Bah I forgot I had 'family assembly' this morning. DS is getting star of the week as well so I can't sack it off like I usually do.

SeattleGraceMercyDeath · 01/05/2015 10:23

10 minutes in and I haven't stopped crying yet. Hmm need to get a grip.

Gileswithachainsaw · 01/05/2015 10:25

It's a very odd episode. would certainly be a good one to end the show on.

You will need the tissues. It almost broke me and I don't break easy Blush

HollyJollyDillydolly · 01/05/2015 11:24

amelia showed real promise but that's all been forgotten now. I don't understand why all story lines have been tied up. I can't see how they will make a 12th season at all tbh.

bluewireflower · 01/05/2015 11:42

How can I watch series 11 in UK?

SeattleGraceMercyDeath · 01/05/2015 11:43

I have just spent the last 15 minutes of episode 22 crying loudly. Great episode. Should be the series finale. I don't want the show to go on without Derek.

Gileswithachainsaw · 01/05/2015 11:54

agreed all loose ends are tied up. everyone's slowly moving on and the last scenes showed meredith having taken stick if things and deciding how to move forward.

It really should be the last one.

SeattleGraceMercyDeath · 01/05/2015 12:05

I thought it was the season finale at least, didn't realise it was back next week. Shonda has really stuck it to Patrick Dempsey mind. Not even important enough to finish the season.

HollyJollyDillydolly · 01/05/2015 12:06

I plan on buying chocolate and alcohol :)
I bet Meredith is pregnant too, even though it took her ages to conceive Bailey due to her hostile uterus.

Gileswithachainsaw · 01/05/2015 12:13

There's a promo of E23 on you tube. It's the reaction I'd expected In this episode.

I know it's all a bit odd. but closed everything off at same time

SeattleGraceMercyDeath · 01/05/2015 14:52

I think the dates are there or thereabouts. Easter until new year? Ish. I just can't understand why the aftermath has been so quickly swept away. It's feckin McDreamy! Give us time to grieve!

Gileswithachainsaw · 01/05/2015 14:57

I don't think its the end of it. Now amelia's allowed herself to deal with it All she's going to be asking question. check out the sneak peak. I think there will be more discussion about him

That made no sense admittedly. Surely they'd have noticed an infection or something

tribpot · 01/05/2015 19:04

Yes poor burns victim was just an emblem of Derek, bit mean (and totally inexplicable).

I did think it was a bizarre and unsatisfying episode. I wanted more of the hospital staff being told to get the emotion that was missing from the episode before. A whole year has gone by but Alex still hasn't asked Jo to marry him? She's been on plastics all that time? Neither Arizona nor Callie have really moved on .. it just hadn't been thought through properly. It was just a way to get enough time to pass to introduce baby Derek-Ellis into the show.

No Christina or Addison, which was gutting. It really did feel like the show's finale.

PennilynLott · 01/05/2015 21:35

Why was Meredith bleeding? Did her c section scar rupture? Not that I've got a phobia about that or anything and due for a vbac any minute.

Loads of long embarrassing speeches this episode. I was hoping the gingers had died in war torn country. Pretty rude of her to not even text the husband that she was still alive. I was hoping she'd steal a baby when she was looking at them longingly, so going to war was a bit of a let down.

DragonWithAGirlTattoo · 01/05/2015 22:13

i liked it - glad there werent tooooo many flashback (hello! i have all the episode, if i want to watch old eps,... i'll do it on my own time)

no idea why she bled, was not explained (as far i could tell)

and was it just me that saw Major Hunt in uniform and melted ... just a little.... hmmm...mmmm...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

HollyJollyDillydolly · 01/05/2015 23:38

When I saw the blood I thought it could be a placental abruption but it wasn't explained so not really sure. Poor Amelia finally crumbled :(
April looked prettier than normal when she returned from wherever it was she went with Owen.

tribpot · 02/05/2015 07:57

The blood was only really there to cause the 911 call so that it fitted in with what happened to Ellis Grey, likewise death of burns woman and Derek. It was all very clumsy and tiresome symbolism.

It actually reminded me of The West Wing when Leo died (the actor having died in real life so considerably more poignant and yes, crazy fan who said 'it's like he died in my real life' - this time it was true ). The original writer having long since departed, the scenes which could have been truly tragic, and an actor of Martin Sheen's talent could eaten up, were instead insipid and not at all true to either the character or the man. No return of key characters (Leo's daughter was in it for about 5 seconds and didn't speak) no reminiscing about the great events of the past. It was written by this season's staff writers about what they could remember. Shameful. Now Grey's wasn't quite as bad but it didn't do him justice.
