I suppose it's fine to post drunk on the alcohol support threads but coming on an addiction support thread slightly high is not allowed?

We do joke about drugs but we all joined the thread with the aim to cut down or kick the gear. I'm quite peeved.
We'll have to think of a very boring title next time

I'm quite annoyed. Serial relapsed after 6 months clean and confesses on here and they decide it's not appropriate for this section and delete her thread! ffs

It's worth a try Ponz. I think we had an interesting thread title and people probably clicked on it when it was in Active threads and were horrified at the content and reported us.

It just confirms what I think already; most people think drug users are scum.

I suppose it's one thing to say oops I went overboard but another to go into detail too much. I completely forget that these threads can be read by thousands, I just think it's us lot!

The thing is, a thread only gets looked at if lots of people report it so we must have had posters reading and hitting report. Not sure why but I don't think they realised this was an ongoing support thread and just took the few comments on our new thread out of context..?

I guess we're ok to continue a new support thread. Obviously we're not allowed to find any humour in addiction and must be serious at all times.
Hope lovely Serial isn't banned. That would be completely unfair.

We could move to OTBT (off the beaten track, in Other ). I believe it doesn't show in active or searches - but that does mean no one new joining. We could message those who have posted here previously. It's there for precisely this kind of thing I think.

It's a shame we have to hide though. I'd hate for someone to be looking for support in addictions and miss our lovely thread. It's helped me a lot and that's where I stumbled on it.

I know lost, me too. But also we could invite people posting in addiction threads. This happened to me on an entirely different but equally contentious subject.

I messaged MNHQ asking if we could have some more feedback as to what they are objecting to so we can avoid this happening again. Hope we get a reply!

Obviously none of us are promoting drug abuse, it just lightens the load to joke about it sometimes. We're all battling with our addictions here and trying to help each other.

I think they have to avoid things like that getting in the daily fail so I do sort of understand from that angle...

I admit, we should rein in our drug references sometimes on here. It's really just making light of a serious problem,. We're not really going to Columbia. more's the pity.

I think also if you only read that new thread in isolation it looked like we were saying drugs are great. Which we are. Or we wouldn't have got addicted to them. But we also know that sobriety is better in the long run, which is why we are supporting each other to achieve it.

I've just had a massive panic that mumsnet may have some obligation to pass on our details to police if someone complains and that in my case I've outed my hiding place!!!

Please reassure me.

I just had a quick Google and overall opinion seems to be that you have nothing to worry about Ponz.
"In the UK, police won't go through someone's messages unless they suspect this person is a dealer, or there is a high quantity of seized product" That was from the Drugs Forum; drug and addiction help website.

Police won't launch an investigation to chase a small possession charge.

We'll start a new thread later. I think we've just had our knuckles rapped for getting a bit too enthusiastic so will tone it down a bit moving forward. Didn't hear back yet from MNHQ but I'm sure it'll be fine.

Serial hope you're ok? This is the worst time to stop a support thread; when one of our surfers has just relapsed and might be a bit vulnerable.

Ooh, just received a message from HQ. They said of course we're fine to continue our thread in Addiction Support and no offence has been caused by our references to cocaine, or our use of humour.

They said however, we must be careful to not extol the virtues of cocaine to any readers who may be vulnerable, which I agree is a fair point. Our most recent thread did start on rather a high note! Although I must say that Serial has led by example on all our other threads and been brilliant in her help and support, so no judgement here.

I'll try to start a new thread when I'm home later unless anyone of you lovelies would like to start one? I'm useless at links!
