Hello all you wise and wonderful spenders. Is this the new S and B all in one thread?

Would love to stop but think you may be too fast moving

Will linger and lurk occasionally, admiring your purchases and stealing your ideas

LetThemEatCake · 02/04/2010 09:36

spider tis indeed a bargain but am of the opinion that banded hems are disastrous for hips. Especially mine!!

I'm here I have been awol as desperately trying to not shop and save up for hols. Fell off the wagon in spectacular, albeit ebay style, on a super chic charcoal Sonia Rykiel jacket and Marni print top!

Have a fab holiday Cakey

Barbabelle · 02/04/2010 10:04

Popping in to say thank you LTEC for all the Urban Outfitter recommendations. Order arrived last week and I love everything - nude cowl neck tee, navy combats, and my favourite, the horse tee. Having a horrible hectic time at the moment and it's really cheered me up to have some nice little bits to feel pretty in.

bunjies · 02/04/2010 10:12

Morning all.

Hells - hope you manage to get some answers without having to wait 6 weeks. You know you mustn't google your symptoms so I won't tell you not to. I know you will though!

Cake - have a wonderful few days. Hope the weather holds out for you.

Thanks for all the heritage responses. You all sound gorgeous . Esher, it sounds like we have similar winter skin ishoos, such a pain. I have even contemplated using tinted moisturiser on my face.

As someone who has a (5 year and counting) post baby belly I have a problem with dresses linked to by MoneySpider, despite appearances suggesting they would make a good cover up type of affair. I have personally found they don't really conceal the tummy at all but rather rest against it fetchingly thus highlighting it even more, making me appear pregnant. In fact when I was pregnant if I wore billowy smock type outfits I looked awful but if I wore jeans and a fitted top then I looked much better. I reckon the same applies for a fat tum too. What I'm trying to say is I think a dress like that would actually work better on someone with no curves. Does that make sense?

[Feel free to ignore everything I just said.]

LetThemEatCake · 02/04/2010 10:16

OH, am so pleased to see you Verity - have missed you. Glad you've bought some lovely things - can you link?

And very glad indeed that you love your UO order Barb - hope things get better soon and am happy that you have some nice things to make you feel chipper in the meantime. I love love love that horse print tee (note to self - must wash & dry today so can take on hols)

Three links from me:

this is the maxi I tried on in RL yest. Was £70 in the store. Amazing colour on my skin (am olive) but that bust detail is a bit much for London days, do you think?

I just somehow, whilst having my coffee and supervising Fuzzy Felts, bought this for £50. Avid or wise? Both?

and am pondering this but it's too 'smart' for me isn't it?

OP posts:
traceybath · 02/04/2010 10:22

Like the maxi but yes - do see what you mean about the keyhole detail - on the upside would make you very popular at the park with the dads .

I also like the VB jacket but would lose the rabbit trim. The pondering jacket is nice too and would look good with skinnies/dressed down I think.

Did you read that Natalie Massanet has sold NAP for £50m - lordy! I wonder what'll happen to it now in terms of product/service etc.

MarshaBrady · 02/04/2010 10:27

Happy Easter all you gorgeous people. Am knee high in thank you card drawing and writing (well, being very interested ds is doing them) and going to get hair high-lighted today, hopefully I can communicate what I want (I am usually quite vague which I'm sure they love). But wanted to say have great time in Cornwall ltec and will be back later.

LetThemEatCake · 02/04/2010 10:34

talk to me about the rabbit trim tracey - why would you lose it?

I know, I know - Natalie M!! and to think she started out as a stylist!!!

happy easter Marsha - have a lovely hair appt!! hope you feel fab afterwards

traceybath · 02/04/2010 10:35

Well I'm always a bit funny about fur and more to the point would be scared about someone chucking red paint over me and new jacket a la Anna Wintour .

notyummy · 02/04/2010 10:43

ltec love the keyhole maxi (am obviously a loose woman!) but can see it could attract the wrong sort of attention if not in Ibiza!

Not sure about either of the jackets you linked to tbh. I prefer the second of the two because it could do work meetings as well as over jeans. The cream one I just see covered in sticky hand prints within seconds - but that could be because I am a bit of a slob.....

LetThemEatCake · 02/04/2010 10:44

LOL good point. It's quite subtle though, the fur, isn't it?

I have a rabbit fur jacket

My attitude used to be, if I'll eat it, I'll wear it. (absolutely love/d rabbit)

Now that I'm veggie it's a bit trickier.

what of the white dress?

Oops..have just ordered a 'loose woman' maxi..split And keyhole and no hope of wearing a bra...and i am supposed to be bfing..so really of no use at all, other than i love it and fancy a treat..

maxi link theoutnet.com/product/33033

and big thanks to the kind S and Ber who provided the discount code

bodsmum · 02/04/2010 11:23

dolce..are you a west london lady?as drove by smoothie store in fulham with same name as your posting name..also i have only 2 dds..2nd one has just arrived but i am liking the idea of 3dcs..i am so impressed by you guys though as so many of you seem to have tiny age gaps..mine are 3 years apart!

tracey you always make me laugh with your muttonous comments..i always think of you as a teeny tiny pretty sophisticated thing and anyway i am so hooked on leopardskin my dh saw sunset boulevard yesterday and told me i am heading to be like norma the fading actress in my old age..i.e lots of animal print and fur and diamonds, hopefully!

cakey what a silly mare that woman was...enjoy cornwall and your girl's night.

fleecy..i'm loving all the outfits you are wearing lately..sound anything but fleecy!

VerityBrulee · 02/04/2010 11:34

This is the jacket. The arms are v skinny, will have to do some toning exercises! I gave up wheat about 4 weeks ago as it was giving me terrible stomach pains, and I can now fit into my skinniest peg legs, yay! So wearing jacket with these and a lovely stipey long sleeve tee I got from etsy. I linked to it a while back and it's gorgeous, slilky fabric and beautifully finished. I never thought of buying clothes form etsy, but it's nice to support small scale designers and at least you won't run into someone else in your outfit in the local park! Might be a place to look for your maxi LTEC BTW, like the cream jacket, but the other looks a bit officey to me.

Tracey I loved that white JC dress, did you get it? Hope you are getting a bit more sleep with Bea these days, it's a killer when they don't sleep through.

On the up side I have to agree that although the baby/toddler years are tough, it will get so much easier soon. DS1 will be 12 on monday, and he's so grown up and independant, ds2 will be 10 in May and dd was 6 last week (I have a direct debit to Hamleys at the moment, LOL). They are all fab at amusing themselves, dd currently obsessed with Sylvanian Families, she would play with them for hours I feel under way less pressure and I just have more head space these days than when the were all little and I was constantly exhausted and frazzled. Happy Days

BTW, I think that woman the other day is probably very unhappy and jealous LTEC no excuse to take it out on you though. I admire you for challanging her on it, I do this more now when someone is rude to me, much more empowering than just seething inwardly as I used to do!

Hells, I hope you are not in pain, be kind to yourself.

It is like January here, freezing, wet and windy. That reminds me, thanks to Blossoming (apols if it wans't you!) for the link to the stadium squall, I got a half price red one, and will now sell my v uncomfortable Boden cloudspotter, which makes me feel I've been wrapped up in oilcloth, urgh.

Got to take DS1 to a party, will be back to catch up on links later. my period of shopping abstainance seems to be well and truly over!

VerityBrulee · 02/04/2010 11:36

Fleecy meant to say your outfit sounds amazing

monkeysmama · 02/04/2010 11:39

Good morning and Buona Pasqua

Had a really tough week or two but have managed to find you all again . Three funerals in 8 days including a Muslim funeral which was a satorial challenge.

Tracey thanks for the nice comments about the jacket. I've not had the opportunity to wear it but I keep looking at it and I like it. I remember you saying you'd seen someone in it with white jeans. I am still not sure what I'll wear mine with but it might have a trip out to a museum this afternoon with some skinny jeans (and me of course).

I'm a bit funny about real fur too. All my Italian mates have fur coats but they make me feel a bit sick. I think it is the idea that something living is bred solely for being skinned, though not sure why that is much different than being bred to be eaten.

Cakey hope you have a great time in Cornwall.

Hello to everyone else and thank you for all the lovely messages.

Have a Good Friday .

Wow hanaflower - thats an amazing dress! You lucky thing finding that! Love the detail/style and colour. Will look fab - esp with those great shoes (where are they from???)

I'm not all that keen on hats but thats cos they really dont suit me - have you thought about one of those fancy bits that go on a headband - half hat/half fascinator. That dress is so stunnning I don't think you should detract from it M&S have several here (and a hat a similar colour to your dress I think?) Page 1&showAll=&rh=n:53465031&isBrowse=1&page=1 here What do the other W&A ladies think???

Fleecy · 02/04/2010 13:04

hana that is truly beautiful - I love it. You'll look amazing! I agree with OWW that headgear should be very simple so as not to detract from the dress. No idea where to look though - not much help, sorry!

verity have you found it difficult to go wheat-free? Is there anything you particularly miss or have you found plenty of available alternatives?

mm nice to see you back again. I was wondering how you were getting on and I'm to hear you've had a horrid time lately.

traceybath · 02/04/2010 13:06

Hana - that dress is gorgeous. Agree with Ollie about hats, how about something like this?. Oh and re. the shoes you could some of those scholl gel inserts for your shoes - party feet or something.

MM - you poor thing - sounds like you've had a truly dreadful couple of weeks.

VB - love that jacket and well done on your weight loss. I'm feeling fat today - and its so grey and rainy here - you're right it is like january.

traceybath · 02/04/2010 13:08

Bods - that dress is fab!

I haven't ordered the JC one as would need to wear a strapless bra and that just puts me off a little bit.

May have to venture to real shops in a couple of weeks and see if I can find anything. I also have a yen for a red dress.

hellsbelles · 02/04/2010 13:24

Hello all and happy easter weekend. Hope you are enjoying the...rain?! We are renting a place for the weekend in East Sussex which is lovely but we are seeing rather to much of teh walls.

MM - so so sorry you have a horrible time. I hope you are starting to feel some light through the clouds?

Cakey - if you haven't gone already - have a wonderful time.

Tracey - that dress was so pretty...is there no way you could wear a thin strapped white bra with it?

Hana - perfection! I personally wouldn't even bother with a hat....you will look gorgeous enough without.

My fatface dress arrived. I was imagining it as a summer dress but it is most certainly a beach one (I think one of our A&W ladies actually said that) on me anyway. The cotton is very thin and it's short on me.

Will catch up properly later

LetThemEatCake · 02/04/2010 13:25

feeding the baby and couldn't help but check in - mm am so very sorry that you've had such an emotionally exhausting few weeks; hope easter will truly prove to be time of renewal for you.

VW well done on going wheat-free, it makes a world of difference doesn't it, both to weight and energy levels. I've been wheat-free for 2 years now - fleecy it is surprisingly easy, Sainsburys do a good free-from selection although I'd skip the bread altogether in favour of ricecakes, oatcakes or Ryvita.

on a different note ...
