Not even a hint of a whisper of a spoiler please - we're going with UK time, so Sunday night.

Christmas is feeling like a minor interruption on the road to the season finale. I want it over with so we're closer to seeing just how sensible Carrie was when she went alone down a sarin-loaded train tunnel, and the total number of injuries Quinn can sustain in a single season. I predict he'll leave hospital and there will be some freak injury involving currywurst.

I found the Quinn back story really bleak. He had no one, he was spotted as a kid to be mild cannon fodder. He was good at that so he was trained up and sent into really bad, dangerous situations to kill people. He got hurt a lot and suffered, and Carrie never wanted him. And he was so damaged that he didn't/couldn't stay with nice motel woman.

Then he went off again, for years, suffered a bit more. Came back, and got shot, and sarin-ed, and carried piss in a bottle. And now he'll die in a room with Carrie.

Shirkingfromhome · 27/12/2015 22:28

Lweji isn't tuffers Catholic? He has his own chapel. This could be a link for Carrie and the proposal clutches at straws

waitingforgodot · 27/12/2015 22:29

oh god, I found it really sad

PseudoBadger · 27/12/2015 22:30

Tuffers clearly thinks he is creating some kind of Avengers super force. No way will he be good enough in the sack for Carrie.

TheSpottedZebra · 27/12/2015 22:37

Shirking wasn't there also a sort of atonement theme in one of the episodes? ie Tuffers atoning for his family for what they did in the war (that I never quite understood), he bomb maker being killed with his own bomb kit, etc etc...

fidel1ne · 27/12/2015 22:41

I HATE cliffhangers and that was a huge one Sad

HalleLouja · 27/12/2015 22:42

I cried a few times. When Carrie got dumped by the so called Angel and the whole Quinn thing was sad too even though he looked like a weasel. I think what happened to Quinn put her off once and for all.

Hassled · 27/12/2015 22:42

Zebra - when you spell it out like that yes, heartbreakingly bleak.

When Carrie was in the chapel and saw the mother/daughter - was that a hallucination type thing?

OP posts:
HalleLouja · 27/12/2015 22:45

Hassled I think she was there so long they went after a while or maybe it made her remember Franny and what she's missing.

I really enjoyed the episode.

waitingforgodot · 27/12/2015 22:51

I thought it was a hallucination too

Shirkingfromhome · 27/12/2015 22:55

Zebra good point I think you're right. I'm sure another poster mentioned this on a previous homeland thread too (may have been you).

I think she intends to Maplessglobe, but will she actually do it...?

I liked the episode - I thought the whole thing was going to be about preventing (or trying to prevent) the attack at the station, but that was done straight away and the rest of it was interesting.

Felt sorry for Hair too at the holey end. Why? She was horrid to the last (to the dishy Russian doc).

Hassled · 28/12/2015 08:36

The Guardian summary is worth a read - here. I'm especially entertained by the realisation that Hair's final words were "What if I need to pee?".

Xmas Grin
TheOldestCat · 28/12/2015 18:31

Grin Hassled. Poor old Hair - not great last words.

I've enjoyed the Graun's summary and these threads as much as the programme!

ingeniousidiot · 28/12/2015 20:18

Oooo, just going to watch it now - back in an hour or so - have the kids selection boxes and some s&v crisps - classy bird!

GypsyFl0ss · 28/12/2015 20:28

Watching now. Loving the frizzy hair, flats and nice slacks that Hair was sporting for final journey.

Otto is creepy.

HalleLouja · 28/12/2015 21:43

Looks like there is going to be a new US show called Berlin Station with Richard Armitage. So maybe Carrie will be somewhere else. Maybe Pakistan with Zaf from Spooks.

Lweji · 28/12/2015 21:47

Has anyone else also noticed how Carrie was on skinny trousers (possibly jeans, but my eyesight is not as good as before) in hospital?

I'm not usually one to notice these details. You have spoilt me.

Lweji · 28/12/2015 21:49

New show?
Richard Armitage?

Roonerspism · 28/12/2015 22:35

Finally got to watch it. I know media said it was an anticlimax but for once I enjoyed the calmer feel to it and the tying of ends.

I feel sad for Quinn and always hoped he would escape to the nice homely building manager. I was waiting for Tuffers to be shot!

HalleLouja · 28/12/2015 22:59
ingeniousidiot · 28/12/2015 23:20

I liked it - although couldn't quite decide whether Carrie was going to kill Quinn and whether the partner proposal was of a business or personal kind.

GypsyFl0ss · 29/12/2015 06:20

Yes! Everything I read implied that Carrie was about to put a pillow over his face hence her putting the pulse oximetry probe on her own finger. But I doesn't get that feeling. I did find the golden light religious ecstasy thing a bit contrived though. I am glad Quinn told her he loved her in the end though

Otto's proposal felt creepily personal. The way he talked about it made her sound like a purchase.
