Not even a hint of a whisper of a spoiler please - we're going with UK time, so Sunday night.

Christmas is feeling like a minor interruption on the road to the season finale. I want it over with so we're closer to seeing just how sensible Carrie was when she went alone down a sarin-loaded train tunnel, and the total number of injuries Quinn can sustain in a single season. I predict he'll leave hospital and there will be some freak injury involving currywurst.

I can't decide yet if I loved it or not.

I was surprised by the plot being tied up so quickly.

They also really wanted to make sure that Hair was killed with all that gunfire!

I felt sad for Carrie and agree that Jonas shouldn't have slept with her before ending things-grrr!

I'm still unsure about Quinn. I can't see how he can possibly survive but I like to been shown things for closure so I'm still not certain he's dead.

The Otto thing I really didn't see coming and it confused me.

AmberFool · 29/12/2015 18:42

I knew it! Otto wanted Carrie all along. I was very satisfied (but wanted to boak) with that outcome because it's what I thought all along.

As a season finale, it was much better than season 4 season finale. Way better. It tied up a lot of loose ends. Shame journo was not shot though What a sad end for Hair - I really wanted her to get away. I really like the Ivan & Saul scene. Homeland at it's best. Jonas and Carrie splitting up was as it should be. I think Carrie was ready for Quinn to meet his dark maker but that bright white light was a sign that there was hope for the boy - bit naff for me but I guess it's Christmas.

I've been to Jackson Hole. I'd sell my own grandmother to live there Grin

Hopefully just as soon as they start shooting Season 6 there will be some "spotted" report of Rupert Friend on set. I'll be pathetically grateful for the information - the alive/dead status of Quinn is bothering me. A lot. Although he has to be dead, right?

oneowlgirl · 29/12/2015 23:25

Watched it tonight - my DH says he's definitely dead but I think he's alive (but I was convinced that Brodie wasn't really dead & turned out to be wrong there!)

Cocolepew · 29/12/2015 23:30

Ohhhh so Tuffers was slagging Carrie of to The Earth Angel 😇 to put him of her so he could move in on her?
I should have got that really Blush

ovenchips · 30/12/2015 18:29

I am really trying to picture how season 6 will look and am wondering if Carrie will end up accepting Otto's 'proposal' including running the foundation with him?

I am struggling to imagine what setting season 6 could have otherwise. Carrie doesn't want to go back to work for the CIA. Before someone started trying to kill her(!) she was settled in Berlin with her daughter. The During Foundation setting would enable the 'spy' element to continue which is obviously essential for the narrative of the series and would allow the Berlin CIA station to still feature (albeit without Hair).

Otherwise what setting could it be next that wouldn't involve zero continuity of characters apart from Carrie?

Obviously my preferred scenario would be the Carrie and Quinn show, which would involving them living in connubial bliss, lots of sex scenes and Quinn in a towel an indecent amount. But I don't think that is going to happen.Sad

Pigeonpost · 30/12/2015 19:07

I think he's definitely dead. I don't think Carrie would have read the letter if there was any reasonable prognosis. Happy to be proved wrong though!

ovenchips · 30/12/2015 19:32

I don't think there's a happy ending either. But was fun imagining itGrin

deadwitchproject · 30/12/2015 19:46

Quinn est mort Sad
Hair est mort Grin

ok I don't actually know French so that will do for now Blush

I was grossed out by Otto's proposal and can't stop thinking about it.

oneowlgirl · 30/12/2015 20:02

Otto did just come across as a dirty old man - gross!

carabos · 30/12/2015 20:57

Do we know for sure there's a season 6?

Quinn defo dead - look at Brodie, it was all about him, but that didn't save him. Quinn has been a much more peripheral character.

Can't see Carrie in a romantic relationship with Otto as she clearly doesn't fancy him and can't see her as a business partner as she's a government grunt through and through.

ovenchips · 30/12/2015 21:16

Yes, I think season 6 is confirmed.

I agree it would all be unlikely - Carrie with Düring and heading up the Foundation with him. But why introduce the idea (very clumsily) in the last few minutes of the season finalé if not to set it up for the next season? I just don't understand its inclusion otherwise, if not to progress the plot.

And as I said, what are the other possible settings for a 6th season? Carrie was adamant that there was no going back to CIA. She was 'not that person'. What other role could she have that could keep some of the main characters if she's not with CIA or the Düring Foundation? I just can't think of one.

Lulooo · 31/12/2015 20:51

Quinn's definitely dead. Unfortunately. What a sad life he had. If he had been a real person then to grow up so lonely and alone and to have died for your country, without your love being reciprocated by the one person you gave your heart to is really quite a melancholy fate.

HouseOfMouse · 01/01/2016 14:00

I'm sure when Quinn first arrived (Series 2) he had a wife and kid. Plus at one point I'm sure they'd said he went to Harvard. Neither of which fit with the sob story they've now written for him.

Lweji · 01/01/2016 15:43

You are right, House.
Maybe he went to Harvard while on Black Ops. I'm sure they want educated people working for them. :)

oneowlgirl · 01/01/2016 17:54

I thought when he was first in it, he had no backstory? I have a vague recollection of Carrie tailing him to an address where there was literally a mattress on the floor & his bag & that's when she challenged Saul that he was black Ops (brought in to kill Brodie).

Fiderer · 03/01/2016 14:29

Have watched it now, am back from assignment in CLASSIFIED.

Poor Quinn is a goner - think the light coming into his room was his being her "beacon on the rocks".

Dar not much of a seasoned pro letting Carrie walk into Q's room while he snored away.

Düring's proposal was v odd. To Jonas "She's too unstable to employ." "Now you've saved Berlin I want you as my partner" Hmm

V pissed off that Allison didn't get hauled back in disgrace to Berlin. Would love to have seen her confront Dar. Why didn't they just have fake police at that fake barrier & shoot the Russians in the head? Or take them prisoner as exchange fodder or for information?

Also Allison (suspected Russian agent) says attack imminent at the airport & is immediately believed.

Am looking forward to the next season so I can gripe about Carrie's wobbly chin & how rotten an agent she is.

It won't be Germany thankfully, hopefully. The threat at the Munich main station was Shock just before I watched this episode.

Cocolepew · 03/01/2016 14:35

Are we rendezvousing for tonight?
New Spys r Us?

Fiderer · 03/01/2016 14:36

More musings:

Ivan saying to Saul about how his sleeping with Allison would make him not see other things had shades of Bill Haydon & Smiley.

Jackson Hole is where, in The West Wing, President Bartlet rode Leo's bike into a tree. Or as Leo put it "came to a sudden arboreal stop." Grin

Cocolepew · 03/01/2016 14:49

Saul was a man scorned, thats why the car shooting was so extreme.

Lweji · 03/01/2016 14:53

Dealing with Allison would have been very difficult. They'd have to expose the security breach.
