I don't understand. where did the lorry come from. why wouldn't the driver have seen him on such an open road. why was he going so fast. why would he stop across a road like that and the phone suddenly work after there's been no exception.

I never understand why people feel the need to announce " he's a dr" or "it's X"

surely they aren't suggesting drs try harder if it's one of their own?

I've read online it's because he and Shonda didn't get on. She apparently sanctioned him last year and made him take a break.

I think his character was over anyway, I didnt like him - too smug and arrogant. There are loads of characters I prefer over him.

Arse, I forgot it was on last night and thought this was about last week's episode. My own bloody fault for reading before watching it!

I had read that there was speculation that this wasn't the episode where Patrick Dempsey leaves, as he tweeted recently that he was filming in Seattle and it was assumed this was for the next series. I guess he could be returning a la Denny or something (bloody hope not).

I definitely cannot cope with the angst of Meredith dating again, it was bloody awful last time around. This is also why I won't read the third Bridget Jones' Diary.

In terms of people not being around, I wonder if they filmed this death scene very recently with a small cast and crew to try and keep the news from leaking? Grey's has form for not having realistic people at the death bed - where was Addison when Mark Sloane was dying? (I have a feeling Private Practice attempted to explain it as something to do with her being mid-adoption or something). I doubt Christina is going to return next week, which she completely would in real life.

Addison was mid adoption and at the funeral of a main character in Private Practice when McSteamy died...believable she couldn't be there but there's no way Christina wouldn't be there for Dereks in rl! Bet none of his sisters aside from Amelia or his mother turn up either!

I'm quite looking forward to seeing wether Amelia ends up on a downward spiral again....she was fantastic in Private Practice

She was great in Private Practice but I doubt the actor really wants to do oxy-addict girl again.

Which of course reminds me, will Addison appear next week? I certainly hope so.

See, I think if Meredith had gone to pieces it wouldn't have been believable...she doesn't show emotion and become Ice Bitch in these situations (which happen relatively often in ShondaLand!)

I so so want Amelia and Owen to end up together!

If you haven't seen private practice, I highly recommend it if only for Amelia! (And charlotte and cooper...they're brilliant :o )

Yes, Meredith is her mother's daughter. As, are half the cast at times it seems! (Not really but I did think a replay of the 'lost half-sister' story was taking the piss a bit).

I'm not normally a telly addict-poster, but that was emotional, even for Grey's!

I rather liked how the episode played out - with almost no SeattleGraceMercyWestGreySloan(Shepherd?)Memorial characters. They've done 'horrendous accident' to death (excuse the pun) so many times, that at least this was a different take on it.

Meredith had a premonition that Derek would die in a car accident, back at the beginning of season five - after the last time you heard him say "Wait for me, I'll be back before you know it."

And I'm SO on board for Amelia & Owen.

I'm hoping amelia and Owen sort it out too. The pair of them need their heads banging together. amelia seems so angry and outburst last week at meredith was out of nowhere.

nice to see the kids who have been forgotten for weeks now made an appearance.

agree with others though that after meredith and Alex there are no more characters left that are strong enough to carry it on on their own. they have taken the best characters and given them nothing. arizona had the whole nicole/ fetal med thing and now it's as if it never happened. A few weeks ago the brain surgery had us gripped. again now it's been forgotten. that was amelia's moment now they haven't allowed her to run with it.

callie I love callie but she's been forgotten story line wise as well.

As has April. We had that heart breaking storyline now that's over its as if nothing happened.

Richard well he's just sounding like some boring old man telling stories. but he was the heart if the hospital he was someone who was so important now he's just no one.

Maggie, I didn't get the point of her. She's had nothing she's not had a single interesting development.

We need to care about these people if the show is to continue
