Yes. I think I missed the NW heats whch is a shame. I love Aiden Burne.
This lot (central) are all OK, I don't like Daniel from Cambridge though and I'd have been furious to bite into an onion bhajee and find a sheeps bollock inside.

MousyMouse · 20/04/2012 17:14

only discovered that it is on yesterday, so watched the rest of scotland and all central ones today Blush
really liked the 'roast chicken' and crispy fish...hope he wins today.

I don't want him to win - he is pretty cocky. I understand that you have to be, but still.
I always smile a bit at Glynn Purnell the judge. His earring really tickles me for some reason.

pollywollydoodle · 20/04/2012 21:44

chicken spray....Hmm

MousyMouse · 20/04/2012 21:52

to spray on a scent that smells as if been working in the kitchen...

wouldn't know whether to put it on myself my food or just laugh....rest of it looked great though..

ripsishere · 21/04/2012 07:35

DD was very upset when he won. I tried to point out that the judges preferred his food.
She said it wasn't fair because the other man was much nicer. Again, I tried to tell her it wasn't a personality competition, she wasn't having it.

ChairOfTheBored · 21/04/2012 11:21

I've been watching it - but like others only seen the Scotland and Central heats.

My favourites so far have been the fish dish by the chap who won the Scotland heats - not sure I think it's the tastiest, but loved the little beetroot meringues. I'm pleased I'm not the only one to raise an eyebrow at 'bollock bhaji'

Collision · 22/04/2012 20:37

It is on at the wrong time!

I keep missing it.

6.30pm was perfect before but 7.30pm is just not OK.

Daniel was a cocky git! Did not like him.

Love Matthew and Pru but the other poncey chap is annoying!

ripsishere · 23/04/2012 21:08

WTAF was the quail forest all about? by the time you'd found all the 'elements'
I think you'd be too tired to be bothered to eat it.
I didn't think much of any of the starters TBH, but was ridiculously touched by beardy mans dad's pride in his son.

Idontknowhowtohelpher · 23/04/2012 21:48

I think the woman chef didn't think it through properly. If it had been a competition just about what chefs can do in 1.5 hours, then making your own goats cheese would have been great. But this wanted more than that.

I thought that the judge was far more overtly critical than the previous judges - or perhaps the chefs cooking was worse? Grin

ripsishere · 23/04/2012 22:00

True, I was astonished by the low marks. I think quail man was too. His face was a picture - he went from confident to crumpled in three seconds.

pollywollydoodle · 23/04/2012 23:39

bah, missed it again

Goggles?

No.

MousyMouse · 24/04/2012 20:20

I'm a day behind...goats cheese is never a good idea, either you love it or hate it I hate hate hate it

Is it just me, or are this lot just not as good? I mean goggles? What the actual jeff? I think she may well have missed the point...

That said I like the very beardy fella who is in first place at the moment, but unless the main course and puddings are incredible I can't see that any of the dishes form this week posing too many problems to the prvious weeks' winners (even though I hated the Cambridge fella with his 'Impulse - eau du sunday dinner' spray...)

ripsishere · 25/04/2012 10:23

I just smiled and breathed out of my nose at the same time at description of dire Danials impulse Sunday dinner. Ginger cat jumped off the sofa.
Last nights was peculiar, especially Steph with her sense inhibitors. Surely nose clips would stop you tasting. Bizarre.
I am looking forward to the NW. Aiden Byrne should be on it, he has a place five miles or so away.
Roll on tonight when the mains are done. I don't like fish so last night didn't really interest me
And, beardy quail man was very naughty plating up early. He should have been deducted marks for that. Very ungentlemanly.

Collision · 26/04/2012 23:06

Well the puds were uninspiring!

The woman COMPLETELY missed the point of the brief!

The souffle was meh!

The choc rhubarb thing with split custard was odd.

Dreadful.

agree, worst so far.
I only really liked the look of the beef and the rock pool.

as a side note, I like how they scrub down he kitchen after use. they are wellcome to do that at my place

OP posts:
Idontknowhowtohelpher · 28/04/2012 13:57

But then they sit on the worksurfaces!

I guessed Colin would go through - they really liked his fish course.

There aren't many weeks that I don't fancy trying any of the food - but this week got very close!

ripsishere · 01/05/2012 09:04

Phew, so a new week starts.
I don't know any names Blush but thought the man with the pigs knackers was very misguided. Who wants a bollock for a starter?
I don't believe they wipe their worktops down. That's for show. Haven't you seen the army of helper people in the background? They are dressed in black.
