What ballet flats are you buying for Autumn?

Considering these but they're expensive for what they are. But I want soft leather, and I like the elastic strap. Fed up of wearing trainers in the 'in between' season.

Has anyone found anything lovely?

not for me, although some of Mary Jane shoes can be good for autumn. What I’m looking for are some soft leather lace up ankle boots like a Victorian orphan might wear.

Try Lanx for boots like this. I have a pair a few years old now. My friend describes them as ‘Lancashire mill girl boots’.

@MotherofPearl ,I've already supplied a link.Smile

Jones the Bootmaker has some more budget-friendly boots on the M&S site.

DarkchocolateAndtea · Yesterday 16:39

None, boots or trainers.

These in beige/neutral ...?? Decidedly orthopaedic though!

That site’s dodgy too.

Fly ones are really pretty. Not in my size though....

They are in a minty green-blue in your size, on Vinted ... they also come in silver with a yellow strap.

So it is - sorry all! I normally spot them or double-check, but didn't this time ...

EleanorMc67 · Yesterday 17:10

@piknik - these polka-dot pink ones perhaps? Plasticky though, & no back.

If you go to the M&S site and look at women's footwear, there are a lot of smart looking boots and shoes.
Not quite what the OP is about but not bad as a way to procrastinate on a wet afternoon in September. Smile

My Grenson 'Lancashire mill boots' were from ebay. I've not tried Lanx but heard good things about them.

I think you missed a £ sign off! They're very pricey, but lovely. Even on Vinted/eBay they're still expensive.

I should say though that it is, of course, all relative. I am aware that it's a fortune to some people & a bargain to others, but this is the S&B section, not a wealth discussion. Though not on the recent "status handbag" thread ... the absence of self-awareness by a few posters was quite something!

itsgettingweird · Yesterday 17:19

I wear ballet flats in summer but loafers with a more chunky sole in autumn when it’s starting to get damp but not cold.

Oh Goodness - very tempted....

TheEdgyMoose · Yesterday 17:45

I don't wear ballet flats but, if I did, it would be in the spring and cooler summer days. I don't think of them as an autumn shoe. I'll be in trainers (various colours of Gola Elan) or Birkenstock Bostons on dry days and ankle boots if it's wet.

@Piknik - nude or gold, for wide feet though & more expensive than Jones!

I love those. Seriously love them.

do I need a second pair of gold flats?

StylishAndBeautiful · Yesterday 18:05

@EleanorMc67 , that link was more of an antidote to my other links and for inspiration. My current shoe budget doesn't even extend to 99p unless I sell some of what I already own.

Ditto! Many of my recommendations to others are, I think, more for my own vicarious pleasure ...!!!

I wore some flat Fitflops (equivalent to ballet flats) a couple of autumns ago and ended up with plantar fascists and have been unable to wear flats since. It's loafers or lace ups for me until it's time for boots.

mcmuffin22 · Yesterday 19:40

bananaobama · Yesterday 12:17

Oh god really? Ballet flats?

my balls have ptsd from 2005

Mine too😆 With summer over I wear trainers (sambas) or boots of all varieties, with or without tights. I have no time for shoes that you can't wear socks with.

TooOrangey · Yesterday 19:43

No one can convince me that ballet flats are not diabolical.

StylishAndBeautiful · Yesterday 19:47

They are what teenage girls shuffle to school in. The rest of the outfit is a very short black skirt, black opaque tights and an oversized black blazer.

Isometimeswonder · Yesterday 19:50

@loveawineloveacrisp it really depends on what you'll be wearing.
Eg wideleg trousers, straight, the dreaded skinnies, skirts, jeans (and what shape jeans).

I wear these converse ballerinas from spring until it gets too cold usually October. I have them in all diff colours and patterns. I prefer the older style that has a slimmer profile and came less high up the foot but I'll take what i can get. I want some of the puma speedcats but on a budget at the moment.
