Following on from here

Surely the sun will be out by the end of this thread?

Another Layla fan here - just not sure re the colours on me - I'm very, very pale so think the oyster would wash me out and I've never worn taupe. Can't try on as not near a shop. My colouring is similar to the actress Joanna Page - who plays Stacey in Gavin & Stacy - only pale blonde I can think of the mo!. Also have no boobs to speak off (34B) and a standard size 12. Would it be a good buy for me - ??? (does that sound whiney - wasn't meant too!)

hellsbelles · 10/03/2010 09:02

notyummy and carcifio - thanks! I've panic bought as they had only one left in my size! But those links look promising notyummy - so if it's not perfect (and it needs to be at that price) I know there are alternatives!

This arrived and is good for me. Wide straps are good because I need to wear a bra and because it's lined and there are slight gathers at the wait it is forgiving. However it is very long so I will have to have it taken up. It's not heartbreakingly perfect...but I think with flats on a hot summers day will look fresh and good.

VerityBrulee · 10/03/2010 11:46

AllBuggiedOut I am so delighted you got the coat! Did you get the red? I am very

Carciofi have you been to the Rathcool Avoca, it's a bit of a treck out there, but it's huge and the cafe is fab.

About the Layla dress, I would normally be a 10, have 32DD boobs, but can comfortably wear an 8 in this style. I have it in a dark red in 10 and oyster in 8. The oyster is slightly beigy rather than creamy so if you are v pale like me, you'll need a tan of some sort! OWW can you wear black? It is beautiful in black, really elegant. I saw a dark blue one on ebay a few days ago if that would suit anyone.

Esher I got the sheepskin insoles on ebay for less than a fiver. They and my cashmere wristwarmers were my best buys of the winter.

Love your dress Hells, perfect for long summer evenings

Morning all

Some of you may remember that I recently purchased this miraclesuit one piece from figleaves. I finally tried it on this morning and it is lovely, not a true navy, more of a dark royal blue or lobellia. Gorgeous for fellow 'winters'. The ruffle down the front helps with the tummy coverage. Very, very pleased. I think the cups could accomodate much larger cups than my Bs.

Re British holidays. I live in Wales for 52 weeks of the year. I suffer rain, wind, sleet, hail, frizzy hair, waterproof clothing, etc etc. I absolutely insist on the other 2 weeks being hot and dry.
Therefore need another swimming costume for the afternoon. What about /uk/product.asp?product=Seaspray-Polka-Dots-Long-length-twist-top-bandeau-suit-with-medium-control&p roduct_id=SEA-15-2751&size=&colour=Blues# this one?

blossoming · 10/03/2010 11:53

Sorry, forgot to preview, this one?

traceybath · 10/03/2010 12:10

Afternoon All.

Right will catch up in a second but those going on holiday - I've just ordered this bargain pool/beach cover up for £8.00 from sweaty betty - take a look.

Barbabelle · 10/03/2010 12:48

LTEC I'm the newbie who mentioned the Oushka Phoenix which I have in Ash. I think it must have been you that recommended it, thank you. I love it although I seem to be doing my best to trash it as it keeps meeting with unfortunate encounters. It's pretty tough, though, despite the delicate colour, and so far only has a bit of scuffing and a strange little grease mark to show for my maltreatment.

I'm working from home today and trying to catch up with this thread. Has been a couple of days since I posted but I don't think anyone has commented on these boots which I'm considering. Don't know whether to save the pennies for summer shoes instead. These in tan are possible contenders. Would really appreciate people's thoughts. I tend to live in leggings, minis and slouchy layered vests and tees at the moment. Love the Zoe Tees tie-dye leggings someone linked to earlier.

LetThemEatCake · 10/03/2010 13:15

flying visit ...

tracey great bargains on Betty site - am tempted by this hat.

hells love that maxi dress ... now who wants to find me a vibrant maxi? Not too exxy, boobs/ bra not an issue. Purples, greens, pinks and turquoise work well on me

barbabelle nice boots but I wouldn't bother ... go the glads

think I might not keep the espadrilles, as I do want something a bit 'tougher' I think ....

all this talk of this Layla dress ... 'tis lovely and hana, I think it should be yours for the wedding.

Cornish caravan park - a group of us go on a surfing holiday every easter. It'll be skinnies, leather Uggs, Arctic Parka, a selection of layering tops and my wetsuit. Tres glam!!! Did love the idea of maxis, shorts and wedges though.

cahu · 10/03/2010 13:32

Hi everyone, update on theKew bag

size good, shoulder strap plenty long enough for comfort, The problem is that the leather, whilst soft, bears no relation, colourwise to the one on the website. It is more of a dirty tan than the lovely creamy shade..... Going back...

bunnymother · 10/03/2010 13:37

Barbarelle - I don't like that style of boot myself, but think the glads you have linked to are lovely. Disclaimer: I have pretty traditional taste in shoes.

Think I am also being drawn into the Layla fan club, esp after seeing Sigourney Weaver in a v similar, albeit long, Lanvin dress at the Oscars. Really gorgeous, and quite perfect for weddings. Will have to see it in RL as have difficult colouring (pale but not in gorg ivory skinned way)...

traceybath · 10/03/2010 13:39

Barbabelle - I do like the boots but just can't bring myself to buy any more winter stuff. Love the alexas though - if I wasn't such a munchkin I would get those myself.

Right now I must be boring you lot because am boring myself regards hasbeens v chie mihara otelo heels. Think am going to get the hasbeens in natural as think they'll be more practical for day to day use but am still hankering after the otelo ones . . .

LTEC - love that hat - uber glam!

LetThemEatCake · 10/03/2010 13:43

tracey link to the otelos again??

traceybath · 10/03/2010 13:53

in suede as can get them in a 35.

I am so indecisive.

LetThemEatCake · 10/03/2010 13:57

Otelos hands down!!

traceybath · 10/03/2010 14:06

They are pretty aren't they

geordieminx · 10/03/2010 14:09

Tracey they are lovely - very chic!

Barbabelle - the boots are lovely and would look fab with denim min/leggings etc, but IMO are quite pricey, especially as we are coming out of winter (hopefully) now, so you probably wouldnt get much wear out of them unitl later in the year - they would just sit in your warbrobe taunting you Glads are nice, def get them instead, and perharps keep an eye out for a pair of boots in the sale?

LTEC - love the hat, although cant see how I could transport it to spain - esp as we are flying Ryanair... it would appear at the other end looking rather Worzel Gummage-esque I fear

Love the Layla dress - had a peek on ebay - the Navy is lovely too.

If anyone could help me over here it would be fab. Basically off to Grand National in 4 weeks but havent got a clue what to wear despite obsessing thinking about it for weeks. Main problem is the weather - we went once and it was glorious, but thinking back to recent years its been grim. I'm not really a coat person , but if needs must then I really dont want to spend ££££ on a dress that is hardly going to be seen under coat.

KristinaM · 10/03/2010 14:18

monkeysmamma - sorry no luck with your jacket - they are completely sold out in the large top shop here. The very helpful style advisor checked and double checked their stock room and telephoned two other large stores to see if they had it, without success.

She tried to get the style number by calling their Press Office ( I assume they do the website???) but they didnt have it as its no longer for sale on their site. However they did tell her that it would be coming back in again as it was so popular and she advises watching the website

HTH

monkeysmama · 10/03/2010 14:24

The asos package with all my dp's pressies in has arrived and my Aftershock eBay bargain. It looks divine but not tried it yet. Dd about to have a nap so will try all on. Cakey did you like your chinos?

Tracey the Otelos win hands down. They're beautiful. Did you see the cheaper hasbeens on the Yoox site? Not that I'm suggesting you get both .

monkeysmama · 10/03/2010 14:25

Kristina thank you very very much. I'm really grateful
and will keep my eyes firmly peeled!

LetThemEatCake · 10/03/2010 15:10

no chinos yet

blossoming - good cozzie.

Romanarama · 10/03/2010 15:43

Nap have sent me the anglomania jacket, but I suspect it will go back if there's nothing to go with it. I asked for an alternative and they reserved me this VW Red Label jacket, kskirt and shirt which I think are pretty cool, though maybe not the shirt. The description: 'inimitable chic', is after all what I'm after I suppose. What do you think? I'll think I'll order them with the Choos, which they didn't manage to put in with the Propaganda jacket, no idea why.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 10/03/2010 16:01

That skirt just looks messy Roman.

LetThemEatCake · 10/03/2010 16:01

I don't like it Roman sorry - too messy. I am quite conservative when it comes to workwear. Symmetry all the way for me!

My mother would say that the model looks like "a dog's dinner" And I'd be inclined to agree

LetThemEatCake · 10/03/2010 16:02

oh, x post with Libra - great minds.

LetThemEatCake · 10/03/2010 16:05

btw Libra, have not forgotten your dresses - just waiting until my next big trip to the PO when my ebay stuff finishes

I'm about to buy these - any reason why I shouldn't do you think?
