Just read the link about the lady who's been banned from calling her baby daughter Cyanide. She already has a son called Preacher. Enough said. Shock Shock

I must admit the vicar did squirm at the font when my son was christened - Catflap was really upset and only his big brother Turd could pacify him Grin

pixieg1rl · 20/04/2016 13:14

Working from home and it's gorgeous outside. Do I feel like staying inside and fiddling with this database? No.

MaddieMoo82 · 20/04/2016 13:17

Hahaha saw that news story woof apparently she thought it was a 'lovely, pretty name' Grin oh dear Shock
The picture of BA horseback has kept me happy at work all morning!

pixieg1rl · 20/04/2016 13:48

Is Catflap the one who likes fruity cider woof?

cjwoofwoof · 20/04/2016 14:03

No pix that's Spermwhale, named after his Dad who most certainly was Grin

Ilovelblue · 20/04/2016 20:56

Evening. Quite quiet on here again today. Been working in the garden again tonight and trying to work out how many plants we'll have for the charity sale. I always panic there won't be enough. My garden looks like a badly run nursery just now.

Nickel45 · 20/04/2016 21:26

Evening :) been mega busy lately, just wanted to say hello.

Also, can't believe the sad news about Victoria Wood. What a legend. So sad :(

Rhubarb01 · 20/04/2016 21:39

Evening. Popped in to say hello. I've just had a little moonlight over on the Home Fires thread and seen that Pixie is doing likewise on the Outlander thread. We are spreading our wings a bit but I've come back to the fold.

Yes, sad news Nickel about Victoria Wood and far too young. She always made me laugh. What a year it's been for losing so many entertainers, presenters and long established faces in the public eye.

Ilovelblue · 20/04/2016 21:40

Sh*t. The cat has brought a mouse in. No wonder he was sitting in one place without moving. Now I can't catch the bloody thing. Good job I'm not frightened of them.

Ilovelblue · 20/04/2016 21:43

I didn't realise Victoria Wood was 62. I was surprised. I echo your sentiments about losing so many celebrities.

I might look at the Home Fires thread myself Rhubarb.

pixieg1rl · 20/04/2016 22:07

62 is horribly young.

It's funny being on a new thread and not having all the history and in jokes.

Has anyone seen there's a new P&P adaptation out called Eligible? The first few chapters were serialised in The Pool.
www.the-pool.com/arts-culture/bedtime-bookclub/2016/15/curtis-sittenfeld-eligible

I think yours was better rhu. I indulged in all of your latest in one go on Monday, I'm loving it.

Ilovelblue · 20/04/2016 22:22

Rhubarb I've looked at the Home Fires thread but I don't think I'm qualified enough to post. I'm enjoying it but can't always remember the women's names and there are a couple who look quite similar and I can't work which is which! I'm also often doing eBay on a Sunday night so only half concentrate on the television!

I've caught the mouse and put it in next door's garden to give it a chance to run off.

Rhubarb01 · 20/04/2016 23:45

Ah bless you pixie for being so kind! I think that Curtis Sittenfeld story is part of something called Project Austen or something like that where a group of well known authors were invited to write modern versions of the novels - possibly to celebrate 200 years since the publication of Pride & Prejudice. It's amazing to think a 200 year old novel still grips people. Did anyone see that thread on here yesterday all about Charlotte Lucas and Mr Collins? It was quite funny because someone said they had only just realised that at the end of the novel Charlotte Lucas is pregnant. There followed many musings on the martial bed antics of Charlotte and Mr Collins and their attitudes to conjugal rights!

Ilove your mouse tale reminds me of many occasions here in the past with our late cats. The times we were quietly watching TV and one of us would notice a cat slinking in with a live mouse. The moment we noticed it the cat would belt off somewhere possibly upstairs under the bed or drop the mouse which would scurry off round the living room. I've also found live ones cowering behind the TV out of reach of the cat in the morning. Quite a few captures and re-release into the wild occasions have followed.

As for Home Fires - yes not much idea of the names either. I know poor Pat with horrible Bob and there's an Erica (POW vicar's wife?? or the doctor's?) and the annoying Mim the butcher's wife who I wanted to shake all the time last series. I can't remember any of the other's names which is quite bad when you've seen nine episodes over two series so far. Perhaps there are too many storylines or they need longer series so you remember everyone.

Ilovelblue · 21/04/2016 08:33

Rhubarb this is my champion mouser looking very smug.

Glad it's not just me struggling with Home Fires and its cast. Not that we ever had a problem with OG, did we? There's a theory in there somewhere!

Nickel45 · 21/04/2016 12:59

Just seen this - www.chortle.co.uk/news/2016/04/20/24692/bbc_adapts_astoundingly_filthy_fleabag_for_tv . I reckon it may be the Fleabag that was on BA's CV ... looks like he's got more work lined up :) Sounds like it's worth a watch!!! Grin

pixieg1rl · 21/04/2016 14:19

Filthy?

Sounds right up our street Grin

cjwoofwoof · 21/04/2016 14:26

Ooh nick great Intel there. Ditto to pix - hoping for BA to be wearing nothing but a smile and maybe a whiff of Old Spice rubs thighs whilst dribbling

pixieg1rl · 21/04/2016 15:05

Here woof, have a spare bed wetting mat....

cjwoofwoof · 21/04/2016 15:45

Might gonna need two of those pix as its Shannara Chronicles tonight and the pelvic floor is always tested on a Thursday Grin

Ilovelblue · 21/04/2016 15:54

Anything with porn and BA in the same sentence is ok by me Nickel!!

Nickel45 · 21/04/2016 16:14

Indeed Grin

Rhubarb01 · 21/04/2016 18:06

What a gorgeous boy ilove. I could just reach out and tickle him under the chin and scratch his ears. Your cat's not bad either! Grin. Seriously, lovely boy! Well I'm assuming it's a boy but I could be wrong.

I'm a bit confused about that Fleabag thing - it doesn't take much. Is this the thing that BA already made that is being picked up by BBC3 or is it being made again?

cjwoofwoof · 21/04/2016 19:20

Oh my word just heard news of the death of Prince at 57. All these '80s icons are suddenly passing away, what sad times Sad

Ilovelblue · 21/04/2016 22:13

Yes Rhubarb both my cats are boys. You do occasionally get ginger girls but the vast majority are males.

I had a strange conversation with a colleague today who was asking about our forthcoming plant sale. He wanted a tree. It went something like this.

Him: I am looking for a tree, you will know what I mean. It's about 3 foot high with a thin trunk and leaves that look like a woman's hair.

Me: No idea, can you be more specific?

Him: You do know what I mean, so can I have two of them. I like symmetry in my garden.

Me: Do you think we're a garden centre?
