyrion was in love with that woman he wanted to marry. Tywin lied when he said she was a whore and then had his men rape her to "prove" it. Sad I forget her name. He tells Shae and Bronn about her in the tent.

QueenOfThorns I think in the books one of the "conditions" of the Westerlings being pardoned is that they make certain Jayne isn't with Robb's child. I vaguely remember a passage where Jaime takes Riverrun and there's a discussion with Lady Westerling along those lines? IIRC I think Lady Westerling was also looking to remarry Jayne off to someone else with Lands / a Title.

EverySongbirdSays · 19/06/2016 15:38

Tysha

When he was thirteen years old, Tyrion Lannister met Tysha on a lonely road near Lannisport, where she was being accosted by some men. Tyrion's brother, Jaime Lannister, drove off the men while Tyrion took care of her. She was a crofter's daughter, orphaned when her father died of an illness. Tyrion fell in love with her and they were married by a drunken septon with pigs as witnesses.[2][3] Tyrion settled Tysha in a cottage near the Sunset Sea.[2][4]

When Lord Tywin Lannister found out from the septon a fortnight later, he had Jaime tell Tyrion that Tysha was a whore who had been paid to make Tyrion a man. Tywin then had her gang raped by his guards in their barracks; for each guard, he gave her a silver. To drive the lesson home, Tywin forced his son to be the last man, for whom Tysha was paid a gold coin, because Lannisters were worth more

Every Tysha?

Tyrion in the books also has white blonde hair doesn't he? Hence the Targ speculation.

TheNorthRemembers · 19/06/2016 15:48

8dayweek You are right. Jaime is quite disgusted at Mommy Westerling. It all feels a bit like they trapped Robb in many ways. Not Jeyne, but her family.

When that blessed book finally comes out (Winds of Winter) we shall find out about Jeyne's condition. A lot of people expect the epilogue to be about Edmure and family heading to Casterly Rock under armed escort and we have a glimpse of Jeyne. No clue where they get this from though. It is fairly specific.

TheNorthRemembers · 19/06/2016 15:51

People speculated that the Hound may have been one of Tysha's rapist Lannister guards based on his comments when he heard that Tyrion married Sansa.

8dayweek · 19/06/2016 15:57

TheNorthRemembers Yes it's coming back to me now! Doesn't Jaime say something will be arranged but not immediately because if she has a child there could be speculation it's Robb's so he wants her match to be left for a year or two.

Re. Tysha - That would have been back at Casterly Rock? So it seems a fair shout that The Hound was there?

Trills · 19/06/2016 16:13

I have a thought about Jeyne vs Tysha.

When Robb marries Jeyne, some Northerners might secretly be on his side. Her family are not rich but they are Northern and descended from the First Men.

So they may have some sympathy for his decision to not marry a Frey (who would want to marry a Frey? yuck!) in favour of her.

When Robb marries Tysha - who is she? Robb is screwing them all over by relinquishing on his agreement for a "foreign whore".

This adds to the Northern Lords not choosing to support Sansa/Jon. hsupported Robb but he threw it all away.

Trills · 19/06/2016 16:14

I don't mean Tysha of course. I mean Talisa. I just typed Tysha because I had seen it above.

EverySongbirdSays · 19/06/2016 16:20

Great point Trills

North and other book readers, what will we do when TWOW comes out??! How will we manage to discuss it when we are all at different paces?!

I did ADWD in 13 hours last time. Taking food/sleep/piss breaks out It came out on a weekend IIRC I didnt have work anyway.

OP posts:
8dayweek · 19/06/2016 16:25

The books and TV show are going to go in really different directions when you look at it like that.

I wonder if the Producers ever go off piste and then think afterwards "Oh fuck, how are we supposed to tie that loose end up now" Grin

I'm only half way through Part 1 of A Dance with Dragons and at times I feel like I'm reading an entirely different story to that I watch on screen. The whole false "Arya" wed to Ramsey just cannot go the same way as it appears to be going on screen since she's been swapped in for Sansa.

AliceInHinterland · 19/06/2016 16:29

Don't worry we will all be retired and able to read it in 13 hours. We could have a thread per chapter?

EverySongbirdSays · 19/06/2016 16:36

Some chapters are quite short.

First 100 pages etc - PITSTOPS

And a separate one for Winds Of Winter - I HAVE CROSSED THE FINISH LINE

Rubs hands together - I LIKE IT

QueenOfThorns · 19/06/2016 16:39

8day and TheNorth, I thought one of the main pieces of evidence for the pregnancy theory was that the description of the girl who is supposed to be Jeyne who rides out of Riverrun doesn't quite match the original description of her (something about her hips?). So, yes, there was a deal, but the theory is that there has been a double cross, Jeyne has been switched with one of her sisters and is off somewhere with the Blackfish.

Trills · 19/06/2016 16:55

Was Catelyn worried that Jeyne did not have childbearing hips?

CaitAgusMadra · 19/06/2016 16:55

Yes - Cat mentions Jeynes wide, child bearing hips a few times in the chapters when her & Robb are married.

In the later chapters (after Robbs death) Jamie specifically notes her narrow hips IIRC. There is also no mention of Jeynes younger sister in these chapters.

Trills · 19/06/2016 16:56

GRRM would not usually mention hips in an inconsistent manner - I hope :)

QueenOfThorns · 19/06/2016 17:15

Actually, Trills, I think he may have admitted to doing just that. According to this, current editions of the books don't contain the hip reference Sad

ClashCityRocker · 19/06/2016 17:42

Hang on hang on,mwhats the Jeyne theory?

This is presumably book-only, as I thought Robbs missus was killed at the red wedding?

I might be wrong....she is still alive in the books, isn't she? I think I recall when she meets Jaime she gets in a rage because her mum and a woods witch performed the westeros equivalent of an abortion...but of course that could be lies and misdirection.

Felascloak · 19/06/2016 17:45

boner I agree. I don't think they could gave cast an actor to play Tyrion, I read him as quite grotesque beyond dwarfism. I think Peter dinklage is great though.
I lent my book out but found this on tinterwebs www.techinsider.io/game-of-thrones-how-tyrion-lannister-books-vs-show-2015-10

EverySongbirdSays · 19/06/2016 17:45

Robb's REAL WIFE - none of this Talisa bullshit has an eggo what is preggo with Baby Robb.

Obviously this won't happen in the show now.

Theory is that the Jeyne Jamie met is NOT Jeyne but her sister. He wouldn't know difference.

OP posts:
EverySongbirdSays · 19/06/2016 17:50

Robb didn't take Jeyne to the Red Wedding as bringing her would be a further affront to Walder Frey.

Which is why Talisa's death is so ick. It's there for gratuitous violence and nothing else.
