made me very hungry.

I agree, although I don't like the smears. They look a bit toilety to me. I am a fan of big portions. You can always leave some. Nothing worse than enjoying something and finding yourself wanting more and there isn't any.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 16/05/2012 12:20

I'm not a fan of smears either. How can you possibly taste something if you only have a tiny scrape of it? And yy about small portions too.

I wondered if Phil wants a telly career now.
He doesn't seem to need the exposure cooking-wise.

ripsishere · 17/05/2012 09:50

I doubt Phill (double LL) needs a telly career.
I don't even like lamb, but I did like the look of Colin's piece. Not too sure I'd like beef sinews, definitely not anchovies. They are foul little fishy things.

sparkle12mar08 · 17/05/2012 20:11

How utterly boring was Phill's menu all week though?! A supremely talented chef in the Michelin field, but innovation was a key part of the challenge and he missed it every single time. He obviously just didn't get it.

MousyMouse · 18/05/2012 12:48

I just finished watching the meats.
the lamb dish looked delicious, esp the facon. just needs some potatoes or couscous to go with it.

I intend to watch last nights while I eat my dinner. Beans on toast not quite the same as what they produce.

MousyMouse · 19/05/2012 11:24

bit dissapointed that graham didn't get through, liked his down-to-earth style of cooking.

OP posts:
Idontknowhowtohelpher · 19/05/2012 11:37

I thought Graham's dessert was lovely! But his other courses didn't match up for a banquet. I warmed to Phill - but I still think a souffle for 100 people will be challenging.

Raahh · 21/05/2012 19:37

I like the Welsh lot- especially Angela as a judge. I'm not too keen on Stephen Terry, he can be a bit sulky in defeatGrin

Raahh · 21/05/2012 19:51

There's a lot of foraging going on this series.

Raahh · 21/05/2012 19:58

ooh, she's a tough one is AngelaGrin

Davros · 22/05/2012 11:52

I thought the food last night was very unexciting. I don't really like Angela Hartnett, in what way is SHE Welsh, she sounds like she's from Essex?! Also we were very excited some years ago to have lunch at her restaurant at, arm ir was a London Hotel, possibly the Connaught? It was truly awful and anyone else I've spoken to who went there had the same experience so it wasn't a one off. I also think its hilarious that the pizza part of GR's York & Albany is named after her grandmother "Nonna's". That's just Italian for grandmother, ha ha!

Tom Kerridge judging? Can't wait, he's lovely

ripsishere · 23/05/2012 12:50

I didn't see last nights, it's recorded but I won't watch it, I dont like fish.
I think, and I may write to teh BBC about it, that fois gras should not be used.
There are so many other sorts of food, it is unnecessary.

DukeHumfrey · 23/05/2012 12:52

There's a lot of foie gras this year, I've noticed.

I thought it was terribly Out Of Fashion for being cruel. Perhaps it's back In Fashion again.

Changethatbulb · 23/05/2012 13:25

Love Tom Kerridge.

Foie gras should be banned. As should those berry things the judges always say they dislike.

All this nitrogen crapola is getting to me as well. A lot of 'pearls' and fake caviar going on.

I don't watch the dessert course. Boring. I do like the way Oliver almost always disagrees with the other judges. Very entertaining. I look forward to Fridays.

ripsishere · 23/05/2012 13:32

You aren't out of fashion, it is bloody cruel and should be outlawed. IMO.

He could feed it to me Blush I think he is a bit of a sex god. He would be terribly mucky in bed.

Changethatbulb · 23/05/2012 14:34

Grin at Lulabellarama. I'd also add "it's so terribly predictable".

Also Grin but Shock at ripishere. He might be mucky is bed, but it wouldn't involve food. He would fold his clothes and glasses neatly and proceed to... (insert own imaginative fantasy here).

God, I need a man.

Changethatbulb · 23/05/2012 22:09

Rip - there should have been a warning before I clicked on that link.

Todays' programme was ok. Can't really imagine the licquorice with pork though. The short guy was GUTTED!
