What ballet flats are you buying for Autumn?

Considering these but they're expensive for what they are. But I want soft leather, and I like the elastic strap. Fed up of wearing trainers in the 'in between' season.

Has anyone found anything lovely?

I wore some flat Fitflops (equivalent to ballet flats) a couple of autumns ago and ended up with plantar fascists and have been unable to wear flats since. It's loafers or lace ups for me until it's time for boots.

Quoting myself because I love spell check making my foot problem lurch to the right!

I wear ballet flats in the autumn, for me it’s not cold enough yet for my boots, and don’t want to wear sandals in the rain. I can’t wear trainers at work. Mine are a few years old from New Look, they get dug out this time every year!

There are much more stylish options with plantar communists ...

I care not for fashion, but love a ballet flat, I wear them year round, I favour a Russell&Bromley Charming Ballet Pump, I have a plain black quilted pair, camel quilted with black toe pair and a very loved and cherished pair of leopard print calf hair with black toe pair that are apx 8 years old and I will cry when eventually die, but I had them resoled last year at the eye watering cost of £70

I have a pair of leather pony skin fur with a leopard print pattern I bought in GAP I think about 20 years ago. You just reminded me to go dig them out…

I have those , electric blue snakeskin, silver, pewter (woven), black quilted black, red with an ankle strap, gold and pink satin.

I think I’m going to have to get the crates of shoes out of the loft and onto Vinted…

TheChosenTwo · 03/09/2026 22:13

I’ve just bought these, handy for work on days where I’m at an event and want to be smarter than trainers as an autumnal alternative to my loafers and easy to navigate train and tube and steps and a bit of a walk. Not cold enough for boots yet, obviously I wouldn’t wear these in the rain but they will go with a lot of my clothes.
in case the image doesn’t load they’re a pair of suede ballet flats with one strap across the top in a chocolate brown colour.

The only ballet flats I’ll wear - normally get them from the Outnet or Netaporter sale though. Size up half a size!

Where are they from? Is the sole rigid or bendy?

Fitflop are so good.

Hmm, feel like ballet flats are not the 'thing' for autumn that I thought they were.

Melissa because they’re waterproof 😉

orthopaedically ugly tho’

Gettingbysomehow · 05/09/2026 01:44

I just bought these very much reduced on sale. Gabor are normally expensive.
I have to have a wedge on ballets as dead flat shoes kill my feet and my calves.

Oh god really? Ballet flats?

my balls have ptsd from 2005

You're meant to put them on your feet, not your testicles.

Any1ForTennis · 03/09/2026 00:01

Are you able to drive in them, they always seem to pop off my heel 🙄.

I can't walk in them for that reason, they fall off my feet. But, a ballet flat thread will often get recommendations of mary janes, which you can drive and walk in and which I live in all summer.

I already own plenty of shoes. I dont buy new ones because i think there might be a faddy trend that I must follow....

I dont love ballet flats, they arent very practical.

I actually need funeral shoes. Only really have boots, trainers and sandals. But it would be good to get something I'll wear again.

Would court shoes work, OP?

Gettingbysomehow · 05/09/2026 09:00

I also impulse bought these from Skechers. The jury is out at the moment but they will probably look better with long trousers rather than my PJs.

Katalica · 05/09/2026 09:07

I love my Skechers slip ins Dogz. They’re cute and comfy.

TBH, I don’t give a fig about trends and only wear colourful prints or bright colours. You won’t catch me dead wearing brown or beige!

I wouldn't ever wear court shoes again. I'm about to retire from work so don't even need work shoes.

If money was no object then these are the ideal funeral shoe as they last for ever. https://www.ferragamo.com/shop/gb/en/women/shoes/uk-ballet-flats/varina-soft-775746--24

They now have a variant with a mary jane strap too.

justcallmemarywhitehouse · 05/09/2026 11:48

For those wanting to not spend too much Tk Maxx have some nice ones.

These . I prefer the pointy toes but I also know what they did to my feet when young 😬

Try a flattish mary jane. The strap makes them stay on better than a ballet. You can get comfortable (as in padded, orthopaedic-adjacent) mary janes more easily than ballet flats, which would be a consideration for a funeral.
