too many women seem to have boobs pointing south, or four of them.

then LOOK AT YOUR REAR VIEW

have you a fat back rippling out from underneath it?
if so please get a bigger bra.

ithankyou

vamanos, there are bras out there to suit your shape. Your shape is similar to a friend of mine, and no, not the easiest find a bra for. That is why youv'e foudn the majority of them uncomfortable. What sort of size are you under bust? plunge bras, like the wonder bra type style are good for wide set, wider boobs. Yet i'd need to know your size ish iyswim.

hth

piratecat · 24/03/2009 23:26

sorry backfat is unavoidable, if you have back fat. we used to say at r+P, 'these' (meaning boobs) we can help with but any leftovers we can't do anything about!!!

Yet again, style of bra is important.

blithedance · 24/03/2009 23:49

only solution to back fat and bulges

If you are a big cup size you really need a firm fit around the underbust to support the cups and give you something to tighten up the shoulder straps against. Better to have a good shape in front and ignore the back view!

There is a lot of variation in how bras are cut even if they appear the same size, there are some that dig in around the arms/sides more I find.

blithedance · 24/03/2009 23:52

PC, Bravissimo stock brands like Freya, Fantasie and Panache. They are mostly decent quality and really pretty, IME. The thing is that people who are unusual sizes tend to have fewer bra's in their collection (because so expensive and hard to find) so they do get worn and washed to death.

JustKeepSwimming · 25/03/2009 06:27

StundentMidwife - have you tried FF? maybe as a compromise and LaSenza do them

Nontoxic - ask PC again, think you got lost in the pile of posts!
but according to measurements of 32 under & 37 around, that would make you a 32DD or 32E (can't figure out the halfsizes they confuse me!).
but if a 32 is really too tight - with the right cup size - then 34 but then you would come down a cup size (i think!) to 34D.
That should mean that your 34FFs are baggy thought surely?

Vamanos - not that you would probably want to wear bf bras if not bf but the Bravado style here would work for you as it overlaps at the front allowing for boobs to be far apart.
and the back would be supportive. I certainly found them comfortable & the band is wide elastic.
Not sure if you can get non-bf bras like that?

I have New Bras . One especially gives me BREASTS rather than just breasts.

TrillianAstra · 25/03/2009 10:14

Wow! Congratulations!

Lizzzombie · 25/03/2009 10:22

Back fat is quite normal.
Would you rather have a roll of fat on your back (that you yourself can't see) - and tits up where they are supposed to be. Or have your tits by your knees - but a smoother back.

OP - I think you must have small norks if this bothers you.

BTW - apparently the correct terminology for excess back fat is 'greek boobs'.

soddingNorks · 25/03/2009 11:37

does anyone know how to fix the "bra sends back muscles into spasm" thing where every bra ever tried on cuts in under shoulder blades?

I've been told/tried everything from 32AA to 40-somethingAA and gave up and wore veests. Now pg and things are getting too floaty-under-the-tshirt to not wear a bra, but the one I've got on has cut off the feeling in my right arm... arggg!

nb posted elsewhere about this, thanks to those who answered. Unwired Triumph jobs so far aren't feeling triumphant.

MumOfAPickle · 25/03/2009 11:55

Ooooh GREAT thread. My first boobie related one, feel like one of the girls proper.

Right, I've always had bra size issues. Only been measured once at M&S. Apparantly bad then? Always thought they were the authority.... Anyway, this was years ago way before DS and so of no use to my new flippy floppy numbers.

I am cursed/blessed with largish norks and have just measured at 30 underneath and 38 round nips. So on old way (georgiemama rules) I am 34DD and on new way (piratecat rules) I am 30 something . I can't be 30!!! Surely not, they'd never go round me would they?

Am confused and excited at the same time..

TrillianAstra · 25/03/2009 11:59

Get yourself to a bra shop (not M&S) and do some trying on! What size are you wearing at the moment?

MumOfAPickle · 25/03/2009 12:07

Right. Just checked. Am at work. Wearing a dress . Luckily on own in office.

Its a 36D. Label says Secret Possessions which I have a sneaking (and slighty shameful) suspicion is primark..... Kind of fits ok but any sort of movement seems to cause the old 4 boob issue and I have to re-jig. I do seem to do this with all my bras.... kind of have to pull the top of the cup up and out a bit to re-arrange. Also can get whole hand comfortably under the back band (well not comfortably in terms of arm twisting but ykwim!). Is this bad???

PinkTulips · 25/03/2009 12:22

ok so i'm 34 under and 41.5 over... what does that make me then as ever bra fitting site tells me differant

PinkTulips · 25/03/2009 12:25

and i am NOT a 38C like the hot milk site would like me to believe

TrillianAstra · 25/03/2009 12:27

MumOfAPickle you definitely need smaller numbers and probably bigger letters then. And it IS Primark (shame on you! )

PinkTulips we have been told two methods for working it out, Georgimama's is the 'old rules' involving adding 4 to your under size, which would make you a 38 C or D. Piratecat's rules say you don't add anything, which means you are a 34 (something big). F or G? I'm not quite sure because I don't know when we start counting doubles as well.

Flamesparrow · 25/03/2009 12:37

TA - that also means that YOU know what primark underwear is called

PinkTulips · 25/03/2009 12:39

well the adding inches doesn't work for me, i have 38's in nursing bras and i could fit an extra person under the band... bought 34E last year but it wasn't quite right... cups were weird and i've had another baby since then so lord knows.

i just want someone to tell me! live in the middle of nowhere and my only option for buying nice bras is via the internet so i need to know what size i am!

i don't feel like an F or a G that said they seem the same size to me as they always have and my old 34C's barely hold a fraction of the boob so possibly my perception has become somewhat warped

I don't feel like an F either. They don't look that big to me.

TrillianAstra · 25/03/2009 12:45

I used to have a Saturday job in Primark

PinkTulips I think you need to go online and resign yourself to the fact that you will be sending some bras back (do some places have free returns?). Then find a bra you like the look of, and order it in 34 and 36 E F and G. Try them all on and send back the 5 wrong ones. In fact while you're at it get a couple of styles, in a variety of sizes, as some styles just might not work for you in any size.

PinkTulips · 25/03/2009 12:50

ahh, but for that method i have to have the money to pay for all the bras up front... i can just about scrape together the money for one good bra.

might have to drive to our closest big town and be a complete cow in some laungerie shop trying on 20 bras and walking out without buying one

MumOfAPickle · 25/03/2009 12:58

Just flicked back through as am about to go to lunch and thought about trying on bras (only one possible shop near work and its a Peacocks , primark and peacocks, I really am quite the dandy). Just flicked back through and am I right in saying that according to piratecat et al I am a 30H?! Don't think I'm going to find that in Peacocks.....

Can someone confirm that 30 underneath and 38 on nips would put me there??

Is there anywhere on the average high street (although I live in London I rarely venture out of the borough these days, except at night) which people would recommend for mad sizes/measuring?

Vamonos · 25/03/2009 13:07

piratecat - thanks for the info, I've just measured and I'm 33-34 inches under the bust, and about 38 on the bust.

Boobs fairly un-saggy. Nipples (without bra) are about 10 inches apart.

My boob tissue seems to stretch right round past my armpits nearly to my back

BitOfFun · 25/03/2009 13:43

PinkTulips, you are a 34GG
