...notyummy marks her place....

dexter73 · 01/04/2010 14:49

You ought to enter a poetry competition!

Fel1x · 01/04/2010 14:54

Was just about to post about hana's new dress on the old thread and it was full up!
Well done on starting new one in the nick of time.

Will say here -hana fab news on your dress waiting for you. Was obviously meant to be!
Will you do a pic so we can see?

I have had my haircut this afternoon, so feel much more stylish now! I popped into asda on the way back to get a sandwich and came out with this dress too. It looks nicer in RL and I thought a bit of a bargain.

Fleecy · 01/04/2010 14:59

Fel1x - I am a sucker for dresses with pockets. Even though I think I might pose a little and go pigeon-toed when stuffing my hands in them!

notyummy - you should be done for false advertising. Yummy you most certainly are!

Well I have had my third New Look order in the last few weeks and I am about to open it. I will be back with details shortly...

By the way, any New Look fans (Tracey!) you can get 20% off online next weekend. Will post the code nearer the time. If I like the stuff today, I may re-buy it at 20% off and return this parcel!

CHOOGIRL · 01/04/2010 15:06

Great title Cake

Working from home today with a bit of a hangover. Too much of the bubbly stuff last night.

Hasbeens are fantastic. I'm 39.5 and sized up to 40. They fit like a glove. Can't wait for the sun now.

MJ Dress has just been delivered but will wait until later to try on.

notyummy · 01/04/2010 15:09

Looks like it would work with leggings well until the weather warms up Fel1x

My new purchases haven't arrived yet - however - can we brnach out briefly to skin products.

Boots are running a buy two get one free deal across pretty much all their ranges - including the pricey ones they don't usually include in this kind of promo! I purchased this and - I think it works! Mainly on my forehead wrinkles that have vexed me for some time and caused me to play with the idea of a fringe (thats a whole new thread - for some reason I am terrified of having a fringe cut into my hair in case it all goes wrong!)

Just thought I would share!

Fleecy · 01/04/2010 15:10

Forgot to say, my sympathies for the other night's sartorial dilemma, LTEC. I have just experienced my first parent-related clothing crisis and it sucks!

Got back from the gym at 11 this morning, only to remember that I had to be at DDs playschool at 11.30 to see the children's Easter hat parade and eat Easter cakes.

What to wear? I couldn't wear super heels as I had to walk, had sweaty gym hair so had to wear it up, didn't want to look too scruffy, too smart, too fashiony or too frumpy. It's a minefield isn't it - I didn't realise!

Settled on dark skinnies, raspberry vest, pale grey boyfriend cardi, pink and grey scarf, heeled mustard Mary-Janes, Somerset tote in Oak and cream pea coat. Felt very skinny and spring-like but fairly classic still. Hope I got it right!

notyummy · 01/04/2010 15:14

Loving the mj dress choogirl.

What do people think of these?

Are they just a cheap and nasty version of hasbeens or will they cut it? I have issues with shoes as I am tall and DH grumbles if I buy high heels as he is the same height as me before heel. I though I might get away with these because they have a 2" heel.

notyummy · 01/04/2010 15:16

Fleecy - dry shampoo; the answer to many of these style crises!

Your outfit sound fab.

OllieWollieWoo · 01/04/2010 15:24

Good title LTEC! I sat there for ages trying to think of one but couldnt think of anything remotely suitable or amusing!

Really pleased for you Hanaflower - it was obviously meant to be re it fitting so well. How are you going to accesorise or does the dress speak for itself?

Had our expat Mums group High tea this morning. Was lovely. Room looked fab - white tablecloths, silver candlelabras, lots of white tulips everywhere and each place setting had a small pale turquoise gift box a la Tiffanys with a ribbon bracelet in it oh yes and posh tiered cake stands brimming with cakes. I scoffed 3 scones, 3 cupcakes and a few strawberries dipped in chocolate - then felt a bit sick! Lots of gorgeous LBD's and heels too! So nice to do something completely different like that once in a while!

Not much for the rest of the WE - garden needs a good tidy and will take Dss to a pirate restaurant that has a play area for the kids - not been before but friends say its nice......! Will do an egg hunt at some point and due to meet up with friends who have just moved back here from NYC (and dying to see her wardrobe after 4 years of living there!!!!)

bunjies · 01/04/2010 15:25

Damn you Cake, I've been trying to think of something witty and amusing all day and by jove you've been and done it!

Fleecy - your easter show watching outfit sounds lovely.

Notyummy - I'm not sure about those shoes myself. They look at tad too clunky. Something about the size of the straps and the fact they're the same colour as the heel. The hasbeens seem lighter somehow if that makes sense.

traceybath · 01/04/2010 15:25

Love the asda dress! Am taking DS1 to see 'how to train a dragon' on saturday which is near an Asda so may pop in.

Choo - love that MJ dress - hope it looks good on.

Fleecy - I'm a dress up type of mum even on the school run. Cream pea coat sounds lovely!

MM if you're reading - hope you're doing OK and I was in next earlier buying DS1 a straw trilby - he's such a fashionista and saw your jersey blazer and thought it looked lovely.

I made one small purchase of a bright blue striped breton long top which will look good with white skinnies and hasbeens hopefully.

However - close fitting nature of top made it clear I need to go and get measured for some new decent bras.

Right - off to make hot cross buns.

Notyummy - I ordered those in navy and didn't like but do like the tan colour. Worth a try I'd have thought.

notyummy · 01/04/2010 15:34

tracey we are taking dd (3.7) to How to train your Dragon' too on Monday. Let me know if it is good - or any particularly scary bits I will need to pre-warn her about!

CHOOGIRL · 01/04/2010 15:40

Thanks notyummy but can't take credit for mj dress. Our leader got it last year and I've been waiting for it to come back in my size.

Fel1x · 01/04/2010 16:08

Fleecy - your outfit sounds fab and especially so considering it was a last minute thrown together one! def more stylish than me!

notyummy - i like those shoes (not as much as i like hasbeens but i do like them)
worth a try on definitely!

OWW - love the sound of your high tea. What did you wear???

LetThemEatCake · 01/04/2010 16:25

choo - report back on the MJ!! I'm actually having a bit of a dilemma about mine. Having bought it while pg and not able to try on, I now find it is too big for me. Tags are still on - should I sell? but have been dying to wear it for so long... what to do?

yummy - I saw those shoes in rl on the weekend and they do look very cheap and kind of plasticky if that makes sense?

fleecy you must have looked great. I was massively overdressed he other night, believe it or not, but still felt good in amongst the jeans and jumpers.

OWW what fun!!! sounds gorgeous (and very jealous of your scones & cakes)

I left the 2 ds with dh this morning to take dd to nursery and on the way back got stuck in traffic and stopped off to buy milk - read: popped into a boutique to do some dress-up. Tried to 2 VWA pieces - dress would drive me mad, too much going on but this top made me look amazing (that and the fairground mirror) - have never understood the fuss over VWA but might be coming to see the point. Also tried on fab bright blue maxi that made my skin look so brown but had a weird keyhole feature on the bust - great for hols, not so great for the local sandpit

We're off at crack of dawn sat morning, no internet for a week ... would love to be planning holiday capsule wardrobe but it's looking like it might be a North Face kinda week ....

Fleecy · 01/04/2010 16:28

OWW - that sounds so much fun, and so glamorous. Food and dressing up plus lovely surroundings - what's not to like?

I like the TS shoes more than the Hasbeens (sorry Hasbeen wearers) but may well be the only one of that opinion here!

notyummy - I would be lost without dry shampoo. I see there's a thread on it here on MN. I thought it was a bit of an old lady thing so it's nice to know lots of others rely on it too. I don't mind washing my hair, it's just so fine I have to blow dry it to get any body in it whatsoever and frankly, I can rarely be bothered!

Where is hana with her pics? I know she hasn't actually agreed to pics but I want to see the lovely dress

choo - MJ dress is gorgeous

What's wrong with Fly's?

bunjies · 01/04/2010 17:00

Ooh am intrigued Cake. Also unfeasibly pleased that I knew what you meant by VWA before viewing the link. My education is complete Eliza Doolittle style .

Talking of brown skin, what heritage do you all have? I am mixed race (half Polish, half Indian). Unfortunately for me this has translated into fine hair and not the thick and lustrous locks usually found on asian women and a sallow, yellowy skin colour during the winter months. It's one of the reasons I love summer as my skin takes on a much more attractive pallor.

Fleecy · 01/04/2010 17:04

Bunjies - you've got gorgeous colouring! I am

LTEC you'll be missed as you have a great talent for finding things both on a higher and a lower budget!

Fleecy · 01/04/2010 17:05

Fimbow - I'm a fussy cow, not a fan of Flys or Hasbeens!

Fimbow · 01/04/2010 17:12

Some Fly's are a bit fuddy duddy looking but I like the yazz and have them in red patent.

dexter73 · 01/04/2010 17:15

LTEC - could you get your MJ dress altered to fit you? Maybe your drycleaners would know of someone.

Fleecy · 01/04/2010 17:17

Red patent sounds good - am not generally a fan of black shoes but love colour, especially patent.
