diddi yes I remember that conversation. It happens right after Ollie disappears and Emily's parents arrive in France to support Emily and Tony.

When FIL says "Do you think it's because of what we did?" Tony dismisses it.

Later on it emerges that Tony beat Greg up (because of the supposed affair - which Emily denies), Tony and FIL conspired to cover it up and Tony paid Greg off. FIL and Tony kept the whole thing secret from Emily and Emily won't speak to her father when she finds out.

I assumed that FIL was referring to the cover up.

Flibbertyjibbet · 26/11/2014 13:45

Ooooo! And Dartford would be doable in a taxi from eurostar.
Vincent mollies half brother and the lady in the home is Vincents mother.

funambulist · 26/11/2014 13:47

SomethingFunny and Trunchbull fantastic sleuthing! You two are running rings round Baptiste.

Can't work out how Ollie didn't have the scarf when he disappeared but it then turned up in the charity shop after a clear out at the house where he was held. I'll be annoyed if it proves to be a continuity error.

So, now we think that Vincent is Mary Garrett's son and Ian's step son? Is /was Molly Ian's daughter then or his stepdaughter?

diddl · 26/11/2014 13:53

"Later on it emerges that Tony beat Greg up (because of the supposed affair - which Emily denies), Tony and FIL conspired to cover it up and Tony paid Greg off. "

Yes, & if you'd done that & your child disappeared, would your first thought be that the two were connected?

SomethingFunny · 26/11/2014 13:55

Ollie isn't wearing scarf when he goes missing, but is in the photo which is released of him. I feel this is significant.

When there is a shot of Ollie's missing poster, underneath is another poster (we only see half) of lots of other children's faces. I wonder if this is significant? Lots of children go missing from the town?? It might just be random. I did look at the photos and I don't think any of them are Molly.

funambulist · 26/11/2014 13:57

Oh. I've just realised that Ian has been able to control Vincent with threats to Vincent 's mother because Ian is married to Vincent's mother. Perhaps he has said he'll stay away from Mary as long as Vincent doesn't reveal his secrets.

I wonder if Vincent helped Molly to escape once he realised that Ian was abusing her. Perhaps Ian had abused Vincent first.

SomethingFunny · 26/11/2014 13:58

Very good point about the FIL's comment.

What else can they have covered up to make him worry that Ollie could have been taken as a result??

EmilyGilmore · 26/11/2014 13:59

You know when Ian says re Molly, "that was a mistake" - I wonder if the mistake was in not killing her and her running away/being helped to escape?

FallonColby · 26/11/2014 14:00

Trunchbull I still think Vincent might be Ian's son or at least step-son, I wonder will Vincent set out to find Molly? diddl after the first episode that was my initial thought that as a judge/lawyer he may have been involved in an illegal adoption. It is interesting that Ollie was five and his parents didn't have anymore children, though I know that in itself isn't that uncommon it would fit with the adoption theory.

SomethingFunny · 26/11/2014 14:10

Next oooh... The scarf photo that set Tony off in the present day was posted on Facebook by Silve...

mewkins · 26/11/2014 14:16

So was he definitely not wearing t h e scarf when he went missing?? I thought he put iton after ggetting out of the pool...

mewkins · 26/11/2014 14:18

Also....how did vincent not know that ian went missing only a few days after he himself was questioned about the disappearance of olly? Was he really allowed to leave France and come to England a few days later?

SomethingFunny · 26/11/2014 14:24

Maliki blackmails the cop by using the word (sounds like) Cham-martaine.

SomethingFunny · 26/11/2014 14:25

Ollie was definitely not wearing the scarf. I checked twice...

plus3 · 26/11/2014 14:34

I agree - he isn't wearing the scarf at the exact time of disappearing. I wrote it off as a continuity error, although now I wonder..

mewkins · 26/11/2014 14:34

And why is the french cop in prison and what has the dodgy journalist got to do with it?

mewkins · 26/11/2014 14:35

Did he have a bag with him? And did they ever find his toy fox?

OttiliaVonBCup · 26/11/2014 14:37

If Ollie wasn't wearing the scarf when he disappeared and we didn't see him wearing it, the people who had access to his things were the hotel owner couple.

mewkins · 26/11/2014 14:42

Or.....it was in the car that was being repaired at the garage

Chefpepperjack · 26/11/2014 14:51

Erm, Vincent goes to the care home and has convo with Mary.
She's not his mother.
Well not the woman he is protecting, can anyone go back to the bit where he was looking at the photo?

rebelfor · 26/11/2014 14:51

I think Chefpepperjack was meaning to post this here, not in a AIBU thread..... Grin

rebelfor · 26/11/2014 14:52

x post Grin

SomethingFunny · 26/11/2014 14:55

The scarf was in a bag when they were all in a pub when Ollie demanded they went swimming, it can clearly be seen on the seat beside Tony.

After swimming when entering the bar, Ollie is carrying a bag over his shoulder, and a snorkel pipe thing and small inflatable orca in his hand. He is wearing a green tshirt, thin hoodie thing (unzipped) and shorts (no scarf).

After Ollie disappears, Tony goes outside the bar and finds the bag, snorkel pipe and orca on the ground.

I am pretty sure now that this isn't a continuity error (it would be a major clanger, especially as they went to the trouble of showing the scarf in the pub earlier). Ollie wasn't wearing the scarf. Tony has forgotten this. I think he may remember soon. Someone has seen the picture of Ollie wearing the scarf in the picture taken that day and assumed he was.

I cannot fit this into a theory (especially to relate it to how it was in the basement, how it ended up in a charity shop with extensive records and how it happened to clearly be in a picture that Silvie face booked and Tony saw. We all thought it was a bit of a massive coincidence that the scarf was so easy to trace... Maybe it was meant to be found).

dingit · 26/11/2014 14:56

I always watch this on Wednesday afternoon. It takes me an hour to watch and an hour to read this thread for all the bits I didn't understand. Smile I have no theories to add, but the ending is either going to be amazing, or, why on earth did I bother?

TheDogsMissingBollock · 26/11/2014 15:10
