Do these trousers look ridiculous on me?

Picture pending, but reasonably voluminous balloon legged trousers on short woman.

please be honest but not mean.

For context - 45yrs, 5’3”, slightly ‘alt’ leaning style but far from full on alternative/goth/emo.

don’t say ‘if you like them that’s all that matters’ or similar because I can’t decide if I like them, and that is why I’m posting.

You need to balance out the top with a back suit jacket type thing

I like them but the Disurbia ones are better. I agree with pp with your trousers I would wear Doc Martens and a fitted, shorter top.

They’re not to my taste. They look like curtains - so when you say alternate, I guess if that was your goal they’re spot on.
If I may say, you also look like they’re hiding a great figure. Which might be your goal. But incase not, I think you can advance these.

I'd see them as normal at gigs (especially punk folk ones), but usually with 14 eyelet DMs and instead of a long vest, a close fitting t-shirt that's tucked in.

There’s something about the size of the checks that’s not quite right when combined with the amount of fabric. You have a great figure though, OP!

Is height much to do with it? I am 5'8" and I would still looked drowned by the fabric because there is a lot of fabric, that's the style! :-)

They all just look like enormously puffy, balloon shaped trousers to me! My point was simply that I like the ones I linked to more than OP's, which look a bit cheap and scungy.

That's a shame. I liked them! I rarely wear trousers and these finally look like they could work for me and still be reasonably smart.

I like them. In silhouette it's not that different to wearing a skirt, surely. A bit different from the average trouser. And yes it's a shape in with younger brands.

I think they'd look better in a smaller size. At the moment it's just a whole lot of flapping fabric but if you sized down you'd see more of the balloon trouser shape.

I really like them OP and you've got the figure to carry them well. But I'm nearly 70 so what do I know!

I don't think they would look good on anyone and the top does not work with them, either.

They're not flattering, but they're not meant to be. I find Mumsnet has an issue with clothes that aren't designed to flatter and a bit of a mental block against clothing choices that aren't aimed at making one look at their thinnest as their main aim... I think it fits in with the competitive underrating thing and the How old do I look posts.

They're pretty cool. I would happily wear them. I'd wear them with chunky boots a few inches above the ankle or chunky sandals in summer, a very fitted, possibly slightly cropped t-shirt with sleeves, or with a slightly see through, lose cropped vest/cami. Either a fitted, structured leather jacket (had a drappey necked one with 3/4 sleeves that would have looked great with these). Or a leather bomber jacket. Massive chunky and wide scarf as it gets colder. Cropped but lose jewel or earth toned Cashmere or angora in colder weather (over an underlayer tucked in)

You need to make a point of lots of fabric, draping and lush textures, not hide from the volume. And not worry that you might look slimmer in a straight leg pair of jeans with a crisp white shirt. You would, but you'd look very mundane too, in that classic dull, blending into the background way.
