Does anyone ever look good in Jeggings?

They are horrible things, have just been in town and every other female under the age 25 seemed to wearing them, and they all looked awful.

they look ok with a long tunic top or short dress and boots. any kind of leggings look awful with short tops.

ShowOfHands · 17/02/2010 14:55

My 17yr old cousin, who has the body of an 11yr old looks just about okay in them. She's of the ballet pumps and little vest persuasion. Hair over face, sullen look.

I don't like any skinny/legging/tregging/jegging trousers look. Makes you look like you're about to topple over like a weeble due to the strange narrowing of leg, widening of hip effect. It's like building a pyramid but starting with one block on the bottom, it's stupid, obviously looks wrong and everybody can see it except you.

ThatVikRinA22 · 17/02/2010 14:58

my dd looks good in them, but she is 12!

aSilverLining · 17/02/2010 14:59

no

ShowOfHands · 17/02/2010 14:59

Look, they're indefensible.

I think I'm prudish though. I don't want to see the precise outline of your body, I barely want to see mine.

sweetnitanitro · 17/02/2010 14:59

I thought they looked awful on everyone until I saw my friend (31) in them. She was wearing them with a chunky jumper dress and biker boots. Mind you, she's one of those irritating people that could make a bin bag look stylish and flattering.

ShowOfHands · 17/02/2010 15:04

Jumper dress? Should call them drumpers non?

I despair of the world. It smacks of greed. I can't possibly wear clothes that are one thing, I want two things at once. Half jumper, half dress. Half leggings, half trousers. Half blanket, half coat.

By 2020 we'll be wearing drumpereggings with built in hat. I'll stand right out in my Normal Clothes.

I can see it now, rabid fashion designers grilling the new girl on the scene. Well yes, it's a shoe, but what else is it? Can it cook? Is it a camera?

I should live on an island by myself.

I think i look good in them , well i don't really care as i wear them because they are comfortable and i like them.

I'm 28 so i don't feel too old to wear them, maybe not as great on a 50 year old though.

I think it depends on your legs, luckily i have kept my nice slim legs (shame about the rest of me ) and it depends what you wear with them (i always wear something on top that covers by bottom).

JamesJamesMorrisonMorrison · 17/02/2010 15:10

Nope. They are grim.
The friend of sweetnitanitro's who looked good in them sounds like she looke good because 90% of them were covered by dress and boots!
On to the next unwearable fashion craze please...

AnyFucker · 17/02/2010 15:16

I do

get over it

slightlystressed · 17/02/2010 15:27

They do seem to be worn like jeans, ie, wear a short top with them rather than leggings, maybe thats where people are going wrong. I wont be buying any thats for sure.

I do have skinny jeans but still wear alot of my bootcut jeans (are they really out of fasion now?)....so much more flattering on the bigger bottom.

wildfig · 17/02/2010 15:31

i am confused and scared by jeggings, and the whole lingering skinny jeans/leggings/tunics/short dresses thing in general. I'm not that big, but have thighs like a prop forward, and feel a bit like Hattie Jacques probably did when mini skirts came in, ie, resigned to 10 years of dressing like someone's mother.

Bring back crinolines and, ideally, bustles.

franke · 17/02/2010 15:37

I think they're fine as long as they only show from just above the knee to just below the knee. Any more than that is, frankly, indecent.

Disenchanted3 · 17/02/2010 15:39

My 1 year old DD looks adorable in them

saramoon · 17/02/2010 16:26

My 57 year old mother has just bought some. Admittedly she does look young for her age but still, i'm not sure about it. I'm 37 - just - and wouldn't but hey people can wear what they like - just not sure about MY mother

I look fab in mine.
They have been a style godsend for me, for the first time I can wear jeans tucked into boots ( being chunky of calf)
I love mine.

upahill · 17/02/2010 16:47

Marne You are wrong!

Some of our staff are over 50 and they look flippin marvellous in them!! One lady I am thinking of is 5'9 long blond hair, slim and 56 years old and DOESN'T try to look young or be anything she is not.I think her trick is to buy good quality stylish clothes. I know she shops at Harvey Nicks and Selfridges. ( I know some of you will be thinking stylish and jeggings together how does that work? ) She looks funky and fashionable without trying too hard and has done in the 25 years I have known her!!

fishie · 17/02/2010 16:49

i look rather marvellous too. is all about the legs...

LoverOfGreenTea · 17/02/2010 17:02

I have bad legs but I still look great in them as I wear with biker boots and tunics - you don't see very much of them and they are DAMN comfy - no belts or owt.

indeed friends wouldn't believe they were jeggings and have now gone out and bought same - I do wear very dark navy ones and make sure they have a few wrinkles so as not to look totally sprayed on, would never wear with short top, or non-boots

hey, they rock!

SixtyFootDoll · 17/02/2010 17:04

Yes I wear mine with biker boots or high ankle boots and long tops/ jumper dresses.
I am 38
5'5 and a size 10-12

traceybath · 17/02/2010 17:04

Am I missing something - they're just super skinny jeans in denim not legging material.

So if you have slim legs they're fine.

If you can see clear outlines of certain areas - they're too small. I could easily wear mine with a short top and would look no different to skinny jeans.

GreenMonkies · 17/02/2010 17:15

Only those who are less than 10% body fat and under the age of 13. On anyone else, like leggings of all kinds, no matter what you wear them with they look bloody awful.

helenthemadex · 17/02/2010 17:40

no I look like an egg in a sock in mine but still wear them to clean the house with a long top great for scaring away cold callers
