Anyone watching , so far quite tense especially the music

OP posts:
BingoBonkers · 13/11/2014 00:01

The video which had the boy in the window was eerie wasn't it?

rootypig · 13/11/2014 06:35

The scarf looks like cotton or jersey, rather than wool. Remember, the people who bought it are pictured in a Bastille Day (mid July) photo - so it's obviously not a winter scarf.

/nitpicky

noddyholder · 13/11/2014 11:00

The video was blurry so could have been the liaison officers son too as Ollys mum did mistake them for each other so similar looking SO video could be a fake

Flibbertyjibbet · 13/11/2014 11:12

I also thought the liaison officers son as a 13 yr old is strikingly like Olli e's mum.

I am thinking a case of wrong child taken, liaison officer involved in something and knows the wrong child taken, hence him being so smug when James nesbitt character brought in for questioning.
Dp also says the child did not have the scarf on... says dad put it down in changing room whilst searching round the pool for ollie.
Some of it seems far fetched though... like someone never noticing that on a video for years.
But I have to keep watching as I am in lerrrve with the copper who is now in prison. Oh and of course I am brushing up my french now that not every line is subtitled....

Flibbertyjibbet · 13/11/2014 13:17

Where is liaison officers wife when he is working in France? Is he divorced/widowed etc. Something about her will come out at some stage I am sure.

BingoBonkers · 13/11/2014 13:49

Certainly something a bit off with the Liaison chap I agree.

I suppose it could have been his son in the video.

Really don't like the journalist.

eddiemairswife · 13/11/2014 13:57

I can't understand why the liaison officer, who was on holiday at the time, was suddenly involved. Surely there would have to be some official communication with the UK first.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/11/2014 14:10

They only noticed it on the video because the zoomed in and blew it up, it wasn't clear otherwise.

diddl · 13/11/2014 15:07

Trying to watch the 2nd ep, but james Nesbitt is just ruining it for me.

noddyholder · 13/11/2014 15:16

I was in a drama group with him when I was about 13 as you can see he has done slightly better than me!

susiedaisy · 13/11/2014 15:53

I'm watching but getting confused

Why is the French police man now in jail?
The journalist was asking that police man about someone else who was also in jail who was that?

Thank you clever people Grin

MySweetPrince · 13/11/2014 16:02

Have just watched (and paused) when Ollie went missing from the bar and he definitely isn't wearing the scarf. He has a back pack over his shoulder which Tony finds on a step when he runs out of the bar.Tony drops the back pack in the changing rooms whilst searching for Ollie. So how does the scarf end up in the cellar.

pinkfrocks · 13/11/2014 16:18

Don't think it's at all significant that the 'other boy' looks like Ollie's mum- just a casting coincidence imo.

It's annoying me a bit that it's so much in some ways like the McCann's right down to him being accused of murdering his son.
Not quite sure why the writer had to make it so similar in parts. It's quite hard sometimes to totally detach from the real life event of MM and this drama.

pinkfrocks · 13/11/2014 16:19

I think they have made a continuity error with the scarf.

NannyHat · 13/11/2014 16:24

It's a big continuity error though, isn't it? The whole reason they found the basement was because of the scarf that he was wearing when he went missing.

I watched the first half of episode 1 earlier, the last time the scarf is seen is in the mums bag in the cafe when the boy asks to go swimming. It's not seen at the swimming pool at all.

noddyholder · 13/11/2014 16:26

I think his mum gave him the scarf when she 'let him go' and that the scene with her hugging him by the pool was real recollection of something that happened

NannyHat · 13/11/2014 16:31

Noddy I thought that, but then would they risk doing that by the pool that he was taken from?

BOFster · 13/11/2014 16:31

It's the sort of thing the police would have picked up on at the time, surely? They'd want to know exactly what had been in the backpack, and if anything was missing.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/11/2014 17:09

When someone is murdered the police always suspect nearest family members so that really isn't a similarity to the Macanns,I expect it's exactly the same with abductions.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/11/2014 17:10

Ooooo noddy, good theory!

lalsy · 13/11/2014 17:31

Noddy, I am being a little slow, do you mind explaining your theory a little more?

diddl · 13/11/2014 17:43

Was he actually wearing the scarf when he went missing though or just that James Nesbitt character recognised the scarf on the pics & that's why it all started up again?

SolomanDaisy · 13/11/2014 17:53

I think he was wearing a scarf in the 'fantasy' scene by the pool, wasn't he?

LittleBairn · 13/11/2014 18:05

That ending scene at the window was chilling.
I think the pedophile ring that's being hinted at may be a red hering.
I'm suspicious of the new husband. It's weird how he inserted himself into a life playing happy familie with his son replacing hers.
Has it been mentioned where Danielles mum went? I've assumed she's dead since the kid seems to be with them permantly.

ProfYaffle · 13/11/2014 18:10

I had to go back and watch the kidnap scene again today to make sure about the scarf!

Diddl - Ollie had to have the scarf with him because it came from the house where he'd been held. James Nesbitt traced it back there via the 2nd hand shop.

I hope it's not as pedestrian as he just had it in his pocket instead of round his neck.
