I know Simon Hulstone [preens]

ripsishere · 01/06/2012 06:59

Much better week, I really like the judge too. He is positive about everything, and makes encouraging suggestions rather than the snotty ones made by another.
I don't really think he can be a proper judge if he can't eat seafood. What an awful allergy for a chef.
Roll on tonight and Oliver in a red t.shirt.

MousyMouse · 03/06/2012 08:48

yes I liked this week's cooking, would have liked to taste all of it bar the fish liver.
glad that nathan finally got through!

Good old Nathan, he tried so hard. I don't think he'll get far with his pudding though. It was very ordinary.

DukeHumfrey · 03/06/2012 09:14

He'll probably be going for the fish course. Though I thought his main was rather interesting - and there have been some very ordinary main courses so there is less competition there I think.

ripsishere · 03/06/2012 09:52

he is strangely emotionless. That is preferable to the egos all over the place I s'pose.

Changethatbulb · 03/06/2012 12:09

Once again, Oliver did not agree with Pru and Matthew.

Well done to Nathan, though that pudding has to go or he has to at least cook the pastry correctly.

juneybean · 04/06/2012 19:02

Oo hour long tonight

Changethatbulb · 04/06/2012 22:00

I liked the spin on it tonight. It makes sense.

Sometimes the judges put through the menu they have liked the most but absolutely they have hated one of their dishes, or thought the menu didn't work as a whole.

I also think some chefs make more of an effort with some courses than another. You don't get many that fancy getting picked to do the dessert for example.

MousyMouse · 06/06/2012 08:30

I like the spin as well especially as it affected the most smug cooks in the first round

Nathan was soooo pissed off!

Oooh I love the spin on it.

I do feel sorry for Steven Terry though as I think he misread the brief and I do not like the gimics he has used so far.

His pudding is awful too so he wont get through this time.

I CANNOT STAND DANIEL! but think his chicken dish might get put through for the final meal.

Duck terrine with pineapple - Alan
Mackeral trio - Phil
Chicken - Daniel Angry

Cannot wait for dessert!

KurriKurri · 07/06/2012 12:38

I don't know why the judges ask them how they feel about coming 5th/6th/7th and then look astonished when they say they are disappointed and disagree that their dish was horrible.

Prue looked quite put out when Steven said he thought his dish was fine yesterday, and said 'well someone's got to lose' rather sharply. Grin

Having said that I haven't been impressed with Steven's dishes so far, - I like the look of everything Simon has cooked though, so I hope he gets something on the banquet menu.

I wonder if Nathan will be allowed to cook his soggy pastry lemon tart again? - hopefully he's come up with something different!

DukeHumfrey · 07/06/2012 13:27

I'm rather rooting for Chris Fearon's pudding. Can't remember what it was, only that it was his best dish, but he needs cheering up.

Changethatbulb · 07/06/2012 13:33

If Nathan cooks that lemon tart again, he's got more chance of becoming an Olympian than actually landing a top 3 place for the dessert course!

I think Daniel's chicken will get through, I though Nathan's duck and monkfish looked good, but don't know if they'd choose that on a menu that already has a fish course.

I'm struggling to remember any of the puddings (apart from Nathan's tart), I would think anyone who has a half decent one is in with a good chance!

Agreed Coconutty.

I too can't remember puddings as I mostly skip that part of the programme.

juneybean · 07/06/2012 15:26

The only pudding I recall is the one with bronze, silver and gold leaf... I think it went through at least.

Alan Murchison did a gold medal on a cushion. Very showy but was full of olives or something so tasted pretty yuk.
