...in the Archers?

Or is it just my devious mind?

aha

I must say I hadn't seen it coming but we will get plenty of warning

emsiewill · 22/06/2006 21:57

Well, you know they had a bbq for her birthday and Kirsty "couldn't come". Also, when David was injured and couldn't do the milking, they enjoyed spending time together...and she was getting ratty with David for being so crap in the house.

oooooooooh
yes I see where you are coming from
there are a few Archers types on here
they will coming out of the woodwork before you now it

emsiewill · 22/06/2006 22:00

I do not have much contact with Archers fans in real life, only my 64 yr old auntie who I see maybe 4 times a year, so the opportunity to "talk" about it is great.

And I'm not enough of an Archers professional to go on the boards on the R4 website.

This storyline has been simmering away quietly almost since Sam arrived - he had a girlfriend then and Ruth was always making pointed enquiries about her (what was she called, anybody? Have forgotten...) - this is probably going to lead to big row between R&D, big bust-up, big making-up and another adorable little Archer [gag][spit]

harpsichordcarrier · 22/06/2006 22:44

ooooh nooooo!
[bad Geordie accent]
god how can I have missed that one??

JanH · 22/06/2006 22:46

But they have so much in common, hc!

(ie cows )

MrsJohnCusack · 22/06/2006 22:47

I was thinking that!

DH's cousin and wife used to write for the Archers but I don't think they do any more - so no chance of finding out from there

emsiewill · 23/06/2006 16:13

His g/f was called Fliss.

He is always so admiring of Ruth's ability with the cows...I think he doesn't think David appreciates what he's got.

yes I thought that was where they were going, but then I was expecting Ian's friend Mads to be the next notch on Brian Aldridge's bedpost (with accompanying destruction of Smug Farm and Smug Jennifer).

can anyone tell me what the deal is with the gay fathering story? I missed the critical episode and am confused...

niceglasses · 23/06/2006 16:23

Yes, sounds like it. Been waiting for her to have an affair for ages.

Also thought David was going to have some terminal illness as always moaning about how tired he was, though seems to have stopped lately.

emsiewill · 23/06/2006 16:24

Mads has asked Ian to father her child - that's why she split up with her husband because she wanted children and he didn't. I haven't heard any since last Sunday's omnibus, so don't know what has happened since...don't imagine Adam will be too pleased about it.

Can imagine Brian going for Mads - after all he seems to like Irish women.

emsiewill, I thought she was but the Ruth actress is called Felicity so I thought I was transferring or something

There you go!

meowmix · 23/06/2006 16:29

oooh so maybe its still on the cards? then you could have a lovely love triangley thing - is the baby Ian's or Brian's??

emsiewill · 23/06/2006 16:31

Oh, and must agree with the gagging and spitting about "another adorable little Archer".

So many of the characters are soooooo 'perfect' aren't they? Just a bit holier-than-thou for my liking (eg Shula, Jill). Or 'salt of the earth' like Clarrie, or 'pantomime villain' like Matt.

But I still love it though. And 'listen again' on the R4 website has meant that I have been able to keep up with it much more.

OP posts:
meowmix · 23/06/2006 16:32

Shula is just awful. So sanctimonious. If I was Alistair I'd have drowned her in a horse trough by now

Tommy · 23/06/2006 16:35

am a bit worried that Sam will want to have an affair - he does seem to have a bit of a crush on Ruth doesn't he? But surely Ruth would never do anything like that?!

Tommy · 23/06/2006 16:37

Clarrie seems to be getting very close to Mike too.....

kalex · 23/06/2006 16:41

The Adam and Ian story line is good though!

Ellbell · 23/06/2006 23:02

Ooh, Tommy, I thought that about Clarrie and Mike too. But Clarrie? Really? Not sure that anything will happen, but scope for Eddie to get the wrong end of the stick and go off in a huff.

Lact8 · 23/06/2006 23:05

Ooh emsie, i always thought he was being a bit familiar with her This one has been building up really slowly

Tommy · 23/06/2006 23:05

mmmm - have to keep our eye on that one.... (or rather ear )

ScummyMummy · 23/06/2006 23:08

Definitely- they've been hionting for yonks. Haven't heard oit for a while but listened to it in an incidental way about a month ago and thought eh up what's going on here then?

What's happened to Ed, btw? Did William murder him or summat?

JanH · 23/06/2006 23:14

If he did he got away with it when interviewed in a pointed fashion by some sort of police person, scummy.

Fallon thought she spotted Ed in Felpersham the other day.

I think he's gone to see Beth - assuming he had the money for the fare - unless he stowed away of course?

quanglewangle · 23/06/2006 23:15

This is what I reckon.
Sam has definitely fallen for Ruth and thinks she feels the same.
She has inadvertantly led him on by being too friendly, the wanton/naive hussy.
She will be horrified when Sam declares his undying love.
Who will get custody bof the cows?
