I noticed in the very first episode that he wasn't wearing the scarf when he disappeared. It CAN'T be a mistake - it's too important! So it must mean something.... Hmmmmm

This is a bit sad, but I have just watched that scene again...Tony picks up something yellow, smaller than a towel (but possibly squarer than the scarf), as if at random and dries the little boy's hair with it. Then you see them heading for the bar and it looks like Ollie has some sort of novelty rucksack on. Could he have dried his hair with the scarf and then put it in the bag as it was damp with the swimming stuff? I once dried ds hair on his pants. Am I overthinking?

They go swimming late afternoon I think - while they are getting changed dusk falls, and the people at the bar are in jackets and things, it is evening in northern Europe sort of look? I can't see why he'd be wearing that scarf at all - it is an odd thing for a child to latch onto (and my dc have latched onto odd stuff!).
