When did you lose your virginity?

My DD 14 is very sensible and whilst I'm not worried about her, a conversation we had this morning shocked me!
Talking about having sex and the age most people lose their virginities. We talk about 16 as age of consent in UK before she tells me that lots of girls in her year at school (Y9) have already had sex, some even doing it in Y8. DD said most of the girls were pleased to have 'got it out the way'! DD said she was not ready and that was fine too (phew!)
I lost my virginity at 16 and thought that was quite average, I had no regrets. It got me thinking though, what age did you 'lose it' and did you regret it being at that age?

17, with a guy i never saw again (because I didn't want to). Deeply unexciting experience unfortunately, though I felt it was a win that nothing bad happened. I hope he's had more fun since - I have.

14, no regrets

16 and with my first love who I dated for another year, followed by a further 18 months a few years later.

It's been really interesting and thought provoking reading all of the posts as I came on to ask about this very topic as my DD in Yr10 (14/15) has a boyfriend of the same age and at same school, they've been dating for 5 months so still early days. But I know sex is on the horizon. The boyfriend is actually a really lovely young man, kind, attentive, caring, supportive (even stays to watch all her school matches), clever, polite. Perhaps with the right guy earlier isn't so bad.

I’m curious as to whether a first experience with a woman was better than being with a man?

A couple of weeks before my 18th, after a few failed attempts in-between where I wasn't ready (and thankfully with understanding guys), first time consensually I was 21.

ds(18) it was early this year with his same age girlfriend of several months who he is still with. So happy their firsts have been a positive experience for them.

Most of his friends were well over 16, there were a few in his year group a bit younger but, according to him, it wasn't prevalent at his school for 14 year olds, and mostly confined to a very small group of "cool" kids. At 14 ds was still hanging out with his mates playing footie and girls were still annoying!

My niece(now 29) was 14, went out with the toe rag for 1 year and had a termination at 15. The guy now has 9 😲 kids dotted around.

13, I suppose I was young but I was in a committed relationship (1 year at the time and 6 years in total) and I’d rather that than one of my close friends who was 17 and the guy dumped her immediately afterwards.
