I'm mid50s, 5'7" and size 14.

I have bought a Seasalt Boscaswell waterproof coat and some Timberland Chelsea boots from TK Maxx. My Trespass Audrey parka has done 3 winters of football sidelines and school runs and I'm thoroughly sick of the sight of it so that's getting donated this weekend, as are some old Grenson Nanette boots.

I must stop there. I cleared out my jeans this week and got rid of 10 out of 23 pairs...

Has anyone come across any lovely coats (preferably wool) that aren't boxy/huge that you are eyeing up?

I have on my list a decent wool coat (2 years looking) but everything is huge on me at the moment and I am fed up of sending them back. As a petite size 10/12 I need something with a bit of tailoring at the back.

Other than am looking at Lanx boots, and some chocolate brown loafers or boots.

I just bought the Portobello barrel legs jeans from White Company. They’re gorgeous and comfortable. I’m 5’3” and they are the perfect (although they’re meant to be cropped) length for me.

Autumn is my favourite time of year, although where I live (not the UK) we usually have warm or even hot weather well into October. I have my eye on several items for when the cooler weather finally arrives. I’m looking longingly at knitwear, including a navy wool jumper and a light pink cardigan that is reversible (can be worn with the buttons in back). I’m also contemplating a pair of wide leg blue-grey trousers. I’m due to attend a conference in November and I think they’d be ideal with a top and jacket I already have.

I would like to buy a pair of boots, probably dark brown. Although I don’t really need any more trainers, I have been thinking about buying a pair of Adidas Sambas, either brown with pink stripes or blue with brown stripes. Oh, and I just got some new black loafers to replace a trusty pair that I have worn constantly for the past three years and are now showing their age.

I’m waiting for toast to put their tweed coats up. I’m hoping their Frankie will be a triangle shape like last year. I think I’ll just buy that and nothing else. I have too many clothes including loads of stuff that works this year. I would also like some knee high boots but after nearly £600 on a coat I’ll probably have to look on Vinted.

Flat boots? I have this Westland pair which are the perfect level of chunkiness.

I like the Roman cord jacket upthread but it's only in petite, I'm 5'10" so no good for me unfortunately, the sleeves will be up to my elbows

I usually have something new to go back to school in, but 1. I already have far too many clothes 2. I can't see anything I really like. 3. I barely really wore my winter clothes last year, so I'm a bit stuck.

That black check skirt pictured took me right back to my first year of teaching though!

Just ordered a pair of dark Halara jeans for work. Got a lighter pair in the spring and I don't think I can ever go back now.

A few weeks ago I ordered a shirt from Boden - pale blue/ eau de nil colour, patterned, lots of lovely pintucks and dark blue edging. It's quite Little House on the Prairie but not too much. I'd not shopped in Boden for years. It was pricey but I am going to love wearing it.

I think we need a whole new thread on Halara jeans @ilovesushi I’m so tempted to get a pair for at home as leisure wear, but I’m not sure about sizing, colour, style or length

I also really like this Will navy leather jacket from Sezane but it’s £270 and I’ve just bought the tan trainers from Me&Em at £170 😱 I think I need a side hustle 😂

@minnowonthesay Agree! I'm 5ft9 and about a 14 on the bottom half. I went for tall L and they are perfect. The level of comfort is ridiculous. They look really good too. I got a pair with actual buttons and zip as most are just pull on. Also have some tailored linen blend Halara trousers which are amazing.

I will be on my seemingly neverending search for lovely jumpers with absolutely no wool in them, as I'm so allergic 😞

I also need some jeans, and I hate buying jeans. Well I hate all the trying on and rejecting. Then a few dresses (love wearing dresses) and possibly some boots.

I've sold a huge amount of clothes as I retired early due to illness, so I need to get shopping so I have something to wear!

I really want some brown jeans. I had some gorgeous velvet ones years ago, I’d love those again! But a decent dark brown would be nice. Not too wide leg.

And I think I want a suit again. Or something suit-ish for smart outings. The kind of thing to wear with a silk cami.

I’ve seen references to the winter purple being plum rather than burgundy, which I welcome! One of my absolute favourites and I’m looking forward to seeing it on the rails. But I tend not to stick too closely to ’fashion’, I just like what I like…
