Yes, I was gonna say - I do think Dr Mark Greene (and he was always known as Dr Mark Greene as a sign of respect) was the top TV death despite happening off screen. Or perhaps because of it?

I wonder if it was because of this reaction (not ours on this thread, which has been entirely measured and sensible) but the petition-starting / like someone died in real life lunacy. Dempsey clearly doesn't want to be in Grey's any more, and who can blame him - there's not really anywhere for his character to go. But if he left the campaign to reunite him with Meredith would be way worse than attempts to resurrect him from the dead.

Don't want to read the thread properly as I still need to watch this episode but can't resist posting. I guessed what this spoiler would be because at the beg of the last uk episode MerDer were suddenly way too happy and I thought ok he's dead then ...then there was the Derek? note of course! Shame though , how can they kill off everyone in Meredith's family, Maggie better not get too friendly with mer

I'm just stuck working out where it's going to go from here. There was never going to be a way that Mer and Derick could not be together without one of them dying, with Lexie also dead theres no other grey to carry it on as was speculated with the idea of a move to Boston, that Lexie would be the star instead but now there's none of that. The show would be so dull with just Meredith the ice queen, and it seems to pointless for them to have gone through so much only for him to die in a car crash!
