The New Doctor?

Or just the trailer for the 50th anniversary episode?

Or something else entirely?

arf at " Look at you all, standing there with your thumbs up your arses like the world's shittest collection of novelty dildos. I'm the Doctor now. Wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey shitey-bitey fucking fish fingers and custard and all that bollocks. And I'm expected to deal with this. You useless bunch of catastrophic fucking dismal CUN..."

God I am enjoying this. I don't watch very much telly and my two favourite programmes have momentarily, unexpectedly, spectacularly, collided in the most pleasing fashion.

I need to enjoy it while it lasts, for the Doctor will be nothing like Malcolm Tucker and I will be ever so disappointed. But until December, Gerfuckingonimo!!

GameSetAndMatch · 05/08/2013 17:56

headfirst like what you said in your post at 23:54/

absolutely right!

MavisGrind · 05/08/2013 17:56

Balloon I'm with you on that - not much tv in this house either and 2 of my favourite things are briefly and beautifully tangled. With clever swearing. If only we could get some Horrible Historians in too ...

I'm another who hopes they get a new man at the writing helm. Really I'm surprised the BBC have kept Moffat and keep expanding his roles after some of things he's come out with - particularly that whole "women are needy and only want a husband while men can handle being alone and avoid commitment at all costs and men are the favoured everywhere but the west because here women cripple them" crap and the whole mess in Sherlock where Irene's asexuality is "boring" so hers gets changed but he mocked the idea of people seeing romance between Sherlock and Watson because they aren't 'wired that way' (apparently that can only change if it's boring, or maybe only for women). If anyone is behind the women being simpering and chasing after men, it's people thinking like that. However good his writing, it doesn't stop it from being problematic - fresh thinking is needed.

KayHarker · 05/08/2013 18:36

fuckety bye. Peeing myself laughing.

Davros · 05/08/2013 18:57

Yes, anyone who doubts Moffat's writing ability just watch Coupling, one of my favourite ever TV series, as well as Blink etc. he seemed to loose it when he took charge, should go back to basics or give up reigns. Also there was Joking Apart, brilliant!

The Guardian article and the second video made me laugh lots Grin

Thurlow · 05/08/2013 21:02

That second video is genius. "Run, you clever boy." - "Oh, fuck off."

Grin

I really, really don't like Clara.

teejwood · 05/08/2013 23:19

Ha - OK, fess up, who's on the Newsnight production team? They just signed out with video 2, complete with obligatory bleeping Grin

MavisGrind · 05/08/2013 23:24

Grin superb!

confuddledDOTcom · 05/08/2013 23:52

I'm looking forward to him taking over, I never really took to Matt, not sure if that was him (all silly and no straight) or the material. I think Peter will be able to do both as well as David did.

Someone commented on David's accent, they decided that because Chris had had a strong accent that it would be too much for the next Doctor to too. I'm hoping that there's been long enough for Peter to speak with a Scottish accent. Especially for the Americans over on Facebook who can't stop complaining about him Grin

Seriously not getting the 'he's not sexy enough' thing. Maybe it's because I'm getting older but I've fancied him since The Crow Road. It's called charisma, and I think it'll eventually work it's magic on even the squishiest squee-girl.

squoosh · 06/08/2013 11:51

I'm only a slip of a thing of 36 but I'm shocked at the 'he's not sexy' thing too. He is miles sexier than Matt Smith or David bloody Tenant.

Christopher Eccleston is v attractive too, maybe I just like the grumpy buggers.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 06/08/2013 11:59

I don't think he is attractive - his mouth is too feminine - but that doesn't matter. Dr Who is not about being fanciable. I don't believe anyone would have fancied Matt Smith if they had met him in McDonalds.

GlaikitFizzog · 06/08/2013 12:04

H no, if I saw matt smith in mcds I so would! Floppy floppy hair, those cheekbones and jaw! Yes please! But if we all fancied the same people it would be a dull world!

I am awaiting seeing him as "The Doctor" before I decide if I'm going to throw my spanx at him! :o

SoupDragon · 06/08/2013 12:07

floppy floppy hair

Um... not any more he doesn't!

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 06/08/2013 12:10

Snap KayHarker I first noticed him as Uncle Rory in BBC's "The Crow Road" too. It was a long time ago and he has been on the radar ever since. Ticks many boxes.

GlaikitFizzog · 06/08/2013 12:11

I know :(

FrankelInFoal · 06/08/2013 12:41

Glaikit, did you see the photoshoot MS did for (I think) Empire Magazine last year? It was very Bowie-esque

FrankelInFoal · 06/08/2013 12:50

For Glaikit Grin
