I've just seen the new .

Hang on to your hats for a another round of pregnancy/childbirth bingo and the continuing adventures of the most drama-filled antenatal group and understaffed maternity unit in the country!

Previous thread here to remind yourselves of last series/loose ends and see if any of Bertie's predictions come true!

Dotty some of the shit in this series was utterly ridiculous (the blizzard childminding setup and twins born at 32/33w being allowed out of special care an hour after being born for a start) to downright dangerous ("Sometimes baby's go quiet when they're getting ready to be born" I complained to the bbc about that utter fucking stupidity)

So could I write any better? No idea....it's not my job to but I would damn well do some bloody research before I wrote it

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 11/06/2016 16:03

blizzard bizarre

dottypotter · 11/06/2016 16:07

then it wasn't that bad then was it!

Bet the ratings were high.

If people criticise they have to be able to do better,

most peoplel wouldn't have a clue where to start.

It was entertaining unlike miserable depressing soap operas that are on night after night.

Chippednailvarnishing · 11/06/2016 16:19

If people criticise they have to be able to do better

No actually they don't. If you are using my licence fee as payment to produce a programme that contains dangerous inaccuracies, I reserve the right to critique it.

And that's before I even start thinking about the unintentionally hilarious plot and "acting". If the BBC wants to maintain the privilege of being funded by a compulsory licence fee it has to be accountable to those of pay it.

dottypotter · 11/06/2016 17:02

don't watch then. Soaps aren't real life and loads of people watch them.

I wont change my opinion. see if you can write something better and see if the BBC will put it on.

Plenty of people enjoyed it.

Chippednailvarnishing · 11/06/2016 17:19

You're very defensive Dotty anyone would think that you wrote it.
Grin
And if I'm paying for something I have the right to expect better than this.

I couldn't believe the bit where they thought Sebby had meningitis and instead of taking him to A&E thought it would be a good idea to take him to the maternity unit. Because a place full of newborn babies is the best place in this situation.

dottypotter · 11/06/2016 17:33

its easy to criticise though and you cant please everyone on the whole I think it was popular.

I could not have written anything like this so I'm happy to watch the writers version.

I know if they do another series I will watch again.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/06/2016 17:40

I loved it. Loved all 6 episodes

Yes there were things that would never happen

Being allowed to cm an under 1 when have twins under 1

Having an almost 6lb 7 week Prem twins and then being taken to a ceronmy

Sure there were others but it was fun watching

Unfair kim gets the blame for katie. It's her partner who is dad of the father. He should be paying more attention to his grandkids

I assumed the rash was a ploy to stop talking about the parental order

Yes I also thought midwifes had to be able to drive

But can't wait for s3 if it happens :)

JustDanceAddict · 12/06/2016 04:47

A critique had nothing to do with whether you can write something better or not. Plenty of people make livings from being a critic, whether it's of theatre, film, food, TV, etc. If no-one is accountable for the service or entertainment provided then there will be no quality of goods. Yes, the programme was dross, but entertaining nonetheless and it was probably the gross inaccuracies that really made it super-daft. It doesn't take much to research something properly and that's not what was done here - totally separate from the quality (or otherwise) of the writing.

JustDanceAddict · 12/06/2016 04:48

*has, not had

Woodhill · 12/06/2016 08:55

Watchable and yes, soapish and silly but I like it.

Remember cutting it which was so far fetched but started off sensible. Reminds me of it slightly. Can't say why.

dottypotter · 12/06/2016 15:05

the box set is out tomorrow.

notamummy10 · 12/06/2016 15:15

I hope Series 3 happens... I want to know if the gay couple get to keep Sebastian and what will happen with Roanna and Ray with Katie!

Alisvolatpropiis · 12/06/2016 15:20

Oooh didn't Cutting It have a mother and daughter pregnant by the same man storyline at one point?

dottypotter · 12/06/2016 15:48

do you really think its simons? her face did drop the daughters when she heard Roanna say Simon was going away?

diddl · 15/07/2016 15:55

Sorry for dragging up an old thread, but only just got around to watching this!

So Series 3-yes or no?

Do we care that Katie is pregnant, that Simon is back?

I suppose that would be a storyline-Katie & Simon at the parental classes together!

Baby Sebastian- could the birth mother take him back at any point if she hasn't signed the paper?

She has let the fathers take him home -does that not show any intention on her part to not parent iyswim?

MargotLovedTom · 15/07/2016 16:12

Where did you watch it diddl, as I realised I'd missed the last one and it's not on iPlayer any more. Did you have it recorded?

diddl · 15/07/2016 20:15

Have pmed you, Margot.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/07/2016 00:03

I hope there will be a s3

I enjoyed it tho many others thought it was crap / tho the storylines lines a bit far fetched - but was entertaining :)
