When did you lose your virginity?

My DD 14 is very sensible and whilst I'm not worried about her, a conversation we had this morning shocked me!
Talking about having sex and the age most people lose their virginities. We talk about 16 as age of consent in UK before she tells me that lots of girls in her year at school (Y9) have already had sex, some even doing it in Y8. DD said most of the girls were pleased to have 'got it out the way'! DD said she was not ready and that was fine too (phew!)
I lost my virginity at 16 and thought that was quite average, I had no regrets. It got me thinking though, what age did you 'lose it' and did you regret it being at that age?

16.5 the half was noted in my diary as important. We went out until my first year at uni & I left my home town for a new city. I dumped him PDQ after I started if I am honest, as I just wanted to play the field. He was gutted so maybe I was the dick in the end, but I fell out of love & our lives became too different

Don't regret it.

  1. My only regret really was that there was absolutely zero pleasure. We never deliberately met again afterwards. I don't think either of us had a clue tbh.
NormanChurches · 15/01/2022 00:04

At 16 with another girl.
23 with a guy.

JesusSufferingFuck22 · 15/01/2022 00:16

Peers were 12. I caved to peer pressure at 13...but in reality it wasn't actually proper sex. I properly lost my virginity at 15 with a friend. It was pretty crap. We had not clue what we were doing. We were fuck buddies for a long time. Good practice for both of us.

Nearly 17 and yea I regret to an extent as I don't think I was as ready as I thought I was at the time. And he turned into a bit of a psycho years later but that's a whole other story and nothing to do with me but I wish it wasn't him I'd lost it to. He was a nice guy at the time though

Echobelly · 15/01/2022 00:23

21, very glad. I waited until I was ready, it was with a friend I loved and cared about (as a friend, was never going anywhere else!) and while it wasn't mind-blowing sex or anything it was affectionate and emotionally safe. Much better than losing it to some teenage oik you think you're in love with - not that I was tempted, I found the whole idea gross until just before the time I did it!

Rubyyyy · 15/01/2022 00:32

14 with my first long term boyfriend who was lovely, I don’t regret loosing it to him at all.

FireDancer1 · 15/01/2022 00:43

14 he was 19 and hated every single second of it! Although he only lasted about 30 seconds

KohlaParasaurus · 15/01/2022 03:57

Nearly 22, with a long term boyfriend. First time for both of us, as far as I know. It was a bit odd, he wouldn't kiss me at all, ever. I regret having not had sex before then with a more experienced boy I'd had a short relationship with at 19, but at 19 I still expected to wait until I was married.

Imamumgetmeoutofhere · 15/01/2022 04:41

18 with my now DH. Dont regret it Smile

Nat6999 · 15/01/2022 04:54

18 & I wish I had waited.

ShippingNews · 15/01/2022 05:03

15 , I just wanted to find out what all the fuss was about. I "picked" a boy from church, and we did the deed that day. Neither of us had a clue as to what we were doing, and I certainly didn't enjoy it . No regrets though , it wasn't the worst way to lose it.

SheeceRearsmith · 15/01/2022 05:06

19 but it was all just a bit ‘meh’. I’d been mucking about with boys, doing everything but the full shebang since I was about 15/16. It was just time to have done with it. No regrets, felt better for it and then went on to have a wild old time of it!

JugglingJanuary · 15/01/2022 11:43

@SusannaRowan

22 and I married him, I was a late starter and not typical of my friendship group. I think most were around 16, a few had much older boyfriends, which others were envious of, as they had cars and would get picked up at school. Looking back, this was a bit grim.
No, it's not grim, just different to you.
Urher · 08/11/2022 15:00

13 no regrets 👍🏼

At 16 with another girl.
23 with a guy.

Me too .

blebbleb · 08/11/2022 16:14

15, almost 16. Should have waited really as I was immature.

LBFseBrom · 08/11/2022 16:18

Fifteen, a couple of days after my birthday actually.

I was glad to get it over and done with. For some reason I had been afraid I wouldn't be able to do it! It wasn't enjoyable but I was relieved to be 'normal'.

EtonMusk · 08/11/2022 16:18

Summer after my A-levels so 18, and desperate to get it out of the way before I went to Uni. I was the last of my close friends, and was dating the boy, but it was only a couple of months of romance, rather than anything long term. He was kind but not very bright and not a keeper.

emptythelitterbox · 08/11/2022 16:27

13 with a boy who said all the right things.

My 2nd DH lost his to me at 24.

CatherinedeBourgh · 08/11/2022 20:31

13, my choice. I enjoyed it and have no regrets. Was with a boyfriend I was with for 3 years or so.

ByTheGrace · 08/11/2022 23:47

21, he was 19. We're still together now 32yrs later. No regrets, I knew people were having sex from about the 5th form, but it was a girls school, so there wasn't the pressure of being around boys all the time. I felt I wanted to be in love with the first guy I had sex with and I was (and still am).
