Corrie thread - still no sign of Cilla or Fat Brenda but Kim Tate on the horizon

Here we are again - a brand new thread for more Corrie ramblings.

Can't believe Cilla still hadn't turned up by the end of the last thread.

Still hoping for an enormous cast-cull. Hoping for a bomb / gas explosion / serial killer / all of the previous.

Yes, she is due back very shortly, maybe it's a way of writing Fizz out for her maternity leave, I don't know, just guessing. We will have to have a new thread then.

Agree re Jenny. I think she reappeared before, but she just wanted money from Rita. Sometimes it works bringing someone back, sometimes it doesn't, IMO.
I'm glad they brought Liz back, for example. Apart from anything else, I'd hate Michelle to be the main woman behind the bar of The Rovers with her arm folding and eye rolling.
Not sure if Jim's return is a great idea. I know it is linked in with Peter and the storyline has some interesting aspects, but...

What the hell is that strange shelving in Eva/Leanne's flat above the cooker - I think it's heart shaped and holding some strange shoe ornaments - it's almost as hideous as the stuff in Fizz's living room.

I'm not keen on Carl's mum and the library storyline.

I am guessing that Cilla's return is something to do with Fizz going off. The actress said she can't stand the character so must have been persuaded to come back.

I wonder what the next big story will be once the Tina/Peter/Rob/Carla/Tracey stuff out of the way. Please not the Faye thing.

I haven't noticed the strange shelving in Eva's but going to be looking out for it. Tyrone and Fizz's makes me laugh as it exactly them superimposed on Jack and Vera's house.

Carla better turn Rob in otherwise she'll go right down in my estimation. Trust it all to come to a head at a wedding! Typical! Leave Gail and Michael alone fgs, I like them together. I definitely think that Eileen needs to find a nice partner though. Shame it didn't work out with the fireman and there's no one else around suitable.

What was the last corrie wedding that went without a hitch lol? Without someone being carted off, or some secret being revealed? My fil was a registrar for years and he never had a wedding not happen on the day!

Or a funeral that didn't result in a row?

I like Gail and Michael together and I've said it before and I will say it again, I would love to see Eileen and Lloyd get together and be a snarky, narky couple who love each other to bits.

Knew it would be guilty after the trailers. Think Carla will save him.

Neither Fizz nor Gail showing any empathy for Peter given that they both went to prison for crimes they didn't commit. It does not seem to have occurred to either that the court could have it wrong.

I am getting SO fed up of them constantly rehashing the same story lines.

oh FFS scriptwriters, that was not the right verdict. Poor Simon.

Also poor Roy, this burglary storyline doesn't really sit right with me either, they seem determined to put him through trauma after trauma.

Yes the Roy burglary thing is too much. It would be enough to see how he copes with his ongoing grief.

I'm hoping the burglary storyline leads somewhere positive for Roy. Something like he befriends one of the yobs and turns their life around like he and Hayley did with Fizz, or it makes him reach out and get more support from his neighbours. Or something.

Just not unrelenting misery please.

I think they will have to move that storyline on fairly quickly re Peter. Otherwise they will have to have Ken hoping to visit him, without showing the visits. Chris Gascoyne is gone by next month afaik.

Agree re Roy. I felt so sorry for him, when he hid from the young guys on the street. I would like to see him having a nice storyline, because he is an excellent character. Not anything involving Yasmeen and her books please...

Are the writers that hard up for ideas that we have to rehash that story line too?

They need to do with Simon that thing they sometimes do with child actors - i.e not show them for a few months and then quietly replace them with a pro.

The existing Simon is awful.
