I thought it might be an idea to start a new thread for The Reichenbach Fall since The Hounds got its thread up to over 200 pages since last Sunday!

Non-spoilery vague preview description: "Sherlock and John lock horns with their old enemy in one final problem that tests loyalty and courage to their very limits. Sherlock must fight for his reputation, his sanity and his life. But is he all he claims to be?"

BBC link for The Reichenbach Fall

Take note of the later start time of 9pm. Get your deerstalkers and spiffy pocket magnifiers ready!

Sorry, for my outburst there. Moffet just tweeted there would be a third series.
Sorry I got excited

givemushypeasachance · 15/01/2012 22:53

Mark Gatiss is being evil on twitter too - "Gotcha! And of course there'll be a third series! It was commissioned at the same time as series two!!"

They were all laughing while the fans tore at their hair, I bet!

Did anyone pick up on the graveyard scene what Watson said?

He was saying his emotional farewell and within his wording said 'i owe you' - which is what moriaty kept saying to sherlock. I wonder If the 'I owe you' link will come out in the explanation next series?

Did Anyone else pick that up?

diddl · 15/01/2012 22:55

I think that as they have been fairly true to the books, then it was a given that Sherlock wouldn´t die.

And he wouldn´t have to die even if they weren´t going to make another series.

CaveMum · 15/01/2012 22:55

Ooooooooohhhh. Do we think they filmed some of the next series while they were filming series 2?????!!!!!

[clutches wildly at straws]

I can't wait till 2014!!!!

MissAnnersley · 15/01/2012 22:56

Oh god yes, so he did. I didn't pick up on that at all spikemomma. I love the fact that everything is important and means something.

I seem to miss loads.

Greenknowe · 15/01/2012 22:56

Sherlock's not exactly keeping a low profile at the end is he Grin?! I was hoping for a new haircut, or at least a change of clothes. Mmmm... BC in biker leathers.....

Greenknowe · 15/01/2012 22:59

Sherlock said I owe you to Molly too..

MissAnnersley · 15/01/2012 22:59

I have to watch it again.

givemushypeasachance · 15/01/2012 23:01

Best moments/general brilliance:

  • Moriarty in a baseball cap.
  • the whole gaslighting principle of making everyone think Sherlock is a bonkers fraud; a brilliant way to undermine everything that Sherlock is.
  • Sherlock-Moriarty teaparty!!
  • the entire time Sherlock and John were handcuffed together.
  • Mycroft either being triple bluff tricksy or going off piste slightly with his whole Hannibal Lecter style exchanging childhood stories about Sherlock for info on computer codes. When has that ever ended well for anyone?
  • the rooftop chat. All of it.

It's on iplayer . Am going to watch it again. Happy days.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 15/01/2012 23:01

Brilliant Grin but now wide awake instead of sleeping trying to figure out how he did that!

I'm hoping they film 3 at same time as 2 or something-there has to be a series next winter can't last until 2013 or 2014

FelicityElectricity · 15/01/2012 23:02

Loved it! Will have to watch it again. I wish they'd do a few more in a series

Greenknowe · 15/01/2012 23:03

Don't forget John Watson 'confirmed bachelor' Grin

IveGotTightsOlderThanYouLove · 15/01/2012 23:03

Martin Freeman was great, wasn't he? Really touching, yet funny, yet dashing - sigh.

I love all the references they slip in to Holmes and Watson being a couple and the way Watson reacts. "Confirmed batchelor." :)

florenceuk · 15/01/2012 23:04

So we guess Sherlock jumped into truck, Molly helped him fake death. Did he deliberately goad Moristy into killing himself? I think so, DH not sure.

applecrumbleandcream · 15/01/2012 23:04

I'm planning tomorrow morning now .... drop dd off at school then back home with a cup of tea and Sherlock on again!!!

Grin Greenknowe

Hassled · 15/01/2012 23:04

I loved Moriarty's "I read it in the newspaper - so it must be true". Outstanding acting from everyone involved.

I am slightly gutted that we had the "he's alive!" reveal today, though. They should have made us sweat a bit - are they going to follow Conan Doyle, or aren't they?

spikemomma · 15/01/2012 23:06

He did greenknows and when he was talking to (the brilliant) moriaty I found it odd/out of character that he was listing to him his '3' friends as targets.

He had previously acknowledged to us that Molly was also in his friend gang, (therefore 4 friends); so was he checking may be that moriaty didn't have her on his hit list, so she was safe to help him get out of his fix...

Hmmmm intriguing....

IveGotTightsOlderThanYouLove · 15/01/2012 23:07

OK, so even if John believed that Sherlock invented Moriarty and was the real criminal, how does that explain last week's - the Baskervilles. Moriarty wasn't involved in that (or was he and I totally missed that bit?!)

IveGotTightsOlderThanYouLove · 15/01/2012 23:08

Doesn't the Moriarty actor remind you of Paul McCartney?

PreHeatedOven · 15/01/2012 23:09

I also need to rewatch this... I thought he said 'I need you' to Molly.
Who was the cameo?

CaveMum · 15/01/2012 23:10

No involvement from Moriarty with Baskerville. It was a mind control drug that made people suggestible.

There WAS a big dog, but it was owned by the restaurant owners who wanted to attract tourists.
