Do these trousers look ridiculous on me?

Picture pending, but reasonably voluminous balloon legged trousers on short woman.

please be honest but not mean.

For context - 45yrs, 5’3”, slightly ‘alt’ leaning style but far from full on alternative/goth/emo.

don’t say ‘if you like them that’s all that matters’ or similar because I can’t decide if I like them, and that is why I’m posting.

These are gathered at the hem. Yours look too long, and it may be the angle of the photo, but they look bunched up over the footwear because they are too long on you and don't really show the gathering at the hem. They look better on the model (if this is the same item).

I think they look like pyjamas. I dont hate them, but I wouldnt wear them outside the house

Wow, they look like entirely different trousers on the model - the length/height makes such a difference.

I don't think Rosie Huntington-Whiteley could make these look good.

More photos from the Primark site here (these are for the grey cardigan that was paired with the trousers in my first link). They look quite long on the model who is presumably quite tall, so it's not surprising that they look long on someone who is 5 feet 3.

If I was wearing them, I'm under 5 feet and would probably need to cut 6 inches off the bottom and re-cuff and elasticate them, but then they would be too full above the cuff.

I think these are the sort of style that need to be exactly the right length for the wearer. The model is wearing size S and is 5 feet 9 inches.

I think they are just a bit too long in the leg for you @catteabook, making them look excessively ballooned.
Petite range somewhere like Pixiegirl might be better suited but you could make them work.

The vest top definitely gives PJ vibes, off shoulder style loose fit would work better in a lighter colour. The black top and black shoes are creating the boxed in effect, go cream or beige or even army green on top and see how that feels. 😊

If your default style now is a smarter look, M&S did have a pleated version, slightly less ballooned. New Look had something similar but think you might have missed the season with them.

They're not doing much for you and you have a great figure! Send them back.

I'm 5ft 3 and I do not think 5.3 is 'too' short at all i think it's actually the UK average or close too it, but there is normally a petite section in shops which we should gravitate towards for future purchases, all shops differ though. But pants that tie at the bottom are just preference, they're not trailing on the floor and i fucking love a wide set pant (im built like a potato so my chicken legs look better in baggy pants)
These particular pants just aren't 100% for me, if you are at home I'd go into the garden take a video of you walking in them and then decide.
I do that alot. The wind dictates how clingy or flappy or breezey my clothes look 80% of the time!

I don't dislike ballon trousers with the right styling.

I'm 5'3" too, size 8 to 10.. I would not choose to wear these. Id love to find some fitted high wasted moderately wide trousers in plain fabric or a mottled fabric, to update my look for this winter , but it wouldn't be these. I think the pattern and gathered harem ankle cuffs would not suit a shorter person. Possible might work better with high waist and a nice white shirt tucked in
