18yearstooold · 01/01/2015 18:08

Oooo I love this

sailorsgal · 01/01/2015 18:11

yes me too. All those unrealistic people who want a house near the beach with a pool for a 100 grand. And they haven't even been to Oz.Grin

And one of the couple and at least a few of the children don't want to go at all. Plus, they talk non-stop about the outdoorsy lifestyle when they're looking at Melbourne, which arguably has a worse climate than parts of the UK, and they are all couch-potatoes who have never been on a hike in their lives and spend most of their time indoors on the X-box.

Love it! Grin

MerryMo · 01/01/2015 18:33

Oooh can't wait!

ThursdayLast · 01/01/2015 18:35

Good oh!
Thanks for the heads up.

MN makes WDU much more enjoyable Smile

iklboo · 01/01/2015 18:36

Or people whose idea of Australia has come from Neighbours or Home & Away.

Sparklingbrook · 01/01/2015 18:56

I think sufficient time has passed since the 'Poor Brendan' episode for me to be able to watch again.

Wonder if it's Nicky PopIdol still?

Bakeoffcakes · 01/01/2015 22:23

What happened to poor Brendan, Sparkling?

Sparklingbrook · 01/01/2015 22:40

In a nutshell Bake. Family of five, Brendan and wife and 3 girls. Brendan v happy with life in the West Country and his own decorating business. Wife spends every moment brainwashing the girls that emigrating will be FAB. The week out there was spent bulldozing poor Brendan to change his mind as it would be so FAB. Brendan cries quite a bit. Brendan doesn't want to go, wife even says she will go on her own.

Nicky Popidol pops in at the end and still no decision. Can't remember if they went or not, but blimey POOR BRENDAN.

Costacoffeeplease · 01/01/2015 22:44

Anyone remember the couple who had no-one to do their video from home - except the guy from their local take away???

susiedaisy · 01/01/2015 22:49

What happened to flower power family with the wife wanting to start her own flower healing clinic and the husband had very greasy hair.

Bakeoffcakes · 01/01/2015 22:52

Poor Brendan indeedXmas Sad

Sparklingbrook · 01/01/2015 22:54

I remember the flower woman susie. Grin

I like to play WDU bingo-

'Work life balance'
'Outdoor living space'
'Quality family time'
'Will the figures add up?'
'Reality check'
'Relatives back home'
'£9 for a cabbage'

I love it when the house back home is worth £2.50 and they are being shown properties worth half a million.

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 01/01/2015 23:01

I like the bits where they flip the shit laminated flags for what seems like 5 minutes (presumably for the 'suspense' Hmm)

all yell NEW ZEALAND apart from sulky 10yo with his union jack who wants to stay in Staffs

rest of family give him the stinkeye

Sparklingbrook · 01/01/2015 23:08

Muddha. So true.

The card twiddling makes me want to put my foot through the TV Vyvian off the Young Ones stylee.
Also they fly Nicky Popidol over to Oz and yet she never meets the family til they come home. Confused

Nadia Sawalha used to go with them.

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 01/01/2015 23:32

the card twiddle is so CHEAP and rubbish

yet the whole prog must cost ££s

can't they think of something a bit less shit?

TrendStopper · 02/01/2015 00:08

Mon 5th 9.15am.

Set your clocks. I cant wait.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 02/01/2015 00:21

This is why it was a mistake to return to work.

I am going to have to series link it, aren't I? Oh the shame. Blush

I think NickiPopIdol just goes to Skegness and they put really bright lights around her and photoshop the sea from brown to blue.

AmazingDisgrace · 02/01/2015 00:28

oooh oooh! new series yessss! I love when the video from home really rachets up passive aggressive to new levels "we'll miss not seeing the grandchildren grow up and now mum is dying of all the heart problems and arthritis we'll not manage a visit but you must do what's right for you"

threepiecesuite · 02/01/2015 00:32

Cannot wait for this! Love the fussiness of the pool being not quite big enough in the million pound house they're viewing when they've come from a pokey semi at home.

bluecheque4595 · 02/01/2015 00:43

When i watch this for my own amusement I pretend that the cliches are all true and literal. So they go to "live the dream" in their "dream homes" and their "dream lifestyles" and I pretend to myself that they are not in Oz at all but are actually dreaming away in comas, in some shady underground hospital that is harvesting their organs like in that film, "Coma".

Sounds outlandish, but watch next time and see how they are all living in this dreamstate. None of it is real! Wake up!!!!

bluecheque4595 · 02/01/2015 00:45

I also like shouting at the telly. "Stop planning for a granny flat unless you are also budgeting for flying the granny over! If you can't afford to fly them over it doesnt matter how palatial the extra six bedrooms are! They will never visit you again!"

2468Motorway · 02/01/2015 00:58

Love this. It must cost a bit to make but looks so cheap.

Other than the families who have never been I like the ones who were out there on a gap year. They either worked in bars or picking fruit. Now they are a social worker and Welsh teacher from Newport but one of them thinks that running a surf shop would be just the sort thing they they would love...........

MerryMo · 02/01/2015 01:04

I wonder if the Australians make a UK version of the programme.

If so I would love to see it.

Thinking of the sterotypical Brit things they may want to partake in:

Owning a broken brolly
Wet BBQs
Eating Fish n Chips
Sunday roasts in the pub
cricket (rained off)
