Hello everyone, old and new.

This is about feeling better about yourself and looking and feeling better etc. But mainly we chat and laugh quite a lot, which has all got to help towards happiness etc.

The rules (anyone can join):

  • Sunscreen at all times - REALLY mean this now summer is here.
  • No or little booze. Wine or Champagne or whatever at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage.

Some people are doing India and Neris's Idiot Proof Diet (Atkins, more or less), others are doing Slimy World, others are just being as healthy as possible.

Welcome everyone, have a good week.

l&S You need to get that file marina linked to and use it on dry feet- you will be truly amazed at the amount of dust that comes off. Then soak in bath and moisturise.

Oh marina- ds would look lovely in a morning suit - or even better like Damian Hurley this weekend! You need something like this - the seller will make you a one off to match your dress as well.

4 -ish would work brilliantly - and dh will be please because it will cut down my shopping time! Can you e-mail me your number?

Cam - to me you are the image of a boden girl who's grown up and got into something more worthwhile than modelling.

Marina · 01/07/2008 21:37

YY to feet being good and dry first as pru says (will mail you and thank you for that fabuleux link btw X)
Bundy, some people can carry those things off. I have an uneasy feeling I will look bonkers with too many feathers.
Also need to check what MIL will be wearing

Prufrock · 01/07/2008 21:37

I'm drinking - I do have a real problem in that when I am being good I can be very good, but when I can't be good (like now when I'm unable to exercise) I seem to think that there's no point in being partly good. Oh well - it's a very nice magari and it perfectly complimented the steak I've just had - accompanied by spinach from my garden, and home made onion rings made from my first ever home grown onion.

Bundle · 01/07/2008 21:38

never bonkers!

I just think the full-on hat thing isn't going to show off that dress to its best. it's truly gorgeous. x

Bundle · 01/07/2008 21:39

re MIL marina - do post some pics!
pru well done on the domestic godess in garden front, sounds yum

Marina · 01/07/2008 21:41

I'll mail them to be on the safe side bundy
Agree a hat with it seems wrong
Might see if that lady linked to by pru can do a sort of small toque
The colours were bang on, I am trying to bring out the dark brown in the dress pattern and minimise the black as someone is bound to pass a remark

Bundle · 01/07/2008 21:45

oh bugger had mis-seen the brown

i am having similar qualms re: my phase 8 dress (brown/pink/cream) and NEED brown shoes. but not frumptastic.

Prufrock · 01/07/2008 21:47

If you do want a hat rather than a feathery thing I think something huge like this for a bianca jaggerish look

WideWebWitch · 01/07/2008 21:52

dh is wittering on about 'wanting to leave a legacy after I've gone' and wanting to invent somethng. hmm. Well, invent something that means we don't have to work for a living luvvy, ok?

Had lovely chat with dh and have finished the pinot grigio which will no doubt regret tomorrow. Also have eaten smoked cheese and chorizo galore.

Marina, hmm, the hat question is vexing for sure. A fasinator or however you spell it would seem the way to go for that dress but are you thinking it would be considered not hat-ish enough? (who said Jane Austen wasn't relevant? hmm?)

(Skulks in)Hello all.

Now that is creepy - have just been sighing over some dresses on Phase Eight. I have one I bought 3 years ago which I get roundly complimented on but I am in my too-fat-to-wear-it-phase.

L&S - I can vouch for that Scholl foot sander Marina linked to. I have black feet every night from our never swept or washed uncarpeted floors but that implement does the job of making my heels clean and half decent. Lots of peanut butter and banana sandwiches, cheese on toast, nuts and Lindt dark chocolate. Don't know if it would help but it's making me drool.

WWW - we are in our dangerous period so you are forgiven for the slight indiscretion.
BUT I am ready to give in my preliminary anti-red mist premenstrual results.

I have been taking EPS for nearly 3 months but not regularly, and Magnesium Ok for at least 2 weeks but very very spasmodically.
Depression and irritation usually starts at about 10 days before, building quickly to a murderous crescendo.

I am due to start my period in about 3/4 days.

Spots - worse than ever. One or two even have their own eco-system.

Bloating - I've put on about 2/3 pounds so far but usually put on 4-5.

Spotting - has started earlier than usual.

But but but, mentally I feel absolutely great. I am not at all depressed or wanting to chain dh in the attic and torture him with red hot pokers (well no more than usual). The red mist has not descended much. And I still feel human and was doubting that this was my lead-up week until WWW mentioned being pre-menstrual (we are synching!). It could be just a fluke and I don't know obviously if it is the combination or just one of the pills, but I am now determined to take them much more regularly and will let you know if next month is the same.

Even the weather didn't quite spoil but am glad that the mini-heatwave is nearly over. I can put my corn-beef legs away now.

WideWebWitch · 01/07/2008 21:54

Pru but floppy hat vair vair hard to feel comfortable in if one doesn't normally wear hats, dontcha think?

You Can't Have a Hat AND a Hairstyle

WideWebWitch · 01/07/2008 21:55

Oh I LIKE bundle's link to feathery thing Marina.

OP posts:
Prufrock · 01/07/2008 21:56

bundy - I have just bought these on ebay.

Or how about these they are a bit short on the toe for me - my feet looked huge in them, but the colours are right and dip-dyed is bang on trend

Bundle · 01/07/2008 21:56

there is a chocolate one (you could always give it a trim )

Marina · 01/07/2008 21:57

I am a Hairy Hat Girl but I tell ya that's the only time you will ever see Marina and Bianca Jagger in the same sentence, sadly
I was thinking Kristen Scott Thomas, whose big black bonnet was one of the best things in 4W&AF
Well hello there moonshine, thanks for the report. Did you decide against Agnus Castus for now?

WideWebWitch · 01/07/2008 21:57

Oooh so, Moonshine, you fink ze pills may be vorking re the PMT? hmm?>>

OP posts:
Bundle · 01/07/2008 21:58

whoa pru, you gonna walk in them??

i need something flat(ish) and elegant ( I know!)

Bundle · 01/07/2008 21:59

i kinda like the look of Fly shoes, a bit funky and well comfy looking except the really high ones

WideWebWitch · 01/07/2008 22:00

Bundle, don;t you reckon wedges are the answer for high + ability to walk?

OP posts:
moonshine · 01/07/2008 22:01

Gad you all type so quickly (and I am a procrastinator of the worst order). I am liking the feathery thing as well.

Yes Marina, decided against the AC because I could hardly remember to take it once a day, never mind the 2 or 3 you are meant to.

Oh and Pru - you are brave meeting with fellow Mn'ers - surely they will all be talking to your norks?? Or would that just be me (trying not to sound pervy emoticon)?

WideWebWitch · 01/07/2008 22:01

Marina, what kind of hat will you feel comfortable in? I think that's the question.

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 01/07/2008 22:02

(apologies for cod German / Viennese accent btw, am a bit pissed, oops)

OP posts:
moonshine · 01/07/2008 22:02

Pills - yes good.

But champagne/pinot grigio would probably do the job on most days as well!

Marina · 01/07/2008 22:03

Tbh I like cloche hats best which are wrongissimo with that dress
Am definitely more of a hatty person but my current coiffure is neat enough to warrant display
Am convinced fascinator will detach itself into the bombe surprise like a nasty spider. Dd and I both have clip-resistant hair, alas
