too many women seem to have boobs pointing south, or four of them.

then LOOK AT YOUR REAR VIEW

have you a fat back rippling out from underneath it?
if so please get a bigger bra.

ithankyou

MumOfAPickle - try a 32F, if they have lost a little volume. You may well need a bigger cup, but if they are a little affected by gravity you may get away with this size before you are condemned to specialist H's, so lets try the F first...

BitOfFun · 25/03/2009 13:51

Nontoxic - justkeepswimming is right - technically you are a 32E, but she is right to suggest the 34D as a compromise if you hate the tight band feeling.

TrillianAstra · 25/03/2009 13:53

Oh good, the experts are back, I'm just making stuff up you know.

I do have an answer for the internet ordering thing: order a whole bunch of bras on your credit card right after you get a bill (credit cards are recommended for online stuff anyway because they're safer). Get bras, try them on, return the ones you don't need sharpish, and the refund will be on your card before the next bill comes. So you only need to find real money to pay for the ones you keep.

TrillianAstra · 25/03/2009 14:00

I'm not sure I believe all this measurig stuff.

My tapemeasure only does cm, if I deflate my chest completely the smallest I can get my back to be is 79cm.
Still breathing out, measuring round at nipple-height is about 89cm. Now 10cm is about 4 inches, but I know I'm definitely not any kind of D-cup.

So what's going on? Can I have a C? Maybe I should go bra-shopping...

Vamonos · 25/03/2009 14:03

Justkeepswimming - sorry, just read thread properly and saw your post.

Yes, bf bras like are the only comfortable ones I've worn (I wore mine for about 18 months before they disintegrated!). I think it must be because they don't have seams between the bust and the armpit. Sadly not perfect from a style point of view as they are cut high and straps tend to be unsuitable for public viewing (not that I go out of my way to display them, but they seem to ride around a bit on me).

Also the stretchy fabric tends to mean you get the peanut smuggling effect when it's cold! But good idea, thank you, I'll explore and see if there are any styles which fit the requirements.

BitOfFun · 25/03/2009 14:31

Trillian, don't deflate your chest, just stand comfortably....I have my tape measure here (in work, on duty!) so I can do you a virtual fitting if you are still here?

TrillianAstra · 25/03/2009 14:41

I'm back. Somewhere between 79 if I deflate and 86 if I inflate. Ummm, 81?

Then when I'm doing the boob-measuring part how do I deal with the fact that there's a big gap between them? I don't go in and out again, as that would make a pointlessly bigger measurement, do I pretend the two sticky-out-est bits join up with a straight line (as if wearing a t-shirt)?

BitOfFun · 25/03/2009 14:47

Just relax and stand normally, breathing like a normal person rather than the loon you sound , and measure in a straight line.

TrillianAstra · 25/03/2009 14:50

I am a loon, obviously, since my chest gets bigger and smaller when I breathe in and out

Okay then do me at 81cm and 89cm. Then tomorrow I'll go try on some bras in the sizes you instruct me to.

BitOfFun · 25/03/2009 14:53

32C is my best guess...Although you may want a 34DD for special holding your breath and flinging your chest out moments

TrillianAstra · 25/03/2009 14:58

Ha, no, if I'm planning on flinging my chest out I want and nice tight bra to squeeze them together

All my current bras are 34B so I will try some 32Cs tomorrow

LexisMummy · 25/03/2009 15:05

Dear Original Poster,
Sorry, haven't read all the posting, just scanned through to get your measurements. I am a bra measurer for Yummy Mummy Maternity and just want to add my opinion.. From the bit that said 33-34, then 38 on the bust, I just wanted to check that you were getting this measurement of 38" when you were actually wearing a bra, rather than hanging loose... If you had a bra on, then you would be a 34E. If you didn;t, go back and do it again, and post your size, and I'll reply. In fact, I'm going to have a cup of tea and might post the ultimate measuring guide! X

BitOfFun · 25/03/2009 15:13

It's not exact though, because it depends how much of the bigger measurement is actual boobage really. By the tape measure I should be a 34G, but I find an E cup fits best, and I think that my back must just get bigger too that bit higher up. It depends how you are shaped, I think.

Vamonos · 25/03/2009 15:13

LexisMummy - if you meant me with the 33-34 and 38 measurements, then that was with a lightly elasticated crop top on. Without anything on, my bust is 39.

TrillianAstra · 25/03/2009 15:15

LexisMummy - an ultimate measureing guide would be lovely if you can be bothered to type one.

I always wondered about the bust measurement, if you measure while wearing a bra, but your bra is the wrong size, doesn't that mean that the bra may be compressing your boobs, so you would get the wrong measurement?

So if you are wearing a C but should be wearing an E, won't the C-cup bra be squishing your boobs to C-proportions (leading to the lovely 4-boobed monster) so the place where you measure would indeed come out as a C?

But then if you measure without a bra your boobs could be all over the place (especially considering that they may have been used to feed babie, etc), so what is the answer?

Vamonos · 25/03/2009 15:17

I know what you mean BitOfFun - I often find with larger cup sizes they gape hugely at the top as my boobs don't 'lift up into' them to fill the cup, they just kind of sit solidly in a low-slung kind of way

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 25/03/2009 15:22

just been into Debenhams today as they have a 20% sale off everything, bought 3 NEW bra's they had loads of bigger stock, I am a 34G and there was LOADS of choice.

PinkTulips · 25/03/2009 15:53

dear god... GG? surely not?

[looks downwards in newfound appreciation].... no wonder i keep getting mastitis in 36Ds

trillian, sadly no credit card or i would have tried that already i use visa vouchers which you pay up front [meanies]

might have to borrow some money from my inheritance money.... my grandparents would have wanted me to have nice bras surely? [innocent]

TrillianAstra · 25/03/2009 16:10

Or going into shops and making a nuisance of yourself is also a good plan Tulips!

Sounds like you had a good day Greyskull - I might check out Debenhams when I go into town tomorrow.

piratecat · 25/03/2009 16:18

hello all,
guess what i tto spotted the sale in Debenhams today, i actually asked to be fitted, to report back and guess what??
she measured undermy boobs but then said, 'we are not measuring around the boobs anymore, so we can't tell you what your cup size is, but we can try some on you, and go from there, because it can vary betwee all themakes , and we can't give you a definitive answer'

hooooorrrrrayyyyyyyyy, i am GLAD, becuase now it doesn't mean women are hearing a size and only buying that size no matter what!!

any way she concluded I am a 36

then she ran away!! Said oh the bra you have on fits fine what's that, i said a 34 !!

notoxic, sorry. justkeepswimming is spot on.

oh, and to add a bit of fun into the mix, i did try on a few 34's today which did seeem much too tight, so i concurr i have put on a bit of weight. Yet i now a 36 is too loose.

BitOfFun · 25/03/2009 16:25

Maybe the 34s were too tight just because the elastic has gone in your old ones and you've got used to it? < hopeful >

Interesting that they didn't even hazard a guess at your cup size though...

Did you see what I said at 15:13:08 ? Does that make sense to you, or am I making it up as I go along?

piratecat · 25/03/2009 16:31

as with Rigby and peller, i don't like the measuring tape. In there we justused to be able to loo at someone, firstly from behing, braless, to see what the back measurement would be. That is the part that is the most important, and the pkace to start. Geting this right is the basis, the support around the chest.

I am only asking ladies on here to actually measure round to get an idea of what we are talking about!! Becuase as we have seen, many are wearing 36's or 38's and thier chest is more like a 34.

remember this part, thenumber part is ONLY the measurment around your ribs.

PinkTulips · 25/03/2009 16:34

but how are use country bumpkins supposed to order online then if there's no such thing as standardised cup sizes?

so bra expert ladies, what style of bra is best for big boobs with no elasticity at all after 5 years of continuous stretching?

piratecat · 25/03/2009 16:34

oh hi, just read your 15.13 post. totally with you there. Everything is different. You and i could have the same size bras but our boobs could look totally different!! Some people have longer boobs, wider set, god the list is endless. Soem people are short in the back, long in the back, and thier boobs are therefore closer to their shoulders and vice versa!!!

piratecat · 25/03/2009 16:37

pink tulips, i am a country bumpkin too!! I live abuot 25 miles form my nearest town. I would say please try and go to a bra shop, or dept store. This Bravissimo place sounds cool.

Sorry if you are repeating yourslef but what size did you measure under your boobs. What have you tried.
