...in the Archers?

Or is it just my devious mind?

What I reckon will happen is that Sophie will try very hard to get The Stupid One to succomb to her charms and engineer some kind of situation where he escorts her home from one of those Sundial House dos (which seem to happening with alarming frequency) and she pretends to come over all weak and tearful and says she can't face being on her own that night... The Stupid One will ring Rooth (who'll be sipping her cocoa in her wincyette nightie) to tell her can't leave poor Sophie alone in the state she's in. Rooth will see red , rummage though her drawers to find that little lacy number Deevid bought her after her mastectomy, wipe the tell-tale cocoa moustache from her upper lip and head purposefully to the cowsheds where Sam has just been delivering a calf in a tight, slightly work-soiled singlet...

Cue Barford Green (or whatever The Archers theme tune is called)

Frieda · 02/10/2006 10:05

I should know. I am, after all, married to ex-cowman Bert Fry

Lio · 02/10/2006 16:56

I actually caught the prog tonight; lovely Nigel suggests that as Ruth is a bit peed off about Sophie, Deevid should entertain Ruth next weekend for a romantic evening alone; Deevid agrees but says he won't tell her yet, it'll be a surprise - yeah, right, we can all see where that's going...

Tommy · 04/10/2006 22:18

oh dear.....

missed it tonight and won't be able to catch it tomorrow lunchtime either

Do you think David really has no idea what Ruth is getting at? Is he that naive?

Lilymaid · 04/10/2006 22:26

Romantic evening - Rooth and Deevid's favourite take away plus a DVD (what will Deevid choose - extreme tractor racing?). I think they need a good dose of TB again (perhaps with foot and mouth) so they are confined to the farm - no visits to Sophie, though presumably Sam the tedious cowman will still be around

emsiewill · 08/10/2006 20:50

I've just listened to the omnibus, and feel ashamed of myself; I was disappointed that the romantic evening was going so well. Thank goodness for the last minute intervention of "sophie's choice" of DVD...am I a bad person for wanting this storyline to continue?

Just shows how desparate for attention the poor petal is! I'd have vomited if my dh had done the same for me!

TinyGang · 09/10/2006 09:30

I was only half listening, but when Ruth and Deeeevid were having their row, I'm sure he called her a 'stupid cow'

This is Radio4...the Archers, no less. I shall have to compose a stiff letter to the BBC. There was no warning of foul language

Mind you, given that they live on a farm and Ruth is so into things bovine, perhaps it was a compliment?

TinyGang · 09/10/2006 14:41

HowwwlidaymumsTransylvaniaDeal · 10/10/2006 08:49

caffeinequeen · 15/10/2006 16:54

LOL at the last post!
Just wondered if anyone can enlighten me to what happened to Greg, someone who died 2.5 yrs ago, somehow entwined with Helen? Who was he? How did he die?
(anyone else think this Ross from the Borchester Echo is too good to be true?)

TinyGang · 15/10/2006 22:03

Did anyone hear it today??

PretendFriend · 15/10/2006 22:06

Greg was the gamekeeper (after George B), a lot older than Helen; she lived with him for ages, he suffered from depression and ended up shooting himself in the gamekeeper's hut (forget exactly why, time moves on, the little details slip away...)

ediemay · 15/10/2006 22:18

Oh joy, other Archers fans! I thought Rooooth was going all the way tonight, there was a lot of rustling.

Sophie is a calculating cow who sounds like an airhead.

Missed it tonight, what happened?

Lio · 16/10/2006 09:53

Hello again pretendfriend. Here is the summary of yesterday's fantastic episode (might be repeated 2pm ish today?). I tend to miss it a lot (flippin' kids, spoiling my fun ) so I get the summary of each episode emailed to me daily [sad addict emoticon]

Sunday edition
One kiss leads to another

Lynda?s had to cancel but Sophie persuades David they should go ahead
with
the evening ?meeting?. David?s soon admitting things aren?t great at
home.
Sophie?s just happy that David?s back in her life, and toasts the next
stage
of their beautiful friendship. David finds himself being kissed but
realises
this isn?t what he wants. Sophie insists she?s not looking for
commitment,
just the chance to enjoy themselves and make up for lost time.
Realising
what he?s got himself into, David tells her he?s sorry but he loves
Ruth and
thinks he?d better go.

Meanwhile, Ruth?s mind is racing. She phones Ambridge Hall, and fears
the
worst when Robert tells her Lynda?s at work. She phones Grey Gables,
and her
fears are confirmed.

Ruth runs to Sam, telling him that David is having an affair with
Sophie.
Sam can?t hold back any longer and tells her how he feels. He can?t
bear to
see David treating her this way. She deserves better and he wants to be
the
one to give her the love and attention she needs. Ruth realises what
Sam is
saying, and finds herself kissing him. Flustered by her action, she
pulls
back and apologises. Sam begs her to stay but Ruth?s head is spinning.
She
has to go.
