too many women seem to have boobs pointing south, or four of them.

then LOOK AT YOUR REAR VIEW

have you a fat back rippling out from underneath it?
if so please get a bigger bra.

ithankyou

Am at DSM.

piratecat · 24/03/2009 21:10

you don't add inches to your under chest measurement.

it was me who tried to explain!!

ok, inches were added on to enable the poor fitters, who had not many sizes to get your boob to fit into a cup. Yrs back (and not that many) there were only these sorts of sizes

34, 36, 38, 40 , 42 a, b, c, d

have a look, especially at those cheapo bras in the supplemets.

so

if you had a big boob, and were actually a 34 tho, around your chest, they would add a few inches to that round the chest (under boob ) measurement so as to get to say a 38, or even a 40. this would then ensure a large cup.

BUT

now, you can get 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40 etc in all the cups.

i used to be a 36 c, before i woked in rigby and peller. yes, my boob fitted into the cup. Think bigger band (ie under the boob) = wider and biger cup. BUT the band itself was too loose around my back.

36c
34d
32dd/e

i was actually a 32 (fitted my underboob) dd.

georgimama · 24/03/2009 21:13

But I AM a 34C. It fits! My rib cage is 30 inches around and the boobs are 36 inches. That's 34C.

Otherwise by your version I'd be a 30G and that's just daft.

BitOfFun · 24/03/2009 21:14

I have been fighting the good fight piratecat, I was holding the fort till you got here!

DSM, nice pair! I still reckon I give you a run for your money though < sniff >

piratecat · 24/03/2009 21:15

dsm

you look more like a 34 dd to me.

i am size 14 on my top half, small ribcage tho. i measure 34/35 round my ribs. and 39 over fullest part of my boob. i am a 34 e.

Of course it also depends on manufacturer, style, etc,, as does every bit of clothing.

georgimama, how loose is your bra round yuor back, would liek to know.

georgimama · 24/03/2009 21:18

Not loose at all. It fits on the middle hook. Straight around the back, not riding up or down. Always has.

AnyFucker · 24/03/2009 21:18

dsm, I reckon you are a 28FF

< throws in stoopid commentary >

BitOfFun · 24/03/2009 21:18

30G is not daft. But you must look like footballer's wife though

catinthehat1 · 24/03/2009 21:19

Georgi, admit it, the bra is round your ankles, and it's giving your kneecaps cleavage.

piratecat · 24/03/2009 21:20

georgimama, you are a 30 e/f imo

yes the bra fits, on the cup, but it's not tight enough round your back.

BUT i will say this, m+S may actually make some of their bras to fit their 'equation' procces iyswim.
the majority of bras in 34 band would swamp you.

i wear 34, and i am size 14.
bitoffun nice to see you !!

georgimama · 24/03/2009 21:21

It isn't! I would take a photo but I think DH (who is sitting right here) would object. My bra goes around my back in a nice straight line, in the right place. It fits. Honest gov.

DSM · 24/03/2009 21:21

TBH if your norks are 36 (same as mine) and your underneath is 30 (5 inches thinner than mine) then I should think a 30G would fit.

Oh, and thanks all for the comments

Must remove photos before someone wonders.. most people have photos of their children.

georgimama · 24/03/2009 21:22

The bra fits. Truly is does, it isn't loose. I don't even buy bras from M&S - too expensive! This is an Asda finest. But it does fit.

georgimama · 24/03/2009 21:25

I am really pear shaped DSM, almost triangular. My dear mother always used to say I should become a newsreader, because from natural waist upwards I am tiny, but I have the biggest arse imaginable.

BitOfFun · 24/03/2009 21:33

Could you move over then, I am completely unable to enjoy my south-facing garden

BitOfFun · 24/03/2009 21:41

Sorry, reference to another thread...I had better shuffle off on my own fat arse before I have no friends left

StudentMadwife · 24/03/2009 21:42

I am fourtits but I refuse to buy a bigger bra, 36F is as far as Im prepared to go, i will not buy a G!!
I like lasenza's as they sell them for £5 in the outlet(never paid less than £25 for a bra) and also cos they come in young fun designs like pink polka dots and cowgirl etc

Nontoxic · 24/03/2009 21:55

So, can I ask - if I'm 32in underneath and 37in around the nippage, I'm guessing that doesn't make me 34FF as I've believed for the past couple of years.
But I have found if I do wear a 32 I feel very constricted and it has brought on gall bladder attacks in the past.
Any clues?

Vamonos · 24/03/2009 21:55

piratecat (or anyone else who is a bra expert) - pleeeeeeese can you help me?

Is there a bra for people that can't wear normal bras? I find them hellishly uncomfortable, I think possibly because my norks are not terribly large but wide and quite far apart.

My dream bra would be a bit like a crop top or strapless bra shape - with narrow straps that look fine sticking out from under t-shirts etc.

It would be a happy compromise between a crop top (which is bit too thin and saggy) and a strapless bra (which is too structured and underwired).

It would contain a lot of elastic, be very soft against the skin yet provide good shape and support. Does such a thing exist? And if not, why not??

TrillianAstra · 24/03/2009 21:55

Refusing to buy a G? SO you'd rather have a pretty pink spotty bra that makes your boobs look weird than a bra that is less attractive in itself but makes your boobs look good?

triffictits · 24/03/2009 21:55

Pirate help me!!
I was measured in bravissimo and measured a 34e. This was fine 6 months ago, but now i am finding the wires are digging in a bit at the side of my boob - I am thinking I need to go up a cup, but if I do, I dont think i could go down a size at the back.
So if I went to an F cup, do you suggest I wear a 32 F?
I have heard this before but really dont think i could wear a 32, it would be too tight.
I have back fat too - how can you avoid this?

AnyFucker · 24/03/2009 22:06

BOF, why you gabbing about gardens?

Flamesparrow · 24/03/2009 22:15

R&P is not all PR although they aren't infallible.

The first time I went I found a fabulous assistant who actually seemed to want to be there, and I ended up with the only 2 bras I have ever been truly comfortable in.

Second time I went they were having a refit (which no-one bothered to mention when I called to book my appointment to come from Bournemouth) - staff seemed pissed off at having a customer, and I didn't get anything I was happy with

I will go back again when my size is settled, but I will make sure that the branch I am going to is in full working order!

Flamesparrow · 24/03/2009 22:17

Madwife - buy the bra that fits. It may not be the prettiest without clothes on, but you will look and feel 100x better with clothes on which (unless you are a stripper or a whore) I am guessing is how you spend most of your time.

piratecat · 24/03/2009 23:21

triffictits

ok
could be that your bra has worn out. Quality and price does matter when it comes to the construction/design/ material of bras. I have no knowledge of bravissimo bras.

if you think only your cup size has got bigger ten you just go up in the cup, to an F, a 34F. You don't need to go down in the cup!!

If you had found that the band (under boob) was too tight you would go up in the band to a 36, but compensate this by coming down in the cup. So you be a 36dd

If you had lost weight, and went down to a 32 in the band (underboob) you wuold compensate by going up in the cup to a 32f.
