too many women seem to have boobs pointing south, or four of them.

then LOOK AT YOUR REAR VIEW

have you a fat back rippling out from underneath it?
if so please get a bigger bra.

ithankyou

i measure 34 under the boobs which makes sense as that's the size that fits best, although nothing i have is a big enough cup... my biggest is an E and that's a bikini and really isn't right... am living mostly in stretched horrible nursing bras atm and they're not doing much of anything really... might as well not wear them.

we're about 50 miles from closest town and that's not got great shops, closest city is galway which is an hour and a half away. i would go in a flash but have 3 under 5 that i'd have to bring and here's just no way after an hour and a half in the car that they'lll actually let me shop!

BitOfFun · 25/03/2009 16:59

Its online for you then m'dear! Seriously, GG if you can get it, certainly no lower than an F. I liked the credit card suggestion earlier, order 3 and try them all!

piratecat · 25/03/2009 16:59

i saw some great fantasie bras today, they are my fave in fact. I will go and hunt down names and things, a bit later. I tried on a few different styles today.

I am a 34e. Even for me, it is very hard to find the best fit, with what is on offer, but just getting your size right or very near, is a good start.

Bra's for our/your sort of size in Fantasie come in a 'full cup' or a balcony. Now a balcony style isn't like something out of an Elizabethan film, it sorta pulls you in more at the sides.

i am going to have to find examples. I will come back later.

piratecat · 25/03/2009 17:07

me again

go here to see my fave bra, and there you can see the different shapes a bra can give you, and this is just one style of bra, by Fantasie. The style is called Belle. The balcony one is my fave shape. The full com would squash me/my type of boobs out too much.

www.figleaves.com/uk/nsf/qwiser.asp?term=fantasie%20belle&original=fantasie%2520belle&match=exact

another of my faves is a bra called Cally, and there is one called Helena.

I have had one Belle, and one Cally alternating for 2 1/2 yrs now !!!

BitOfFun · 25/03/2009 19:26

Gah, I have just spent thirty quid on that site, grrrr...

blithedance · 25/03/2009 20:29

I am a 30FF and I'd really recommend this style, Rio by Freya (who are part of Fantasie IIRC). It's really comfortable and a lovely shape, even if it's not very flowery.

Bravissimo have trained fitters who will talk you through an order over the phone and then you can ring them up again when you have your order to check the fit. They do free returns and exchanges. They are not the only place but definitely a specialist.

Piratecat is right a balconette style is a lot more flattering. In the search for something seamfree I ordered one of these full-cup bra's - the shape is much more old-lady (spread out and droopy) so it's going straight back and I'll stick with the balconette style in the future.

triffictits · 25/03/2009 22:24

i have that bra in white and black blithedance. I agree its really comfy.
I want a nice seamless bra too that is comfortable - I have the Fantasie one you linked and again, I have to agree, crap shape.
Has anyone got a good seamless bra?

Pirate, thanks for your help and info. Think i may go and get re-measured at Bravissimo as I may have put weight on!

Despite my name, I need as much help as poss in the nork area, they have drooped in the last couple of years

Linnet · 25/03/2009 22:49

I am in desperate need of a new bra, I hate the one I have but it was so expensive from the local independant bra shop that I've had to wait a while before justifying buying a new one.

What does it mean though if the straps keep fallin off your shoulders?
This happens to me all day, the straps fall off my shoulders, if I tighten the straps the back rides up but if I fix the back the straps fall down again.

Do I need a bigger size across the back? I think I might need to go up a back size and down a cup size, would this be correct?

blithedance · 25/03/2009 23:02

I think the seamless one, there is a balconette version that's almost the same and I'm going to swap it for that.

I also have narrow shoulders, some bra's are worse than others, the Freya one is not too bad on that front. You need to look carefully at the picture. eg this would probably have straps far to the side of the cup, but this looks better.

If the back rides up at all, you need a smaller (tighter) back size. So go down a number, up a cup size, and do the shoulder straps up much tighter than you think you should. No woman should have to wear an uncomfortable bra. You will wear it 10 times as much as a cheap rubbish one.

Linnet · 25/03/2009 23:09

I can't go down a back size as I can't get into a 32, I wear a 34 at the moment as I measure 33 inches round the ribs. 32 is just too tight.

I think I need to go back to the independant shop and try on loads of bras, I'm not happy with this one they gave me last time, it has a full cup and I think the style is all wrong as when I try to wear a v neck top you can see the cup of the bra! I think I need a balconette style, had one once before and I loved it, didn't have it in my size last time though.

piratecat · 26/03/2009 07:20

In that case, it could be that the cups aren't big enough, and that the bra isn't good enough? Your bra might have stretched. Or you realy need to try on a few 34's, to find a tighter style.
Badly made bras, do not have the support. Some well made bras don't either. Manufactureres put these ridiculous thin straps on, which ok, if you are full cupped yo'd love to wear, but you can't hang two d cups up with two bits of string!!!

piratecat · 26/03/2009 07:24

blithedance, the lovely bra by freya!! Is the lacey bit at the top part of the cups stretchy or quite a firm lace, strethcy isn't good. I am thinking that with your size, you wuold get best shape from not too stretchy!!

I used to get freya bras, but swapped back to Fantasie, as my local Debanhams didn't have much of a range anymore. Might investigate again, good to get this recommendation!!

JustKeepSwimming · 26/03/2009 09:39

Linnet - what are you wearing currently 34-what?
and what do you measure 'around' the boobs?

UpInArms · 26/03/2009 09:48

Another Cod .. dont do this thread, I say your all idiots if you do

georgimama · 26/03/2009 10:06

You're an idiot if you want to wear a bra that fits properly?

Really?

SoupDragon · 26/03/2009 10:09

You're certainly an idiot if you don't know the difference between "your" and "you're"

HarmOkne · 26/03/2009 10:20

It wasn't the topic I was referring to, it was the nature of the OP.

You are an idiot if you cannot recognise that

SoupDragon · 26/03/2009 10:26

I wouldn't normally correct grammar but that's the only post by that particular poster...

BitOfFun · 26/03/2009 10:28

I think the OP was deviated from pretty early on tbh- it has hardly been pages of fawning posts, and we can talk about bras if we like, so ner...

< gavel >

georgimama · 26/03/2009 10:34

The nature of the OP? What am I not following here? This may or may not be cod in a new guise, who cares?

HarmOkne, did you name change to attack the OP and then forget to keep it up? Oh dear.

HarmOkne · 26/03/2009 10:38

[grin[

[meh]

BitOfFun · 26/03/2009 10:40

I think the implication is that the thread is a bitchfest and we are all cod groupies. Obviously the thread isn't remotely bitchy though, and if we wanted a bitchfest we would be more than capable without being egged on by anyone in particular...I noticed the namechange too Doh!

georgimama · 26/03/2009 10:46

If the OP is cod under a new guise I think it is a bit unfair to out her, especially HarmOnke as you have only been using the name HarmOnke for 3 days, and yet as you are aware of "codgate" you must be a long term MNer who has name changed for whatever reason.

I'm not going to start trying to fgure out who you were and out you, it isn't fair to do it to someone else.

And I am not nor never was a cod "groupie". Nor a Moldie, just to clear that one up in advance.

BitOfFun · 26/03/2009 10:49
