Corrie thread - still no sign of Cilla or Fat Brenda but Kim Tate on the horizon

Here we are again - a brand new thread for more Corrie ramblings.

Can't believe Cilla still hadn't turned up by the end of the last thread.

Still hoping for an enormous cast-cull. Hoping for a bomb / gas explosion / serial killer / all of the previous.

When I think of uncle Albert the image merges with Norris. Neither having a good word to say about anybody!

Agree re Maria, her character has become totally pointless.
Can't abide Andrea. It's been a relief not to see her this week. I'm not a fan of Lloyd's either, tbh.

When Ken came home from University he had 'got above himself' and was irritated by his family's working class ways. Although his dad was proud of him he was puzzled by his attitude, and got on much better with Ken's brother who I think was a semi-professional footballer.

Think Andrea and Lloyd should elope. Eva is the most pointless of all. Community centre and gym both dreadful storylines. Zzzzzzzzz. I do like the bad Tracy though.

I love Eva. Think she is a great traditional Street character. Daft giggle, bit dosy but actually taking time with characters such as Kylie to try and help.

Jill2015 · 18/10/2014 19:54

I like Eva too. She will have to be written out for her maternity leave, I hope they just do something like have her visit her mother, not a daft storyline like Kylie's.

hildasmuriel · 18/10/2014 20:00

Visiting her Mum would be such a great obvious way to do it, no dramatics please. Kylie could have just gone to see Becky too. Maybe all the pregnant females will have to have sick relatives. Fizz could hop back with Cilla.

I honestly think with the large casts it would be quite easy to just not see a character on screen for quite a while, they could be

Alternatively they could be running the giant creche, wouldn't be seen for years then at work/in bed/out etc.

Stupid phone. The at work bit should have ended the paragraph above.

Is Fizz preggars?

I don't know why they bother to mention where they're going. Owen and Izzy haven't been in it for ages, we just assume they are around like Aldi and Asda not 'visiting'.

I prefer if it's a character that is in it a good bit, that they say where they are, e.g Deirdre. Bit silly when Peter was at death's door, a while back, Deirdre was lying down with a headache, and didn't go to the hospital, until later.
I'm glad they gave her a proper 'out' for now, even if she and Bev didn't seem to be in contact with one another... Grin

I love Eva too, I think she's really developed since the rest of the family left, she's come into her own.

onedrop Yes Fizz is pregnant, well Jenny McAlpine in anyway. jill I think you are right if they are crucial to the story or obviously missed then they need to say where they are (like why Deirdre is not in court as she obviously would be) but if they aren't crucial then they don't need to be. A lot of the older characters just come and go a bit and you don't really notice.

hildasmuriel agreed. I'd love if they forgot some characters, Yasmeen and sulky grandchild, I don't know ( or care) what his name is, Andrea, Todd, Faye, Gary, Izzy, Sophie, Michelle, Kylie, Sean, Lloyd, Maria, Katy, Chesney... I'd better stop!

For most of them, they needn't bother explaining an absence.

P.S. Love your nickname Grin

Agreed, and I hope that they write her out properly, and write her back in.

ugh, Maria. where is her dog? for that matter, where is her son?

drippy Sinead needs a rocket up her.

who remembers Deirdre's cock-and-balls ornament above the cooker?

Actresses playing fizz Eva and I think Kylie are all pregnant

Agree. Sinead would be another for my list to go, and nobody would notice.

Thanks jill I loved Hilda but exwife I do now quite fancy a change of nickname to deidrescockandballs. What the he'll was that thing? There was another one if I remember correctly that had a bit of a look of a lady's area about it so someone in the prop department clearly having a laugh. I always wonder what the boy scout and Jesus print in their hall is all about too.

I actually go against the grain with which characters should go. I think most are good characters but the storylines don't allow us enough time to spend with them and explore them properly. Sinead is a classic case in point. I think she is far more suited to Chesney than the glam Katie. I like her gentleness and sensible ways but we don't really know her. Personally I would rather much less happens but we saw some depth from the characters and they did away with the personality changes we see all too often which are done to drive the storylines not the characters.

Aww, I was a huge fan of Hilda's too, she was excellent. I think one of the best and most moving clips that they show in those 'best of Corrie' programmes is Hilda sitting at the table, after Stan died, with his glasses in her hands, crying quietly over them.
Such a simple scene, and so realistic.

Yes, I see what you mean about someone like Sinead. I do think they have made Ches into an absolute goon though.

I agree about letting characters develop, and some characters grew on me, over time. Eva is one example. I never disliked her, but I really like her now, and she has come into her own in the last while.
Tim was another, he didn't seem to be going to stay around, so I used to not notice him very much. Now he and Sally crack me up, I think it was brilliant putting them together. I think Kev has notions of Sally again but I want Tim and Sally to stay together.

I love Sally and Tim together. Really funny couple. It would be so dull if she gets back with Kevin.

I love Sally and Tim too.

I love it when old characters pop back. I would like to see Man is (she and Rita must be in touch). I loved Angie Freeman but not sure she would know anyone really. Becky could be good even though she wasn't my favourite, definitely Karen Macdonald. Spider? Toyah? Not many of the old old guard left.

Jenny Bradley is to return, I think. I'm not sure if it's just briefly, or will she be staying around.
I wasn't mad on her. I'd much prefer, as you have said, Mavis, for example.
I wonder if Jim is back to stay?

Report
hildasmuriel · 19/10/2014 18:25

I saw about Jenny too. A bit of a random character to bring back really. Will only Rita remember her, although Kevin, Sally be just a bit older but can't remember if they were friendly?

I would like to see Debbie, Kevin's sister back. I remember liking her as a character, I think she used to wind Kevin up.

I think Jim will depend on the outcome for Peter although they could keep the storyline about him harassing Liz. Can't see him being back long term.

Cilla is apparently coming back for a short stint soon, although the actress who plays her is questioning why she agreed, as she can't stand the character!
