It's a hoot , everyone is so full of themselves.

Day 2 and no grey yet Shock

Charming sweb.
It's just a program. Calm down.

GertiesNotDirty · 06/11/2014 07:09

What is the 99.5% of interior design sweb?
Because if I employed an interior designer to 'do' the lounge in my house, I'd be pretty annoyed if they only spent 0.5 % of their time on curtains and cushions as I love the soft furnishings in my room and curtains particularly ££££.

FunkyBoldRibena · 06/11/2014 07:11

Swebb. Did you not get the gig love? There there.

ArthurShappey · 06/11/2014 07:20

Gosh sweb! I'm sure there is quite a lot to interior design, but amateurs can do it - it's not brain surgery. Although the Great British Brain Surgery Challenge sounds quite interesting. Calm down and allow people to enjoy their programme and this thread.

Incidentally I'm pretty sure that most interior designers wouldn't agree that only 0.05% of interior design is about 'colours'.

ArthurShappey · 06/11/2014 07:20

Said better by funky Grin.

Nightboattocairo · 06/11/2014 07:23

Masterchef, GBBO, Sewing Challenge, Watercolour Challenge, this prog; People like watching them, if it inspires people to have a go themselves, that's a good thing, isn't it, Sweb? Good on you for making it your career but I think you're missing the point of these shows.

bigTillyMint · 06/11/2014 07:26

Is this a repeat or a new series?

SugarPlump · 06/11/2014 07:28

You know Swebb your point would be a lot better received if you werent so angry. Even to the extent that you've posted on a zombie thread with the sole purpose of slagging the show off. Humm interesting, any one would think you had an agenda!

You advocate the use of organisations that represent proper interior designers, one of which one of the directors is a judge on this show!

These people are amateurs they are not "lucky" enough to have your 27 years experience. I presume you started some where!

Funny how at least three people have picked up your talking drivel yourself when you said 95% wasn't about the colours. You sound very very unprofessional and I would rather ask an amateur than you!

thecalicocat · 06/11/2014 07:32

New series. I am enjoying it but the standard of the contestants seems very low....some of those 'mood boards' look very childish. You would think a prime time show would attract a much higher calibre of applicant...or are they all to busy sneering at it? Surely winning a competition like this would open a few doors for them career wise?

SugarPlump · 06/11/2014 07:32

nightboat I actually thinkyou've kind of said what, SWebb's problem with this show is, it does encourage people to do it for themselves. It shows that amateurs can design a room.

Maybe that's the problem too many people coming up with their own ideas and night hiring you Swebb oh dear you can't be partially good then can you!

scarletforya · 06/11/2014 07:34

It's 'changing rooms' all over again. The grey room with the coral headboard and racing stripe was an utter car crash. Awful and amateurish.

It's watchable just to see then mangling perfectly lovely rooms!

OwlCapone · 06/11/2014 07:36

I love this programme precisely because is it so shit.

Not as much as I loved the recent one where the skinny designer let two amateurs trash someone's home though. DS1 and I used to watch that' aghast, and ask each other why the hell you'd let someone do that to your home.

In all of these, the "designer" does what they want rather than what the client has asked for. That is what makes more interesting TV I imagine.

ppeatfruit · 06/11/2014 07:38

YYYYYY SugarPlump and Arthur Shappey and others who've said similar Grin Grin

swebb82 · 06/11/2014 07:48

I am angry with the BBC who in my eyes are mis-representing the Interior Design profession and giving these guys and girls false hope that they will waltz into the Interior design profession as the result of appearing on this garbage. Nothing could be further from the truth - they would be send marching from any professional Interior design practice. If you research what it takes to get into this job in the first place you'll see what I mean. I am allowed to dislike this you know... sorry not to conform.. Enjoy the rest of the series and may your pea green walls, chintz and wicker baskets give you much joy.

Nightboattocairo · 06/11/2014 07:52

Well at least Sweb didn't say pebbly shit or twigs in a vase. Now that would really have cut to the quick.

OwlCapone · 06/11/2014 08:04

I am allowed to dislike this you know... sorry not to conform

You think you aren't conforming? Have you actually read the thread?

SugarPlump · 06/11/2014 08:04

Your allowed to dislike, swebb however joining a forum with the sole purpose of telling every one else their tastes are shit, and their watching drivel is not disliking it's being damn right judgemental!

I'd hope you'd be packing from an interior design practices as well because you've failed something I'd hope was fundemental to any interior designer's working - everyone has different tastes. You I presume design for your client, the bbc have designed a show for people's tastes! Yet your first line is why do people like this drivel? Why do people like your designs, why do people like any thing! There's a number of programes id rather die than watch! I don't come on threads telling people they watch drivel I letvthem watch it.

And oh where's the Chintz I've missed it or have you jumped to the conclusion that's what all interior design shows are about?!

ppeatfruit · 06/11/2014 09:12

Squeezy Where were we before being soo rudely interrupted? Grin Oh yes, I hope it's not another bedroom tonight they are a bit samey.

FunkyBoldRibena · 06/11/2014 09:44

m angry with the BBC who in my eyes are mis-representing the Interior Design profession

Oh my. Because that has never happened before.

Signed a professional garden teacher. Who has to tell every group that gardening is actual hard work, that weeds can co-exist with plants and that most gardening happens in the fucking winter!

ppeatfruit · 06/11/2014 10:49

FunkyBold Are you on our poetic gardening thread? you'd be very welcome and we're not beginners (not even gardening students!!).

Some of the gardening programmes on TV must drive you mad!

BOFster · 06/11/2014 11:24

It is possible to watch a show and enjoy it while being quite cynical about its premise. The X Factor threads would really give Swebb conniptions Grin.

ppeatfruit · 06/11/2014 11:29

Exactly BOFster. I don't think I'd watch anything without being critical actually!

DevilishIndeed · 06/11/2014 12:32

Oh my! What have I missed?! I didn't watch last night going to watch later today but just noticed how busy this thread got. Going to have a read through now!
