sorry couldn't help myself

FrancesFarmer - that dress is lovely but annoying that its polyester. There seems to be a lot of polyester this year!

I love the sandals and have very similar pair from Jones from last summer (which I have worn loads) so can't justify more spending (how wise I am!)

I don't think Alexa Chung is stylish, either. Her look seems kind of cliched, and all about her skinny boy legs! (bitchy, jealous emoticon!!)

LTEC - Nice thread name (although am now ashamed to have flys!!) It was a pretty strange comment at playgroup but well done for your reply (at the time too- thats something I never manage). Have a lovely holiday!

Monkeysmama - I hope you are doing OK and coming back sometime soon. I love your style!

Cake- I love that top . Have you picked a dress yet?

LetThemEatCake · 01/04/2010 21:12

Oh I can't wait to see hana! so pleased it was still there for you. What's become of the Layla?

I am really missing mm - hope you come back soon

whelk I am tempted to pack this one even though it is so utterly inappropriate ... what do you think?? Think - Cornwall, cold, one or two mid-range bars at our disposal ...

OP posts:
hellsbelles · 01/04/2010 21:20

hello all,

LTEC - what are we going to do without you. But yes - Tracey or Fleecy please deputise.

LTEC - people do say stupid stupid things. She's obviously a stress bucket. And she probably thought she was being funny (but was patently not). Try and let it wash over you.

My look - young on the outside but thanks to my MRI scan I have discovered I'm about 103 on the inside. Narrowing and bulging spinal discs?! Apparently the bulging is relatively common but the narrowing is usually in much older people. So I'm feeling a bit low. And compounded by the fact the specialist rang to tell me while at work (so I couldn't really ask many questions) and is now off for 6 weeks (6 weeks for me to google about my degnerating body). I have to go for physio which is fine but may have to have injections. Urghh. I know if I could talk to him face to face he'd be able to reassure me but I hate the fact I have an old persons back (stupid self pitying cow that I am).

On a perkier note! DH keeps asking what I want for my birthday (in May). I said leather jacket please and he actually said 'well you'll probably get one next week' (I'm hoping to get a rare shopping trip) 'so think of something else'. So I will think of something else

Hana so glad you got that dress. Can we have pics?

Everyone else. I have been clicking on the links my mind is swimming with all the gorgeousness....also thrilled that the Hasbeens are proving so popular (can I claim the title of first hasbeen owner on this thread? Can I??)

Whelk · 01/04/2010 21:33

I really really like that dress LTEC.
Hells. I'm sorry to hear about your back. Could you ring the specialist back to discuss it?

Fleecy · 01/04/2010 21:54

hells is there another member of the specialist's team who would be available for questions? Presumably he doesn't work alone?

Have you spotted a leather jacket yet?

LTEC have a wonderful time! It'll take you another week to catch up when you get back

hana look forward to the photos. Hope your solo weekend isn't too onerous.

I'm off out tomorrow night and very much looking forward to it. Just a few bars with DH and some friends, followed by a small local club. Am wearing rats, black silk racer-back tank, skyscraper heels, big hair, smoky eyes and lots of jewellery. Was going to wear a short floral dress and ankle cowboy boots and tanned my legs especially - but the weather's not co-operating!

Whelk · 01/04/2010 21:57

Hells- sorry I didn't see that specialist is away for 6 weeks. Duh! I second Fleecy.

hellsbelles · 01/04/2010 21:58

thanks Whelk and fleecy - next week I probably will try and get some feedback from another member of the team.

Fleecy - WOW! Bet you look amazing.

I did see a Rik Owens jacket that I liked but I'm going to check out some others as well.

eshermummy · 01/04/2010 22:13

Has Hana posted pic s of this dress yet - this is the one being made to measure no? Not sure if I have got all or not...

Fleecy - I agree your outfit sounds fab. Love the idea of a cream peacoat - v Park Ave Princess (that is a compliment btw)

Bunjies - at risk of outing myself I am half Spanish, half English. Not that you would really know it to look at me (light brown hair but hi-lighted, blue/green eyes). I do have skin that tans very easily (like now ) but mostly means I look half-dead as I tend to look a lovely combo of sallow-pasty in the UK climate.

LTEC - that VWA top doesn't scream anything special to me but I'm willing to believe it has transformative properties when worn by your good self . However, it is a bit spenny for what it is and my first thoughts on seeing it were that I was sure I had seen something similar (and cheaper) somewhere else but despite searching for a while I don't seem to be able to locate it.

However

I refer you to the wonky which I linked to a few months back

vaguely reminiscent

On a different tack, I thought this one was reminiscent of the Alice Temperley stripey number and generally just quite nice really

Thought this might work with those leggings of mine that I was having trouble with

eshermummy · 01/04/2010 22:17

Hells - really sorry to hear about your back, hope you get some more answers and reassurance soon. Don't google in the meantime!!!

Fleecy - your outfit sounds beyond fantastic!!! I know you are going to tell me that you have had it for years but where is your silk tank from? Does it cover your butt or are you so gym-honed that you don't need to worry

Fleecy · 01/04/2010 22:28

Post links then hells!

I am going to pull out all the stops tomorrow as I'm only going out once more in April and that's for a meal with two good girlfriends. Lots of fun but not so much dressing up/hair and make-up play to be had!

It won't be long until our DCs are horribly embarrassed by us when we get dressed up to go out so might as well make the most of it!

LTEC - if you're still around, did you say you got a straw trilby from Primark? I am after one but not wanting to buy anything. That would hardly count though if it was super cheap?

I have kept these from my New Look order. Although they're not leather, they're so cheap and the slight 'v' shape at the front makes them more flattering than the adult leather ones at £60. Am also keeping this as a throw it on and go dress with glads, bangles and straw hat on a summery day.

Everything else is going back, which is a shame. I wanted this to wear over summery dresses but it made me look very brick shaped so back it goes...

LetThemEatCake · 01/04/2010 22:36

oh hells you poor thing. Hate not knowing all the answers when it comes to health but you must. not. google. Bless your dh, what a darling. Hope you're feeling chirpier very soon.

Thanks for the links esher. I'm all good though. Have convinced myself it was just a skinny mirror, rather than the top. As an aside - God I am so bored of dieting. But anyway, not willing to spend so much on such an item, or any item at the moment! (dh's b'day later this month)

yes fleecy straw trilby was primark .. £2.50 I think? esher do you still want the spare?

OP posts:
Fleecy · 01/04/2010 22:41

It is very old esher I'm sorry! Think it was Reiss and it does cover the bum but it's a slim shape, which I like because I feel like I'm in maternity clothes otherwise! Am lucky enough to have quite a small bum but I still think the ruching on the rats isn't entirely flattering over that part so I don't mind a bit of underbum but not the whole thing!

I love that Whistles Kimberly dress - I bet the slight ruching would flatter a little post-DC wobbly tum (not that you probably have one!) while nipping the waist in nicely. Gorgeous colour too. I can see that with the leggings. Are you going to roder it?

Fleecy · 01/04/2010 22:42

How is the dieting going LTEC? You must be nearly at your target weight now if not there already? Or have you lowered your target?

esher order, not roder. Obviously!

eshermummy · 01/04/2010 22:44

LTEC - you should send that trilby to Fleecy - it sounds as if she has the chutzpah to carry it off - am sure I will bottle it when it comes to school run time and it will languish unworn plus I only just bought myself a straw hat, albeit big floppy brimmed variety.

Fleecy · 01/04/2010 22:48

That's very kind esher but I think you should have it. If you know someone else might have had it you will feel guilty if you don't wear it, then you'll have to wear it Job done!

My closest girlfriend is over here next weekend (that's who I'm having dinner with, plus another very close friend) and we're off shopping. I have very little money to spend so think the Primark hat would give me a little treat for less than the cost of a sandwich. Can't be bad! My friend lives in Jersey so she gets limited shopping over there and likes to stock up when she's here.

Anyhoo, must go get my beauty sleep ready for tomorrow! Night all

eshermummy · 01/04/2010 22:49

Am missing Monkeysmama and Bunnymother, hope they come back soon.
Also not heard from Carciofi or Marsha recently - although half of West London is without phone/tinternet isn't it so maybe that's why noone is around???

Will miss you too next week Cakey, hope you have a lovely time.

yes, lots of missing ladies ... bunny where the bloody hell are ya??

verity too? georgina, carci... anyone else, please come back

LOL fleecy yes I lowered my target . I've always stopped at a certain weight in the past bc I've been wary of messing with my fertility but since I think we're stopping at 3 I figure I may as well give in to my scrawny fantasies

Thanks esher. Hope we get a sunny day or two but not holding my breath!!

take care all - happy easter!!

I love Corwall,LTEC
Just back from couple of days in London with DH and just 1 DD so great time!

Fleecy my DD bought those New Look boots in london!
I got a great linen waterfall/open cardigan in zara in soft grey, with short sleeves.
Saw some ruched vests in grey and white, but didn't have in medium

Tracey I checked out about 5 Gap stores for Navy patent ballet pumps that you mentioned ages ago,but no luck.
You would think I could find some, there is so much navy around this year!

traceybath · 02/04/2010 06:57

Morning All.

LTEC - have a fab time - hope the weather improves a bit though.

Esher - I ordered the whistles kimberley dress but sent it back. It is very clingy - would possibly work with leggings but on me was just a step too mutton. But I wanted to use it as a dress more than a tunic/top.

Georgi - sorry about the ballet pumps - did you see the tea dress I linked to earlier?

Its a rainy day here so we'll be doing yet more baking and off out with the dc's for dinner so probably just wagamamas.

Choo - glad MJ dress was a success.

Blimey they're advertising the outnet sale in grazia - I bet the site just grinds to a halt.

Has anyone read about the new range of Tom Ford lipsticks - I am very excited as love pretty much everything he does and love lipstick.

Fleecy - love those new look boots. Have a fab time tonight.

Hells - ouch regarding your back - are you getting plenty of calcium in your diet? My mil swears by sesame seeds for calcium . . .

Moneyspider · 02/04/2010 07:30

Morning all!

esher I like the whistles dress for with the leggings, but am complete sucker for a bargain What do you think?

notyummy · 02/04/2010 08:42

moneyspider that dress depends on your shape - I am a pear with a slim waist so I don't think it would work on me as it would hide my best features! Would be flattering on an apple or a post baby tummy though I think.
