Snap, unexpected!

HollyJollyDillydolly · 07/01/2015 09:50

Hahaha at Gentle having to get her hair done less :)

Sparklingbrook · 07/01/2015 09:52

Morning. This is all a bit yawnsome isn't it?

floellabenjaminsearrings · 07/01/2015 09:52

At least he is realistic about the fact that they are only better off because she would be working.

Sparklingbrook · 07/01/2015 09:53

Don't worry Grandpa they are only a 36 hour flight away.....

floellabenjaminsearrings · 07/01/2015 09:55

I really felt for his dad then, and I am not normally susceptible to that kind of thing.

EveDallasRetd · 07/01/2015 09:55

Oh god. I've travelled so much, and lived overseas a number of times. But after that, I just couldnt. Old men crying just slay me.

MrsTawdry · 07/01/2015 09:55

I'm moving to Oz in the Summer. I can't stand this show. They take people around to see the most ridiculous, luxury houses and then say "Brenda is shocked at the prices in Adelaide..."

Cut to Brenda sitting on beach picking up pebbles all sad.

"I thought I'd earn more as a hairdresser out here."

Unexpected · 07/01/2015 09:58

I have just cheated and looked at the update on the website - only because I am so bored by this episode! (Apart from his poor Dad)

Sparklingbrook · 07/01/2015 09:59

Me too Unexpected all a bit jammy esp the job bit.

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 07/01/2015 10:00

If my kids (and gcs) ever even DREAM of going on this show, when I do the little film I'm going to have an ab so lute SHIT FIT

floellabenjaminsearrings · 07/01/2015 10:01

I always get the impression the editing in this show is quite creative, but there must be so much going on that we didn't see for them to make that decision. The update makes everything sound perfect - just doesn't fit with what was in the show.

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 07/01/2015 10:04

...my mum shat a brick when I moved to London from the NE. Ffs.

My kids can go as far as Canada- for two years tops- and that's IT

MrsTawdry · 07/01/2015 10:09

My kids can go where they blinking well want to! I can't bear the whole guilt trip thing.

Vagndidit · 07/01/2015 10:10

I still don't get why this family wanted to move to NZ. I know she was born there and all. Perhaps there's some off-camera extended family still there we haven't seen.

I took my parents' only grandchild 4000 miles away to live here in the UK so I have nobody to blame but myself and DH's bloody academic career if he buggers off across the world some day.

Sparklingbrook · 07/01/2015 10:13

If my two wanted to go I wouldn't try and stop them or anything, and I would try not to let on how upset I would be.

The thought of going into old age without my sons around me is a horrible one.
To choose a place over real living people? Sad

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 07/01/2015 10:15

that is admirable Mrs Tawdry

I feel that, since I gave my kids life, the very least they can do is be on hand forever to pop down to Sainsbury's for me

MrsTawdry · 07/01/2015 10:16

I doubt they'd both go Sparkling but I think it's best as a parent to prepare mentally for anything. I have two DDs and if they one or both decide to live abroad, then that's their life and choice....I don't think it's always as simple as "choosing a place over people" either. But sometimes looking at what is best for an entire family and their future.

I have to move away from England and my Mum...luckily she has three other children but it's still tough. But my DH will be earning way more, my children will have a better, smaller high school to attend and those things are important.

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 07/01/2015 10:18

Sparkling I had a nanna in the playground the other day, talking about one of her sons moving to NZ at 50 (no gcs)

a little tiny tear trickled down her powdery cheek- she said 'what can I say? I have to wish him well, don't I'

HEARTBREAKING

EightToSixer · 07/01/2015 10:18

Oooh gentle and family moved over to Adelaide. Blooey kept his uk job and works from new home remotely. Jammy!

MrsTawdry · 07/01/2015 10:19

Muddha that's very sad....did she have any other DC?

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 07/01/2015 10:21

yes! she has three more and loads of gcs to boot! She still couldn't bear it, though

I fear I'd be like that

Sparklingbrook · 07/01/2015 10:22

For me personally nothing is more important than real life people. People aren't forever. Sad

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 07/01/2015 10:22

Adelaide? How odd, thought they had a personal attachment/tie to NZ

anothercantthinkofanothername · 07/01/2015 10:25

Update says Auckland
