The New Doctor?

Or just the trailer for the 50th anniversary episode?

Or something else entirely?

OP posts:
IAmTheTwelfthDoctor · 04/08/2013 21:37

But they've said since they announced that Matt Smith was leaving that the regeneration would happen at the end of the Christmas Special, after the 50th Anniversary Special (which has already been filmed, with Matt Smith). Why was anyone expecting them to suddenly do it as a rush job in early August?

rosy71 · 04/08/2013 21:41

I have never heard of Peter Capaldi either. He does look quite Doctor-like though, so hopefully a good choice.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 04/08/2013 21:42

I do kind of agree it may be better to have a break from romance for a while (if that's what's planned)

Good to see men and women working together on a project eg saving the world/universe Grin without always half expecting them to fall into one another's arms at any moment.
Especially as an example to our youngsters !

rosy71 · 04/08/2013 21:43

Is this why the one bloke being interviewed referred to "Peter Eccelstone"? Slip of the tongue.......

JugglingFromHereToThere · 04/08/2013 21:43

Perhaps we don't all have your inside knowledge TwelfthDoctor Wink

WooWooSister · 04/08/2013 21:50

I love Peter Capaldi so I'm happy (although I did have a little wish that it would be Russell Tovey!)
Rosy71 I thought that when he said Peter Ecclestone too Grin

moggiek · 04/08/2013 21:57

Delighted that its Peter Capaldi!!

ll31 · 04/08/2013 22:03

Good choice, was good in torchwood as well ...

wibblyjelly · 04/08/2013 22:04

Someone linked this for me, as I had no idea who he is. He is growing on me Grin

Anjou · 04/08/2013 22:11

I haven't watched Doctor Who since the Peter Davison years. Colin Baker then COMPLETELY turned me off. Even McGann, Eccleston & Tennant weren't enough to get me interested again. I'll be watching Peter Capaldi though. Can't wait.

VileWoman · 04/08/2013 22:32

So happy, Peter Capaldi is one of my favourite actors (another one who saw the hand and squealed). Let's hope the scripts are better than the last series.

VileWoman · 04/08/2013 22:33

And PLEASE let him have a Scottish accent.

Talkinpeace · 04/08/2013 22:36

LOVE the Malcolm Tucker compilation.
Such eloquent work

Mumzy · 04/08/2013 22:37

Peter Calpadi looks like David Tennant's dadGrin

Pachacuti · 04/08/2013 22:51

No, he doesn't. This is David Tennant's dad. Peter Capaldi is thirteen years older than David Tennant and that's all he looks.

I am actually genuinely shocked by the number of people who consider 55 to be in some way over the hill and beyond the pale in casting terms.

difficultpickle · 04/08/2013 22:53

I assume PC will have a Scottish accent as I've never heard him with anything other than a Scottish accent in whichever part he plays.

rosy71 · 04/08/2013 23:46

David Tennant wasn't allowed to play the Doctor with a Scottish accent though.

HeadfirstForHalos · 04/08/2013 23:54

I'm saddened by some of the posts on here, like, "old freak" and a child saying "is Clara supposed to fancy that".

How about teaching our kids that not every bloody thing in this world is about SEX!

Eccleston brought the show back to life and he wasn't a whippersnapper, also how "shaggable" he was wasn't important. I will be glad if the flirty snoggathon storylines are cut back, hopefully we will get better ones over all.

There is nothing wrong with fancying someone off the telly but these reactions are plain odd.

squoosh · 04/08/2013 23:57

Peter Capaldi is an amazing actor and frankly Dr Who is lucky to have him!

HeadfirstForHalos · 04/08/2013 23:58

Plus my dc, aged 10, 9 and 7 (5 yr old couldn't give a hoot) thought he looks like "The Doctor" and can't wait to see him in it. I don't think they even noticed the age thing. If the show loses a few swoony teenage viewers, i'm sure they will be replaced by viewers looking forward to a more adult friendly show.

Pachacuti · 04/08/2013 23:59

But that was pre-Moff, rosy. He's more pro-Scot. I hope we get to keep the accent.

BeQuicksieorBeDead · 05/08/2013 00:01

I am so pleased...someone genuinely threatening and demanding of respect...makes a change from the love interest that the Doctor has become lately. I really like Matt Smith, particularly the quirky first episodes he did, but it just got weird and uncomfortable with Amy, River and Clara all wanting to snog him all the time...I mean, urghhh! I don't think kids want to see that.

If you want to see eye candy and loads of snogging, watch Hollyoaks for flips sake.

Cheddars · 05/08/2013 00:02

I think he looks more like the Doctor than Matt Smith ever has. Good choice.

I wish I could see wibbly's link though, I think youtube is trying to protect my innocence and showing a black screen instead. Sad

HeadfirstForHalos · 05/08/2013 00:03

I like his accent the way it is too. I loved Eccleston's northern accent Grin

As an aside we just HAD to go and get ice cream from here today

If it's close enough and your a Who fan it's well worth going! Scroll down the see the picture of this years straw sculpture, it moves and even talks!

Flobbadobs · 05/08/2013 00:25

Ahem, a little late Back to the party but may I please pop back in and say ....FUCKING YESYESYESYES!!! (Channelling my inner Malcolm Tucker there.. Grin)
I bloody knew it! DH said as soon as poor Rufus Hound started buggering up his lines "he's dropped a bomb there, it's Peter Capaldi".
Am a very happy person Smile
