Is there an Outlander thread?

Started watching it on Amazon Prime last night, I'm hooked already.

Haven't read the books it's based off, which makes a nice change for me!

Anyone else?

Women enjoying sex were clearly Very Bad Indeed according to the Victorians. Thank fuck for Freud sorting out those hysterical madams.

Claire is very sexually progressive for a woman of the forties. Lord only knows what Jamie Fraser thought had hit him.

One of the best things about the first book is how Gabaldon turns that romance novel trope of innocent virgin/experienced partner on its head. Grin

Yup. He was a jolly nice chap.

All caught up. I have to say, even though Jamie's a sweetheart and I love his happy fluffy head, I am looking forward to dark, gritty and tormented Jamie Smile

I don't know if I'm looking forward to it. I like the idea of dark, tormented and gritty but have almost written a different ending in my head. It is brutal towards the end. Looking forward to the monastery afterwards though.

I'm about to re-read book three.

I prefer the later books, but only the domestic details, the rest of it I can take or leave. Plus I've never been a fan of Lord John. What is great is the characters struggles between then and now, we see a bit of it in the punishment scene in episode 9, but how later on characters fit successfully or not into where they are (trying hard not to do spoilers here). I'm going to have a long wait to find out why the characters have done what they do at the end of the last book Sad.

But in the meantime, lots of Jamie's bottom to be observing Grin.

Jamie's bottom is the 8th wonder of the world. If it was a choice between him or a Jamie Fraser sized gingerbread man, I'd really bloody struggle.

I'm surprised an actor that gorgeous hasn't hit the big time before, not going to complain about gratuitous chest shots either!

I was so worried about who they'd cast as Jamie. And then so relieved when I watched it! Smile

Sam Hueghan is perfect; it's hard now to imagine any one else in the role. All of the casting is superb.

Heughan, that is. Smile

Applecross, your comment could apply to both leads. Catriona Balfe is stunning!

I agree to that, she is indeed incredibly beautiful! The whole show is very well done

I'm in the US. It is broadcast on Starz on Saturday night, but they put it on video-on-demand earlier in the day. This episode is really good. Smile

I've just watched today's. I cried. I find that whole scene at Craigh na Dun so powerful.

It deviated from the book somewhat and in one slight way I think they pitched it wrong (won't say more until everybody's seen it) but mostly, I really liked that episode. It was powerful and evocative.

Laoghaire annoys me immensely. More so in later books though. Again, I really can't say much but if you've read them, you'll know what I mean.

Love Ned Gowan.
