Following on from here

Surely the sun will be out by the end of this thread?

I'm getting the Perse skirt and shoes on your recommendations. If I get a job I will invite you all out for lunch!

Went to see Spandau last night - I must have been the youngest person there by miles! Very good though. I've just got tickets for Norah Jones in June and Simply Red in December, I was so inspired.

monkeysmama · 11/03/2010 08:10

Choo Canary Wharf are the culprit store . I'll call them this morning and see if they've forgotten to let me know they have more in. I might pop down there anyway tbh - I will be disappointed if I can't get one.

Cakey like those shoes a lot and the hat.

Hana I quite like the leather jacket and bought a grey one while I was in Paris. I have worn it a few times and enjoy the idea of it but it's too cold really atm and I hope fear it will be too warm in summer. So I may get a few weeks out of it in spring . It feels more formal than a denim jacket which is good but I wouldn't want to sweat in it or throw it around in the park like I might in a denim jacket which can be washed iyswim. I don't drive though which does make a difference as I am hanging around waiting for public transport a lot and my driver friends seem to be rocking spring trends already in the warmth of their 4x4s.

So I took delivery of lots of things yesterday. This is divine. The photo isn't brilliant but it has quite subtle black and gold beading around the neck and a low back. I got it new with labels on for £9.99 (lable says £135) so I am happy with that and it will be okay if I only wear it a few times. I like wearing colour on holiday with a tan but often resent paying ££££ for things I wear a few times a year.

My asos super parcel arrived. Most goes back (apart from dp's pressies). This is a really strange colour in rl - it's like it has been left in the sun and it feels very polyestery and gave me a mini electric shock when I put it on . I won't link to all the things going back as linked to everything the other day. This tshirt is lovely and am going to order in white and black. This shirt stays too - replacing a DP one I wore to death. This stays too. Not my usual thing but I got it in a larger size so it is a little baggier and looks god over the Gap tshirt and jeans and covers the horrible muffin bits I am always aware of when I wear jeans. Gap chinos are going back because I have a pair from last year which are almost identical but with a little bit more stretch.

I now need:

a denim jacket - I lost out on the Current Eliott one by 50p because my iphone played up as I was last minute bidding and saw a vaguely similar one in M&S but I've decided I don't like it.

I need a few maxi dresses still. I might go for this but the way the model is standing irritates me because I can't see how the dress would fall on. I just think it might suit my life style better than something paler though I may also get this to add a touch of colour to my wardrobe.

I think this is ever so pretty and would like nice over jeans? And am ordering this too.

I also want some new lighter weight baggy jeans. This0 which I can roll up or not.

I'm another one looking for a new cozzie. I need something strapless which can work magic on my large chest.

Any thoughts on my haul?

Finally a question. I want to get dp some wellies for his birthday on Sunday. Dd's new favourite thing is jumping in puddles and he'd love something like that so he can join her. I have Hunters. Dd has Hello Kitties. Is it stupid to get him Hunters too? Will we be like Howard & Hilda? What can I get instead?

Wow. Mega post . Sorry.

bunnymother · 11/03/2010 08:25

MM - most of your links don't work for me, but perhaps it's just as I am on my iPhone.

DD seems to have turned the corner - no nasty nappies overnight. Have my fingers crossed!!

DolceeBanana · 11/03/2010 09:26

bunjie - like you just love buying things for the house...even though we are renting, the kids rooms look fab, and rest of house v comfortable...hust like really good quality things. We have Cologne and cotton nearby in Cheltenham where I love buying kids bedding from there, and White Company too! I am also a sucker for Ralph Lauren and Mulberry home and collect old french linens for chair covers etc...When we find our perfect rambling house I am determined to have a Plain English kitchen...shall have to curb the spending for a while then!!!

Love clothes, but maybe dare I say it, am even more swayed/excited by home wear!!! Trouble is I just want it all!!!

Esher - Barbours are great...they have some v stylish styles, the International slim fitted jacket is fab in chocolate or black - not home counties at all! I love walking about with kids and hate getting wet...hair frizz immediately! So, with you, you do have to remain stylishly dry!!

MM - Feel His n Hers Hunters a bit Harold and Hilda ish...What about Barbours for him!!!

traceybath · 11/03/2010 09:36

MM I have navy hunters and DH has green ones. To be honest we don't wear them together much and I just find them very comfortable.

OK - now I have only 4 dresses in my wardrobe. Wedding dress, a strapless sun dress, a black halter neck dress and a black french connection dress. Obviously can't wear wedding dress, strapless sun dress too casual, black halter neck looks like a rag according to DH and I need more support in boob dept (not as pert as I once was DH added helpfully) and french connection dress hangs off me. Aaagghh.

I don't suit dresses really as have no waist and am short. So was thinking of getting a pair of skinny trousers but can I find any - oh no.

Bonsoir · 11/03/2010 09:39

We go out as a family wearing our Hunters - DD and I both have silver ones and they look great when we wear them together! DP has navy and I also have a green pair, and DD has a pink pair, so whenever it rains we end up being a Hunter family!

I'd love to help you on the dress thing, tracey, but we are such different sizes/shapes that I am afraid I am totally clueless as to what might suit you.

DolceeBanana · 11/03/2010 09:48

Right Tracey, ASOS do have a good petite range of dresses...links too long to input imo...but try their website...They have a gorgeous shortish tulip skirted dress which looks v flattering, and cap sleeved below knee (a al VB- Victoria Beckham not Verity Brulee!)cleavge enhancing dress too - both black which I think fine for wedding evening do. Only problem, maybe is that they are not natural fibres, sorry, but shapes fab!

monkeysmama · 11/03/2010 10:03

Thanks for the Hunter feedback. Will have a look now at Barbours otherwise we will follow in Bonsoir's footsteps and be a Hunter couple .

Tracey I have had a look at some evening wedding outfits I'd love to be able to wear but am too big.

I love this atm and think it'd look great for an evening wedding reception. Gold heels, plain clutch?

This is beautiful but maybe too drapey.

I've had this on my wish list for ages.

This dress also comes in orange which looks very nice. I like this from TB too.

I realise I have just linked to a number of dresses I would like to be small enough to wear. I know nothing about dressing a petite frame.

Romanarama · 11/03/2010 10:18

That Armand Basi dress is beautiful MM.

I have put these Louboutins in my basket. So chic, I love them.

PS You will look like a ridiculous catalogue photo all in your Hunters, but who cares? We do it!! You can also get all different colour fleecy welly liners to take the concept even further

notyummy · 11/03/2010 11:01

Morning all

I linked further down the thread to this

skirt

that I had ordered. It arrived yesterday and I am currently wearing it. It is much nicer than in the photo - good heavy material so hangs well, and nicely lined. The whole Fuse By Preen collection at Very is currently discounted and there are a couple of really nice things:

trousers

shirt

GeorginaWorsley · 11/03/2010 11:42

Just got this and is really nice shape and colours...

bunnymother · 11/03/2010 11:42

MM - looked at your dresses, and really like the TB striped one. Re the green TB dress, seems even the model struggles to look slim in it - it clings to her stomach.

Notyummy - well done on the skirt purchase. The trousers and shirt are nice, but not great for me (trousers have ankle zips and shirt is voluminous - makes me look even more Humpty-ish).

notyummy · 11/03/2010 11:45

Yes bunny - probably not for everyone! I am tall and flatchested (although pear shaped with relatively big bottom.) Skirt is good on me - and although I like the trousers and shirt, the colour of the shjirt is wrong for me (would lovely on someone dark and exotic though.)

traceybath · 11/03/2010 13:57

Thanks for links!

I'm such a numpty - forgot the dress I got in Zara a couple of weeks ago. I just tried it on (its sort of a khaki/creamy pattern) with my purple patent peep toe shoes and looks good.

So all I need is a clutch bag and I saw some nice ones in jigsaw.

Oh and showed my sister the otelo heels and she laughed and said they looked like something her 70 year old mil would wear - it has I'm afraid put me off slightly.

Notyummy - love the skirt.

monkeysmama · 11/03/2010 14:58

Sign up here and there is all kinds of money off different things including 20% off Cocosa which I think some of you were using for jeans.

monkeysmama · 11/03/2010 15:04

And off Heidi Klein....

monkeysmama · 11/03/2010 17:32

We are going to a new branch of one of our favourite UK hotels in Poole this weekend & I'm so excited I feel like a child before Christmas. It's ages since just us 3 went away without going to see friends or family. So I've been shopping again . I'll share it with you all once it arrives tomorrow if it fits.

traceybath · 11/03/2010 17:42

Ooh MM - how lovely - are you going for one night or two?

Go on - what have you ordered? I could do with some vicarious shopping although have been promised some time off on saturday so will go into bath for a potter around with just DD.

monkeysmama · 11/03/2010 17:52

Going for two nights though dp doesn't know that yet. He thinks we are coming home on Sunday (his b'day) but I spoke to his secretary and got her to book him out Monday so we can have a nice day. Dd is coming too but we are pretty relaxed about letting her sleep in pram etc as long as she's happy.

I am on iPhone so can't link properly but bought a Boss woman black sparkly dress, some new undies, the Hunters, some new jeans and three tops from
asos and two cardigans.

LetThemEatCake · 11/03/2010 18:17

what a lovely Mother's Day treat for you and birthday treat for him MM - well deserved, too!!

Gap chinos arrived and are going back ... oh dear this casual, preppy look is definitely not for me. What was I thinking??!!
They remind me of the combat trousers I wore rolled up at Glastonbury circa 2000 - only not as cool

On the plus side, this means that I don't really need a pair of brown day heels ... although I do quite like these.

Red KG espadrilles are also going back but will take them to the Canary Wharf store on Sat and have a mooch about/ lunch out as my Mother's day treat, as we are having people over on the day itself.

Anyone got any good pressies in store for them this Sunday?

Still on the hunt for a maxi, and am going to purchase the Sweaty Betty hat as it will look tres cool with my OP sunnies, AV strapless maxi and Antil Batik flats. I think.

glad wedding outfits are getting sorted tracey and hana!!

going back to click on links later.

traceybath · 11/03/2010 18:51

MM - sounds a good selection

After DH's comments about my lack of pertness in the boob department am going to buy some new underwear - will go to local shop where they're very good at measuring.

Oh and am returning that hobbs nw3 jacket I bought a couple of weeks ago - its just not right - too boxy.

Bonsoir - thanks for rug link - will have a look.

monkeysmama · 11/03/2010 18:57

My mum has always been of the "celebrate me every day of the year" school of thought but I LOVE being able to celebrate Mothers' Day . I'm actually cooking a seafood risotto now at my mum's to celebrate & then giving her some pressies including the Brora cashmere wrist warmers.

I wasn't at all keen on those Gap trousers. I think I like idea of a smart casual look but the preppy thing is too young for me. I rarely say that but my 21 yo sister pulls it off - I couldn't and don't want to really. Harems I love though and am on the look out for a few more pairs.

I am so excited about spring. Are we going to organise a meet beforewe lose our leader? We could have a lovely picnic in my neck of the woods?

Fleecy · 11/03/2010 19:00

Oh dear, just me liking the chinos then on this thread. I love 'em - can't wait for the weather to buck up a bit so I can wear them. Preppy suits me though.

tracey I love getting new underwear. I was secretly hoping that after the DS my boobs would end up a different size to pre-DC so I'd just have to get all new undies but no luck.

I don't expect any presents on Sunday. We don't even do Christmas presents for each other generally!

traceybath · 11/03/2010 19:14

Fleecy - no christmas presents! Lordy the one year we did token gifts wasn't a success - a candle from waitrose (sickly cranberry) did not fill me with festive cheer. The following year I had a watch to compensate .

Would be lovely to meet you all when the weather warms up a bit - LTEC when do you go back to Australia?

RageAgainstTheWashingMachine · 11/03/2010 19:15

Hi All,

Another lurker here outing myself (am sure this thread has a secret cult following). Bought the rats (went back, maybe after I have lost at least a stone!), the swan tee (love it) a grey leather jacket a keeper, Grey Cashmere Wrap Cardigan - another that went back as cut very high at the back. Seafolly Maxi Dress in black, but might also keep the grey - flattering for those large of nork but sizes come up BIG. Plus far too many other purchases to mention!

Also bought the Layla in Black which is tres flattering. On that note, some advice please fashion gurus on styling it (to wear out for dinner). I have just bought some lovely nude very soft leather very high shoes with a cork heel, stiletto rather than wedge (sound rank but actually very nice - sorry no pic) or have something similar to these but not so clumpy with less platform (actually the more I describe them they are nothing like those!) - am worried they make the whole thing a bit office-y. Of course, dependent on the shoe I will also need a bag to go with .

Can I ask those of you with the Layla how you style it or your recommendations?

Am also considering these for with jeans as they remind me of a pair I had 20 years ago - or is that just plain wrong (in my defence I was a very stylish 16 year old, much more so that my very non stylish 36 year old self)?

Oh and am going for the gold ash hi tops.

Phew!
