Is there an Outlander thread?

Started watching it on Amazon Prime last night, I'm hooked already.

Haven't read the books it's based off, which makes a nice change for me!

Anyone else?

Just finished season 3. I'm in love with their love story ❤️❤️❤️

Comments on the outlander fan Facebook pages saying that a lot of them didn't like episode 2. We will find out tomorrow. Also comments that bits of books 3&4 are going to be included in this series. Mind you, this would get over the difficulties I'd previously mentioned with the filming of book 3.

That's good that it's only book one. Plenty of more to film then hopefully.

Hey Snozzle, season 1 covers the first book, yep. Don't be scared, you won't be disappointed.

There's a season 2 thread running in Telly Addicts for when you've finished season 1 Smile

I'm joining the party very late as I've only just discovered this great programme. I'm hooked and have been binge watching. I now love Jamie, the Scottish accent and men in kilts.
I've just got two episodes of season one left to watch, but after reading this thread I'm now a bit scared to.
I love the difference between episodes 6 & 7. The harrowing scenes when Jamie is being thrashed and the horrific way that Jack Randall treats Clare in episode 6. Then you have the amazing episode 7, showing the connection growing between Jamie & Clare on their wedding night. I was sobbing in horror for one and sobbing in happiness for the other.
I've ordered the first book and can't wait to get started with it. Does season one just cover the first book?

I always thought it was a bit of a convenient, plot-wise, for Frank to be a dickhead. I'll be glad if they keep hopping back and forth between the past and present, if only because we'll get to see a side of Frank we didn't in the books.

I've always thought Frank got a raw deal from Outlander fans I've never understood the hatred. Seems sometimes just because he's not Jamie is reason enough not to like him.

Both disappointed in and enjoyed Ep1
Disappointed they deviated so much from the book (and I couldn't give a flying f that Diana Gabaldon approved it) I loved the start of Dragonfly and think non readers have missed something. Saying that I did enjoy it.

Ok, I've watched the first ep.

When can we talk about it? Grin

They've made TV Frank much nicer and understanding than book Frank. I recall him being irritated and embarrassed at the start of her return. By the end of their marriage he's a racist, adulterous tosser.

I think one of the ways that the TV adaptation is sometimes actually better than the book(s) is what they have done with Frank. He's much more nuanced and multi-dimensional in the series. Of course, Tobias Menzies should get much of the credit for that.

I think this point in the story is the only bit where I really empathise with Frank. His wife's come back after 2/3 years completely in love with another man and pregnant, seemingly mentally ill telling stories of time travelling, while he's been alone having no clue whether she's left him or is dead somewhere. Poor man.

I just can't like Frank because he's such a tosser in the books

It showed up on the front page of Amazon for me. Maybe this link will work?

When does it come onto Prime? Can't find it anywhere.

Honestly, what an amazing first episode! Tobias Menzies is just brilliant isn't he?

I won't say anything else until everyone's watched it but I blubbered a bit.

marking my spot before tomorrow. Prime is all lined up and I will be hiding myself away to watch it on the laptop. Anyone use Amazon fire/stick? Are they pretty straightforward to set up? I'd like to watch it on the TV as well as covertly on my phone when I'm supposed to be making dinner

Oh wow whatever, I didn't know they were releasing it two days early. How did you watch it, do you have the app?

There is the same WTF moment, just in a different order. Not giving too much away to non book readers

Just watched the 1st episode of season 2. Different to the book but flows more logically IMO

I hope they keep at least the first few chapters the same. If nothing else it would be a shame for the people who haven't read the books to miss the WTF element Wink

I could quite happily live without sections of the French story so long as the start and the ending are the same

You're not alone Grin

Though don't let your obsession leak over into real life and have you stalkerishly googling Sam Heughan NOT THAT I DID OR ANYTHING. He's just not the same without a bit of mud and a kilt. So I've heard. Aherm.

Red I've heard for practical reasons they've veered quite a bit from the book, but DG has given her approval on everything. I'll be quite pleased if they leave something quite major out tbh.

I'm guessing the people speculating in the modern scenes haven't read the books Wink

Im going to be gutted if they don't keep this season true to the book.

I'm looking for THE Outlander thread on Mumsnet. Is this it? I watched the first season with no one else I know watching it, and I cannot go through another season perving over Jamie Fraser on my own. Please tell me I am not alone.

Thanks. Never realised you could get an nus card from such courses.
