Same salary but fewer hours, better conditions & better work life balance is usually a no-brainer. But mum still thinks UK is better??

Cherrypie32 · 29/01/2015 09:44

They must be close to some beautiful beaches in Wales so could do all of this stuff if they made the effort. Surely she doesn't work weekends.

theconstantvacuumer · 29/01/2015 09:44

I honestly don't understand why the dad is doing two jobs in the UK. I presume his wife is on about GBP35K-40K a year and their house is quite modest. I suspect it is a choice for him rather than a necessity and that moving to Aus won't change that.

Jackieharris · 29/01/2015 09:44

It surprises me that they never consider the DCs education. Surely you soul check out the school etc before you went. Afaik Australian DCs tend not to be as far ahead as uk DCs at the same age. Are there school catchment areas there etc?

What about looking to the future and uni? Fees? What if they want to go to a uk uni and pay overseas fees?

On the flip side I've heard childcare costs less there, surely this is really important when figuring out disposable income?

thehumanjam · 29/01/2015 09:44

Poor child, she is just in the way really isn't she?

Vagndidit · 29/01/2015 09:44

I think he cannot be arsed unless he's guaranteed time to "work" at the gym...

runlikeagirl · 29/01/2015 09:45

It's so sad. Maybe you could spend more time with her in the UK

ClaimedByMe · 29/01/2015 09:45

They seem cold and emotionless I wonder what they will be like at the family videos

iklboo · 29/01/2015 09:46

Agree it looks like he chooses to do the gym job rather than has to. So they don't have to spend any time together or with Bee.

I bet she DOES work weekends 'catching up' or 'preparing'.

susiedaisy · 29/01/2015 09:46

I'm not warming to them the parents seem distant and self oriented to me.

Davros · 29/01/2015 09:47

It doesn't matter what the jobs and salaries are like or family time, they have to choose to behave differently wherever they are (Ffs!)

Cherrypie32 · 29/01/2015 09:47

I agree. No warmth or bonds with each other.

susiedaisy · 29/01/2015 09:47

Anyone starting a new thread we're nearly full!!

runlikeagirl · 29/01/2015 09:48

Shopping list time!

iklboo · 29/01/2015 09:48

Wonder if Bee senses the growing gap & thinks a move will prevent a split?

nowitsenough · 29/01/2015 09:48

They showed Felinfoel brewery sign I think. So could be Felinfoel/Llanelli.

Cherrypie32 · 29/01/2015 09:48

I'm sure in old episodes of this kids used to try out schools.

theconstantvacuumer · 29/01/2015 09:49

So strange that the wee girl is desperate to move. I wonder if she has many friends at home and school.

wobblebobblehat · 29/01/2015 09:50

People think they are suddenly going to change if they move to Oz (i.e. work less hours, spend time as a family bungy jumping, playing in the park)....

Yeah right...

Davros · 29/01/2015 09:50

The daughter even has a separate living room at home !

Cherrypie32 · 29/01/2015 09:51

Nikki just said it, all Bee wants is more family time. Sort it out parents.

theconstantvacuumer · 29/01/2015 09:51

Who looks after Bea when those two workaholics are out of the house?

Davros · 29/01/2015 09:52

Salaries don't ring true. Over egging it for tv?
