They are horrible things, have just been in town and every other female under the age 25 seemed to wearing them, and they all looked awful.

i dont like those net a porter ones.tescos ones are stupidly stupid.they have to be just right.

SparklyGothKat · 17/02/2010 18:39

i have super skinny legs and wanted a pair of skinny jeans but couldn't find any that looked baggy on me I love jeggings, I wear them with long tops and boots

SparklyGothKat · 17/02/2010 18:40

didn't look baggy on me

cheesesarnie · 17/02/2010 18:44

exactly sparkly!to me jeggings are just skinny jeans.

Saudi · 17/02/2010 19:03

Fall down too much on me

traceybath · 17/02/2010 19:04

I do personally prefer skinny jeans but I'm small and don't do tunics really - bit too white stuff

overmydeadbody · 17/02/2010 19:17

Yep I certainly do, I have the legs.

And I know better than to wear short or tight tops with them.

Most people could probably pull them off provided they where wearing the right size and teamed it with the right top and shoes.

overmydeadbody · 17/02/2010 19:19

Yes they are just like skinny jeans, apart form the fact that you don't get the bulge where the flies and waistband are, so they make you look better when teamed with long tops.

HarrietTheSpy · 17/02/2010 19:29

No.No they don't.

HinnyPet · 17/02/2010 19:30

Hello DomesticG0ddess I am the same as you - tall, good legs, I wear with a jumper dress that covers me toosh along with chunky mid calf or knee boots.

Wanderingsheep · 17/02/2010 19:31

I was having this conversation with my sister yesterday when we were out shopping. I have never seen anyone who looks nice in them!

psychomum5 · 17/02/2010 19:32

I have just bought myself two pairs from H&M....they are not legging material tho, they are of heavy stretchy cotton, like very stretchy skinny jeans.

I am od odd proportions tho......I am slim, but waist is 27 and hips are 34 so proper skinny jeans don;t fit me properly....they either fit my waist and are then loose on hips and legs, so are not skinny, or fit my hips and legs and make me look as tho I have a muffin top......even thru my long tops I wear with them...so clearly not a good look.

I got them tho as I am tired of wearing PJ's all the time while I recover, and don;t want to wear anything that digs in and is uncomfy while I am recovering (IYGWIM), and I wanted something different.

I did originally get a sz10, but due to complete knackeredness (went into one shop and felt as tho I was going to collapse), didn;t try them on. Put them on at home and they looked dreadful.......my bum was squished and I had a very definate camels hoof, and even tho I wasn;t going to wear them with anything short, I would know how they looked and would feel guilty all the time on MN....

I sent the girls up to change them, and to also get the dark grey ones (I originally bought the dark denim ones), and they got them both in a sz 12 for me, and they look fab (IMVHO), and feel wonderful for relaxing in.

and that, for me, is the point

If I venture out, I will wear with my biker boots and long jacket.

more to the point tho, DH thinks I look great in them, and his opinion is really the one I should be wanting!

Spacehoppa · 17/02/2010 19:32

I got caught out rather horribly on leggings first time ound. When I have put an almost mythical amount of work in at the loal swimming pool I might look OK providin the tunic top is long enough...

janeite · 17/02/2010 19:34

Dd1's birthday party the other day (15).
Three girls in 'treggings' or 'jeggings' - all three of them slim and attractive BUT the three in leggings (or variations thereof) all looked MUCH worse than the rest of the girls, who were in 'proper' skinny jeans or mini skirts.

They look universally hideous imho.

traceybath · 17/02/2010 19:36

Funny thing is although I am defending them I do think I look better in skinny jeans. So agree with janeite to some extent.

janeite · 17/02/2010 19:41

I must admit, Tracey, that I haven't tried skinny jeans on either: or not since I was about 15 and my poor mum had to sew me into them! As a 5'2 hour glass, jeans look pretty hideous on me tbh. I wore straight legged jeans today, as we were having a 'schlepping' day - and felt awful all day.

girlybags · 17/02/2010 20:27

My mother put me off leggings for life when I was younger, she used to have all different kinds - velvet ones, leopard print ones and even wet look ones with a lace panel running down the outside of each leg :O

I wouldn't wear them personally (any kind, whether denim look or whatever)but I think they look ok on slim people as long as they're worn with something that covers their bum!

TeflonMum · 17/02/2010 20:29

NO. I have never seen anyone look good in them. Ever. They look cheap. They don't even look nice on slender legged, pert arsed 16 yr olds, so God help all the 30-something mums wandering around in them.

muggglewump · 17/02/2010 20:33

I'd look like a fat upside down triangle in them. I wouldn't even try them on for the fright I'd get as I looked in the mirror.

I saw a woman wearing them the other day who was fat as fuck not that slim, she also had her top tucked into them and looked like a telly tubby, complete with nappy bum.

It was all I could do not to snigger noticeably

darkbluejean · 17/02/2010 20:36

I have a pair, I'm 36, I love them.

Reason?

I like the skinny jeans look but my belly is too big for the low-rise cut of the skinny jean so the jegging is the perfect solution. Not only does it goes over my tum tum but it also highlights the only skinny(ish) thing on me - my shins.

Worn with long tops or dresses only, of course.

roundwindow · 17/02/2010 20:45

@ Showofhands. You've made my day (and can I join you on that island?)

faffmaff · 17/02/2010 21:01

My fave look is where they don't fit right and the crotch hangs halfway down the thigh. Mmmmmmm.

Disenchanted3 · 17/02/2010 21:04

showofhands

your post almost made me wee a little

''By 2020 we'll be wearing drumpereggings with built in hat''

hahahaha

scarybiscuit · 17/02/2010 21:31

vile......................

CurlyCasper · 17/02/2010 21:34

Depends. Leggings with denim print are awful.

But those that are like soft jeans, just with a different, elastic, waistband, are fine.
They don't look much different to skinny jeans, but should definitely be worn with over-the-arse tops.

I have one pair, which I refer to as my skinny jeans rather than "jeggings" cause I find the term so hideous, and I am spending most of this pregnancy in them or black leggings, knee high boots and baggy/tunic tops.

Get the look without the pain across the belly, I say!
