Not even a hint of a whisper of a spoiler please - we're going with UK time, so Sunday night.

Christmas is feeling like a minor interruption on the road to the season finale. I want it over with so we're closer to seeing just how sensible Carrie was when she went alone down a sarin-loaded train tunnel, and the total number of injuries Quinn can sustain in a single season. I predict he'll leave hospital and there will be some freak injury involving currywurst.

Come on then you clever MN Agents - why was the last episode titled "Our Man in Damascus"?

Ledkr · 24/12/2015 00:06

Erm, was it cos there was a man in Damascus?

Fiderer · 24/12/2015 00:16

But there wasn't Grin Only reference was to the group that didn't actually go to Syria.

Must have missed some clever reference.

Lweji · 24/12/2015 00:23

After googling, the name refers to a Mossad agent who infiltrated Syria and ended up being publicly executed in front of cameras.
I imagine they were referring here to Quinn (bless him) whose almost body leads to find the terrorists and their targets, possibly.

ZenNudist · 24/12/2015 00:24

Loving homeland. Think I'm an episode behind again, don't think I know about Carrie investigating the tunnel.

If I were the actor playing Quinn I'd be really annoyed I've had such a rubbish season mainly lying about being sick, kidnapped or half dead!

Fiderer · 24/12/2015 00:29

Ooh clever Lweji - grim but clever.

Lweji · 24/12/2015 00:46

But then it could also be about all those who are under cover and have a specific agenda: Allison, the uni doctor.

Oh, Hair is crossing swords with Aragorn on my TV. Nails she is.

MuddlingMackem · 24/12/2015 00:58

Ooh! A Homeland thread. I need to join. :)

Eachleechsparethumb · 24/12/2015 01:08

I'm in

bearleftmonkeyright · 24/12/2015 08:53

I will be watching Deutschland 83 as my hearing is terrible so always have the subtitles on. So it will be no different to me!

Howaboutthisone · 24/12/2015 10:20

Impressive lweji!

Lweji · 24/12/2015 11:20

Yes, that took a lot of undercover work, late nights, bad wigs just my normal hair, and deductive power. aka Googled our man in damascus

enderwoman · 24/12/2015 13:06

I've recovered from my ranting on the day after the penultimate episode of Homeland.

Signing in!

I'll be watching Deutschland 83. I am a late 70s child so not very knowledgeable about 80s politics. I kind of know about the Cuban missile crisis but that was the 60s so I'm assuming that the Russians will play a big part in this series.

Lweji · 24/12/2015 13:17

83 was Brezhnev? Round about Star Wars (Reagan version)?

Oh, just checked. He had died the previous year, then replaced with Andropov (assassinated?), then Chernenko. Should be an interestingly unstable period.

And yes for Reagan and SW (announced that year).

I'm fucking good at this stuff. take note claig Xmas Grin

HalleLouja · 24/12/2015 21:36

Is it wrong that I am willing Xmas to be over so I can watch the finale?

Travelledtheworld · 25/12/2015 14:28

Ok so there is one episode left this season, in the UK?
I am on holiday in the USA and confused.

Fiderer · 25/12/2015 15:26

Yes, the final 12th episode aired last Sunday in the US. Airs this Sunday in the UK.

Lweji · 25/12/2015 19:45

My BIL clearly has no taste, as he has been recording the series but only watched the first episode.

Although these threads have made the series at least 200% more interesting. And, yes, I mean that only 33.33% of the interest in the series is due to the series itself.

Lweji · 26/12/2015 00:08

And what happens in the last episode is

Oh, damn, it seems it was all written in invisible ink. And you can't get your laptops/phones/tablets near flames or heat. What to do...

deadwitchproject · 26/12/2015 09:40

marking place and may even be able to watch it in real time

Fiderer · 26/12/2015 16:08

I was thinking about Hair's heels. As one does as a seasoned MN agent.

If they packed her heels into the ambulance with her (personal effects?) then she'd have left the hospital bleeding from her shoulder, in a hospital gown, either in heels or barefoot.

Was the doctor who came in and said he'd have to pack the wound an SVR agent? Thought it was odd she asked him who he was. If yes he'd have wheeled her out thereby eliminating the need for heels.

Lweji · 26/12/2015 16:30

I think he was an agent, yes, although she might not have been aware that they were pulling her out then.
On ER they always put personal belongings under the beds/cots. I imagine they tend to do that in hospitals so that they are not lost. I certainly carried all my stuff with me in the maternity ward.

Fiderer · 26/12/2015 17:00

Yes, he would have had a code word/phrase like "Have you got your heels?" - meaning "Come with me I will exfiltrate you now."

Great how while under suspicion of being a Russian agent & being assigned a minder, she runs around with her phone & a SVR issue gun.

Hassled · 26/12/2015 20:18

I'm posting during a blessed lull in Homeland the board game. Dear god it's complicated. We've watched a 26 minute YouTube explanatory interview and are still squabbling about The Rules. Even Quinn would crack under this sort of torture - I thought alcohol would help but no.
