Do these trousers look ridiculous on me?

Picture pending, but reasonably voluminous balloon legged trousers on short woman.

please be honest but not mean.

For context - 45yrs, 5’3”, slightly ‘alt’ leaning style but far from full on alternative/goth/emo.

don’t say ‘if you like them that’s all that matters’ or similar because I can’t decide if I like them, and that is why I’m posting.

I think they would look awful on anybody. They are not to my taste.

VividDeer · Yesterday 11:13

They look as good on you as they would on anyone. You have a great figure.

TheGirlWhoLived · Yesterday 11:14

They don’t look very good imo

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · Yesterday 11:14

I love them and I think you look great in them!

pinkyredrose · Yesterday 11:14

They're awful. Sorry.

Starhaf · Yesterday 11:14

it’s a no from
me

Statsquestion1 · Yesterday 11:15

No, sorry just no.

FiveShelties · Yesterday 11:15

Yes they do look ridiculous on you, but I have no idea who would look good in them.

They are definitely not flattering.

ThatPlumTurtle · Yesterday 11:15

No, but I don't think they'd look good on anyone.

Userengage · Yesterday 11:15

Gosh, I don’t like them.

Lilypad34 · Yesterday 11:16

If say you were a juggler and needed some trousers for your act then great, I’m guessing you aren’t so no.

Cornflowers35 · Yesterday 11:16

I like them, but I do get a pyjama bottom vibe.

If (when wearing) you changed the top to something definitely not a pj top, it could work.

ShitHoleDweller · Yesterday 11:16

Ridiculous is probably too harsh. I think I’ve seen these style of trousers look fab with a doctor martin but it requires them to be sitting higher up on the leg.

FannybygaslightinGovan · Yesterday 11:16

Ummm, would you be wearing them outside the house?

I'm alt leaning too and I do see why you bought them but I'm not keen on them. There's just too much material in them. You'd probably suit this style more...

Lots of posters will say yes because they hate the style, so don't think it looks good on anyone.

But you have narrow hips, which those massive trousers need, in order to hang as they are meant to. So, no, they don't look ridiculous on you, if that's the style you are aiming for.

These are much better. I have also seen better balloon trousers at Uniqlo.

Ethelspagetti · Yesterday 11:17

I personally don’t like them but if you do then wear them!

Babybirdmum · Yesterday 11:18

I quite like them are they high waisted? Could you wear a shorter top with them like a 3/4 length top that shows your waist off because I feel the longer top shortens the leg

Gettingbysomehow · Yesterday 11:18

I think you could pull them off with the appropriate jacket but the colour is a bit meh.

Sunbringer · Yesterday 11:18

Ridiculous? No. They’re a specific look and if you’re going for slightly grungy, traveller, artist vibes then they work. If you’re trying to look formal or dressed up in any way they don’t.

HorseandHeron · Yesterday 11:18

I've seen loads of teens and twenty-somethings in these trousers, so you might be asking the wrong demographic, here on MN! Grin

researchers3 · Yesterday 11:19

I think they're ok, but you need to wear with a top tucked in or one that ends at the waist so you can see the full length of the trousers.

Pavementdweller · Yesterday 11:19

They look fine - all baggy trousers look slightly ridiculous, that is the fashion and if I saw you in them, I probably wouldn’t even take any notice.

Ashmoleum · Yesterday 11:20

What do you like about them that made you choose to get them?

I don't think they flatter your lovely figure.

HeadInMyShed · Yesterday 11:20

No they absolutely don’t look ridiculous in you. They might not be to my taste but that’s not the same thing. You wear them fine.
