Do these trousers look ridiculous on me?

Picture pending, but reasonably voluminous balloon legged trousers on short woman.

please be honest but not mean.

For context - 45yrs, 5’3”, slightly ‘alt’ leaning style but far from full on alternative/goth/emo.

don’t say ‘if you like them that’s all that matters’ or similar because I can’t decide if I like them, and that is why I’m posting.

Love them!
Try them with the racer back tucked into the trousers and a with a higher boot. Like DMs. Chuck a leather biker jacket over or a black bomber. Tucking in the top will give your waist more definition and make the pant the statement piece that it is. Oh and I'm a similar height and build as you.

I like them but I think the shoes are wrong. I saw someone wearing similar trousers this week at work with kitten heels and she looked amazing.

They do look a bit ridiculous, sorry. I feel like those sorts of trousers always look silly, though, and having a print fabric doesn't help. This styling (link to picture) is probably the best I've seen and it still looks less flattering than straight leg trousers imo.

I think the top ruins the look. You need a shorter one, that just skims the waist, either loose and boxy or fitted.

I agree, the shoes are much too heavy for the trousers.

ETA: Also pps are right - the pattern makes them look too much like you're wearing your DH's pyjama trousers, and the shirt is too long-line.

I don’t think they look awful, but I don’t think they look nice. Because you’re petite, the material seems to bag up at the bottom, and on the insides (ie your hips are slim so there’s a lot of material between your legs for the size of the gap). However, they’d look like that on most people - hence, it’s not you, it’s them.

I think they’d look good on very few people. Maybe a 6ft woman, I don’t know.

I’m not overly keen on the colours or the material either. The colours look like an upholstered seat on public transport, and the horizontal stripes just emphasise the awkward width of the trousers.

If you want a similar pair of trousers, there are better ones out there IMO.

also, I’m not tall enough, and my DM,s are not high enough!

I’ll return them and look for maybe similar with less fabric.

I think you need to wear quite specific things with them to pull off that look - cropped jumper/jacket and doc martin/ankle high type boots

Practically everybody here in Glastonbury wears this look but with more colour, jewellery, scarves and layers.

Halara have some lovely wide trousers which would suit you with a fitted top

I actually think they're very flattering! It's kind of a hippy late 90s vibe. Backpacker style. So yeah. That's cool in a way.

Tuck the top into the trousers and wear them with white dap trainers or sandals. The black boots and black top that goes lower than your waist all accentuate the shortening effect that the trousers have on your legs.

Cropped trousers generally for people that don’t have long legs need to be styled very carefully. Otherwise, they all look frumpy.

have various pair of balloon pants myself and love pairing them with a fitted tank too

my style is a big boho (well, that is what I like)
